Seat with Commemorative Poppies in Prestwood
Taken at the corner of High Street and Nairdwood Lane, this seat has hand knitted poppies making the words "LEST WE FORGET" which are taken from the poem "Recessional" by Rudyard Kipling. Link
refers. Each of the thirty five poppies refers to a soldier from Prestwood and the surrounding locality who died during World War I (1914-1918). As this display was erected to mark the ending of World War I one hundred years ago on Monday 11th November 1918, it will probably be removed shortly.
