Double block and bleed capability and automatic relief of excess body pressure are a standard feature of this seat design. The seat faces are outside the flow stream and therefore protected from the erosive action of the flow. Pigs and scrapers can be run through the valve without damage.

FEATURES Stem/Stem seal
The stem is designed with a threaded-in T bar allowing relative motions of the gate under line pressure. The stem seal uses braided graphite gaskets ensure sealing integrity. Stem sealant injection system is achieved through a port located on the bonnet. In case of leakage through the stem seal it is possible to inject the sealant through the stem packing release valve.

Seat Seats are ENP coated and are provided with thermoplastic soft insert on their face. A double face seal effect is obtained due to metallic contact between the seat and the gate, thus increasing the reliability of the valve. Metal-to-metal seating is available for abrasive service. In such case gate and seat faces are coated with HVOF Tungsten Carbide coating.

UPSTREAM SIDE DOWNSTREAM SIDE
Fire-safe design Valbart Through Conduit Slab Gate valve is available in the API 6FA fire-tested design. Fire-tests have been witnessed and certified by independent authorities. Valbart Fire tested gate valves offer the highest resistance against fire. The body seal is a spiral wound graphite/AISI 316 gasket and the stem seal is a die-formed/braided graphite packing. The stem incorporates the back seat feature to allow stem seal re-packing with valve in service. Fire-tests certification is available and can be provided upon request.
Single piston effect seats
Seats rings are floating type and are energized against the gate by means of helical springs. The initial seating is enough to assure sealing between gate and upstream seat when the line pressure is applied. The gate allows axial movement and the upstream force derived from line pressure force the gate against the downstream seat creating a double, bubble tight barrier.
Self relieving features
The single piston design with the possibility of both seats and gate to float, permits the automatic release of any overpressure in the body cavity. Consequently, the seat rings are self-relieving.

Double Block and Bleed Fully piggable
Valbart Through Conduit Slab Gate Valves are designed to be Fully Piggable. Pigs and scrapers can be run through the valve without any damage to the internal structure of the valve. Double block and bleed capability and automatic relief of excess body pressure are standard features of Valbart Through Conduit Slab Gate Valves. With the valve fully closed and pressure on both sides, it is possible to bleed the pressure from the body cavity to check seat seal integrity and to achieve double isolation between the two sides and avoid any risk of product contamination

Through Conduit Double Expanding Gate valve
Principle of operation The Through Conduit Double Expanding Gate Valve comprises of a two piece wedged shape assembly consisting of a Gate and a Segment. The Gate is attached and driven by the stem and a centralizer helps in retaining the Gate-Segment assembly until sealing through expansion is required. Positive sealing is achieved in both high and low pressure conditions by expanding the Gate and the Segment out towards the seats while in a closed position.
Gate in fully open position
In a fully open position, the Segment is incapable of further upward movement and the Gate slides upwards along the wedge angle of the Segment, expanding both the Gate and the Segment. The centralizer mechanism allows the Gate-Segment assembly to expand against the seats and protect the seat faces from the line flow.

Gate in running position
In the running position, the centralizer holds the assembly together, preventing relative movement between the Gate and Segment and holding them in a neutral position until sealing expansion is required

With the Segment incapable of further downward movement, simultaneous upstream and downstream sealing is achieved when the centralizer mechanism allows the Gate-Segment to expand, sealing against both seats.

Double isolation MAIN FEATURES Seats
Seats are Tungsten Carbide HVOF (High Velocity Oxy Fuel) coated with Metal to Metal contact between seats and gate. This feature is obtained since the valve sealing is granted not only by the line pressure but also by the external force used to close the valve ( i.e. positive sealing)

The Double Block and Bleed Isolation Philosophy requires two in-line isolation valves and a bleed valve, used to drain or vent trapped fluid between the two closure elements in order to safely isolate safely the downstream pipe. This feature can be achieved with one single valves c/w a bleed port between the obturators.
