Sacrificial lamb

St John the Baptist, Needham Market, Suffolk The Agnus Dei, or Lamb of God, is the symbol of St John the Baptist. It is also known as the Lamb and Flag. The lamb is at once innocent and sacrificial. In Christian theology, Baptism wipes away original sin in a reliving of what Christians believe to be Christ's sacrifice on the cross, hence the double-sided meaning.
