    This new event in the middle of Europe will see a huge audience and an impressive list of exhibitors. FreeBSD will have a booth as well as the other major BSDs.

    Discuss & discover is the successor of Systems. FreeBSD will have a booth as well as the other major BSDs and will try to repeat the great success of past years. There will be an Open Source conference with workshops, talks and a theme park for various projects.

September 2009

    26 - 26 September, 2009
    26th September 2009 in Kiev, Ukraine will take place first Ukrainian conference, dedicated to FreeBSD.

  • IT Security Expo 2009, , Nuremberg, Germany
    23 - 24 September, 2009
    Starting in 2009, Nuremberg will be staging the leading IT security event in a new venue: Although SYSTEMS has closed its doors, the IT SecurityExpo with its track record of ten successful years is to be continued and its scope expanded. There will be a FreeBSD booth and talks likely.

    23 - 24 September, 2009
    The goal of OpenExpo is the promotion of Open Source software in the business environment. Among many others, there will be a FreeBSD booth.

  • EuroBSDCon 2009, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK
    17 - 19 September, 2009
    The eighth annual European BSD Conference will take place in Cambridge, England in September, 2009, and include a technical track, tutorials, and FreeBSD developer summit.

August 2009

  • FrOSCon 2009, Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, Sankt Augustin, Germany
    22 - 23 August, 2009
    FrOSCon is a two day conference on Free Software and Open Source, taking place in Sankt Augustin near the cities of Bonn and Cologne. The conference revolves around a rich schedule of talks, highlighting current topics in Free Software and Open Source.

July 2009

  • Kernel Conference Australia 2009, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia
    15 - 17 July, 2009
    Kernel Conference Australia is a Kernel-focused technical conference. Any and all Open Source kernels and the technologies within those kernels are open for discussion. The only hard criteria is that the kernel must be covered by an OSI-approved license.

  • 10th Libre Software Meeting, Nantes University, Nantes, France
    07 - 11 July, 2009
    The Libre Software Meeting has occurred each year since July 2000. This year there will again be a FreeBSD boot camp to introduce new users to the Operating System.

  • FreeBSD Kernel Internals: Intensive Evening Course, , Berkeley, USA
    18 - 02 July, 2009
    The FreeBSD Kernel Internals: An Intensive Code Walkthrough course provides an in depth study of the source code of the FreeBSD 8-current kernel as of early March. This course is aimed at users with a good understanding of the algorithms used in the FreeBSD kernel that want to learn the details of their implementation. The class will be held at the historic Hillside Club at 2286 Cedar Street, Berkeley, CA 94709 just three blocks north of the Berkeley campus once per week from 6:30PM to 10:00PM starting Wednesday March 18th and finishing Thursday July 2nd.

June 2009

    LinuxTag is Europe's largest event for Free Software, Linux and Open Source. This year there will be the traditional FreeBSD booth as well as booths from NetBSD, OpenBSD and MirBSD and several BSD talks.

    BSDday Argentina is a conference for users and developers on BSD based systems. The conference is for anyone developing, deploying and using systems based on FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, DragonFlyBSD and others *BSD. BSDday Argentina is a technical conference and aims to collect the best technical papers and presentations available to ensure that the latest developments in our open source community are shared with the widest possible audience.

  • BSDCan 2009, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada

    BSDCan is a developers conference with a strong focus on emerging technologies, research projects, and works in progress. It also features Userland infrastructure projects and invites contributions from both free software developers and those from commercial vendors.

    A 3 days event to promote GNU/Linux and Open Source Software to companies. As usual, a French FreeBSD User Group will be there to promote FreeBSD. The access to the event is free of charge.

    AsiaBSDCon is a conference for users and developers on BSD based systems. February 2009

  • FOSDEM '09, ULB Campus Solbosh, Brussels, Belgium
    07 - 08 February, 2009
    FOSDEM '09 is a free and non-commercial event organized by the community, for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet. Several FreeBSD developers will be present, including Kris Kennaway who will be giving a talk about system performance.

  • DCBSDCon 2009, Marriott Wardman, Washington, D.C., USA
    05 - 06 February, 2009
    The first large BSD Conference in the DC area. Will include 45 minute presentations on BSD related topics and security themes.

  • Network-related Bugathon #6, , ,
    30 - 01 February, 2009
    A bugathon is an event coordinated by the FreeBSD bugbusting team. Bugathons are held on IRC (in the #freebsd-bugbusters channel of EFnet), and are attended by any interested FreeBSD developers and contributors during a week-end. They focus on closing as many problem reports and fixing as many bugs as possible. The plan for the sixth bugathon is to work through the all network-related problem reports in FreeBSD's GNATS database.
