Project STYLE
Programme for Youths At-Risk
Adventure-and-Style Based Learning Theme: A- Attitude, B Behaviour, C Choice! Project STYLE is a programme with an emphasis on ABC (A- Attitude, B Behaviour, and C Choice), using grooming and fashion as a platform to facilitate students learning experientially. The aim of the programme is to help students understand how Attitude, Behaviour and Choice can empower them to make autonomous/independent positive decisions, and hence adopting positive attitude and behaviour as an individual in school and in the community. The programme utilizes a holistic approach, making use of a series of developmental, preventive and remedial aspects to enhance the life skills of the youths, increase self and social awareness, and encourage self management as well as responsible decision making. Project STYLE is run via a combination of group work, individual casework, as well as family work so as to enhance youths growth together with their friends in a social context, while being able to address individual areas of development with their adult counsellors in a personal context, and building that up together with the family. The core of the program includes WOWW Working On What Works Program and PCRP Productive Conflict Resolution Program. WOWW is a Solution Focus (SF) approach which utilizes a strength-based competence approach to motivate the students and challenges them respectfully to achieve their goals. This approach helps to build positive relationships, reinforces the sense of hope and optimism in the students, facilitates students to feel a sense of competence, and facilitates their growth in becoming self-directed learners. PCRP (Productive Conflict Resolution Program), which covers on the aspects of Restorative Practice. It has been successfully implemented in schools as an effectively discipline management philosophy and practice that focuses on relationship restoration as well as for students to take responsibility for their choices. PCRP synergizes with the SF Approach as both emphasizes on asking useful questions and challenges the students respectfully.

Project STYLE Group Work
In Project STYLE, grooming sessions are structured to provide the students with an introduction on basic hairstyling, make-up skills and dressing styles. These life skills are then mapped back to real life, and the experiential learning is supplemented with stories, debriefing and feedback sessions strengthened by an approach that is RestorativePractice and Solution-Focused in nature. Students are also asked to reflect upon their learning by journal entries at the end of the sessions, which the trainers will reply to every week. Values and learning points are linked to the overall theme of ABC (A - Attitude, B Behaviour, and C Choice). Through the process, the aim is to allow students to gain more self awareness, being more confident about themselves and their individual strengths, and to understand the importance of their own choices in life. Social awareness, communication skills and positive teamwork were also built upon as the youths participate and try out the skills together in pairs/groups, especially in the final closing event together.
