Creating A Data Table

The document discusses how to create a data table to organize the results of an experiment. A data table includes the independent and dependent variables with their units of measurement and any data collected from multiple trials of the experiment. It should have a clear title that indicates what is being measured and include the table number, variables, subdivided columns to show different trials, and be neatly formatted using a word processor or straight edge. An example data table is provided that measures the effect of temperature on the amount of sugar dissolved in water.

Creating a Data Table

After performing the experiment, the results of the experiment or data, are organized in a data table.
The data table is a chart that shows the independent and dependent variables and any measurements
collected in the experiment.

Data table checklist

________ 1. A detailed title that explains what the table is showing

Example:
GOOD TITLE :The effect of temperature on the amount of sugar that dissolves that dissolves in water.
BAD TITLE :Dissolving sugar

________ 2. Table number

________ 3. Independent variable labeled with the unit in parentheses (if applicable)

________ 4. Dependent variable labeled with unit in parentheses

________ 5. Subdivide the columns of the dependent variable to represent the number of trails

________ 6. Use Word Processor or straight edge to make chart so that lines are neat, parallel and
perpendicular to each other
Example of Good Chart
