‘we were like gods at the dawning of the world, and our joy was so bright we could see nothing else but the other.’
i must be a masochist because i can think of no other reason to endure the emotional and stunning pain of this story for a fifth time. but here i am. crying for my sweet, sweet patroclus. the best of men. the best of the myrmidons. <3

its been nearly 12 hours since i finished this and i still am at a loss for words at the beauty of this book. i dont think i have ever read anything as gorgeous as this and nothing i write will even come close to describing its loveliness. truly, a touching masterpiece. and i will forever be singing its praises until the end of my days.
↠ every star, to give patroclus his own constellation

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous book. Did you know it took the author ten years to write it?

to all of the above - thank you for the encouragement! im about halfway through. im really taking my time because i dont want this to end. im so in love!! xx
This books broke me and fucked me up several ways till Sunday. And you can just tell all the years the author put into writing this book paid off! This book is tragically beautiful!
Wow - it must be a great read if you're read it twice :) I still need to read it for a first time but it is on my bookshelf and I do want to read it in the next couple of months ^-^
oh, i would have reread it 100 times by now, but it took sooo long for me to emotionally prepare to have my heart broken again. its such a beautiful story - i really hope you love it!! <3

i loved circe as well, but its no where near as good as this one. this book took her ten years to write and you can tell it was a labour of love. so excited for you to read this!

I wanted to read this since I read Circe. It's on my shelf rn. I had to buy it! And reading your review makes me wonder why I haven't read it yet! I wanna love it like you do!
its honestly one of my favourite books of all time and i think its sooo much better than circe (which i also loved!) but yes, you need to read it soon so we can fangirl over it together! hehe.

Yay! Lol, I am already excited! I'll try my best to pick it up in March ASAP! And I hope I remember to bug you and make you fangirl!
Stunning review Jessica, and I could not agree more. This book means so much to me! Your words have certainly done it justice.
YES YES YES! I loved this one so much! And yes, you can really see all the time and work the author put into writing this novel. I haven't read Circe yet, but I have no doubt that book is also amazing!

sunny - yay! so excited that you enjoyed this! i really hope you get a chance to read circe soon!! :)
This has been on my to-read list FOREVER. I think I'm just putting it off at this point for fear of the emotional pain
saige - pick it up when you need a really good cry. it will break your heart, but you will be soooo grateful for it! <3zoe - yeah, i can understand that and im sure i would have felt similarly had i read this as a younger age. but i hope you give it another chance one day!! xx

I waited a few month before I read the last chapter, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I am happy I did though, it has a beautiful closer moment .
Thank you for articulating so well how I feel right now. I am crying, grieving. What do I do now? What could possibly fill the gaping wound this extraordinary book has left behind?
You actually read it 3 times?! I just finished it yesterday and still cry at the mere thought of it!
