Health Behavior Risk Management Guide

This document outlines risk-prone health behaviors and how to assess and intervene with clients exhibiting them. It notes that risk-prone behaviors are related to inadequate comprehension, multiple stressors, smoking, drinking, lack of social support and low socioeconomic status. An assessment should explore a client's perception of inability to adapt to changes, support systems, emotions, factors leading to problems, substance use and available resources. The goal is to develop a long-term plan involving the client and supports to address needs, coping skills, frustrations, strengths and alternatives to increase control over health.
