Start Page
The Start page makes it easier for new users to find the best resources for their first steps with Maple. These resources include:
An updated Get to Know Maple, Fast! video, which provides a brief overview and key information to help all users with their first Maple interactions
A revised Maple Fundamentals Guide that covers more topics, and includes information about the differences when working in Worksheet mode
A simplified presentation that clearly points to the most important resources for someone who is brand new to Maple
Assistance in choosing between Document and Worksheet modes, as described in the previous section

To access this page at any time, in the worksheet toolbar, click Open the start page ( ).
Maple Portal
The Maple Portal acts as a starting place for any Maple user. The Maple Portal includes tutorials on topics such as Plotting and Data Manipulation. From there, navigate to pages with more information for Students and Engineers.
From the Start page, open the Maple Portal

From the Help menu, select Maple Portal
Tutors
Over 60 interactive tutors help beginner users gain insight and understanding of topics in precalculus, calculus, multivariate calculus, vector calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, optimization, statistics, and numerical analysis courses. Some tutors help you work through a problem step-by-step.
From the Tools menu, select Tutors, and then one of the topic submenus.
Assistants
Assistants help you accomplish many tasks, such as creating plots and matrices, translating code, and performing unit conversions.
From the Tools menu, select Assistants, and then one of the topic submenus.
Task Templates
Task templates show you the steps required to solve a problem. Each task is a collection of Maple worksheet content, such as 2-D math, commands, and plots that you can insert into your worksheet.
From the Tools menu, select Tasks, and then Browse.
Help and Examples
Help Pages
The help system is available to help you find information about a specific topic, command, package, or feature.
Use one of the following methods.
From the Help menu, select Maple Help.
Click the Help icon:
Use the search box on the toolbar located next to the Help icon.
In the worksheet, enter ?topicname. For example, type ?LinearAlgebra and press Enter.

Applications and Example Worksheets
Embedded, executable worksheets covering topics that demonstrate syntax or invoke Maplet applications make complex problems easy to solve and visualize. Copy and modify the examples as needed.
Applications provide demonstrations of using Maple to solve numerous engineering problems.
To see a visual gallery of a selection of engineering applications, use one of the following methods.
In the worksheet, enter ?MaplePortal/ApplicationGallery.

Example worksheet topics range from Algebra to Discrete Mathematics, Differential Equations to Integral Transforms, General Numerics to Symbolics, to Mathematical Visualizations and more.

Palettes
A palette is a collection of buttons representing items such as predefined symbols, expressions, operators, and Matrices. By clicking the buttons on the palettes, you can build or edit mathematical expressions without having to remember basic Maple command syntax.
Maple provides access to over 30 palettes.
By default, palettes are displayed when you launch Maple.
To view palettes:
From the View menu, select Palettes.
Select Expand Dock.
Right-click the palette dock. From the context-menu, select Show All Palettes or select a specific palette from the Select Palette submenu.
Context Panel
As you work, Maple dynamically generates context-sensitive options for the current object or expression. The actions are available in the Context Panel to the right of your document.
For example, you can manipulate and graph expressions, enhance plots, and format text using the Context Panel. For more information, click here.
Technical Support (Online)

Maple Application Center

Alternately, go to http://www.maplesoft.com. In the menu of the main webpage, click Support & Resources, and then under Community click MaplePrimes.
Solutions for Engineering Professionals
Click here to find the Maple website of engineering solutions. For other applied areas of research and industry, such as operations research, financial modeling, physics, life sciences, or high-performance computing, go to http://www.maplesoft.com. In the menu of the main webpage, click Solutions, and then under Applied Research select the desired area.
