Grants
There are several type of grants that are available to students who meet certain criteria. For more information on how to apply for these grants click here.
Federal Grant Programs
There are several federal grant programs for which you may qualify based on your FAFSA
information and your Student Aid Index (SAI).
Federal Pell Grant
- Grant from the federal government to undergraduate students (with no prior bachelor's or professional degree) with high need.
- These grants are based on the student's enrollment status.
- Eligible students can receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell award each year.
- What does this mean for you?
- If you were a Pell eligible student in fall 2024 and spring 2025, you may qualify for a Pell Grant for summer 2024
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG):
- Grant from the federal government to undergraduate students with high need. Priority of this grant funding is given to students who are Pell Grant recipients.
Fallen Hero Pell Grant:
- If you are a dependent student of a Fallen Hero, and meet certain criteria, MCC's financial aid department can help you determine if you eligible to receive the maximum Federal Pell Grant award for the academic year.

Massachusetts Grant Programs
In order to be eligible for any the Massachusetts Grant Programs, the student and
the student's parent(s) if the student is considered a dependent based on the FAFSA,
must meet Massachusetts residency requirements for a specific period of time based
on the grant guidelines.
Further you must successfully complete the courses to ensure that your tuition and
fees are covered.
MassReconnect: This is a program to fund free community college for adults 25 and older who do not
already have a college degree. This is a state funded grant available to both full-time
and part-time (6+ credits each semester) students who meet Massachusetts residency
requirements, have completed the FAFSA (or MASFA), and demonstrate financial need
for tuition and fees after accounting for all forms of grant and scholarship aid.
A book allowance is included based on level of enrollment. This program is available
for Fall, Spring and Summer. There are time limits on how long a student may receive
this funding type based on their program length.
MassEducate: This is a program to fund free community college for students who have not yet earned
a bachelor's degree and are either under 25 or have an associate's degree. This is
a state funded grant available to both full-time and part-time (6+ credits each semester)
students who meet Massachusetts residency requirements, have completed the FAFSA (or
MASFA), and demonstrate financial need for tuition and fees after accounting for all
forms of grant and scholarship aid. A book allowance may be included based on family
income and amounts will vary based on level of enrollment. This program is available
for Fall, Spring and Summer. There are time limits on how long a student may receive
this funding type based on their program length.
MassGrant: This is a grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for full-time (12 credits
or more each semester) undergraduate students who are residents of Massachusetts and
demonstrate exceptional financial need. Recipients cannot have a prior bachelor's
or professional degree. FAFSA deadline is July 1, 2024. FAFSAs that are filed after
July 1st are not considered eligible.
MassGrant PLUS:This is a state funded grant available to both full-time and part-time (6+ credits
each semester) students who meet Massachusetts residency requirements, have completed
the FAFSA (or MASFA), and demonstrate financial need for tuition and fees after accounting
all forms of grant and scholarship aid. A book stipend is included based on level
of enrollment. Pell eligible students will be prioritized. Deadlines may be applied
annually based on the amount allocated to the College by the state. This program
is available in the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters while funds are available.
Tuition Waiver: This is a need-based grant aid from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to undergraduate students meet Massachusetts residency requirements and have no prior bachelor's or professional (Masters, doctoral) degree.
Cash Access Grant: This is a need-based grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to undergraduate
students who meet Massachusetts residency requirements and have no prior bachelor's or professional degree.
Institutional Grant Programs
Student Success Grant: MCC's Student Success Grant can help cover tuition, fees, books and supplies. Eligibility is determined through filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Initial awards and renewal of the grant is subject to federal eligibility requirements, enrollment in an eligible program of study and continued financial need.
