About us

Forbundet Frie Fotografer (FFF- The Norwegian Association for Fine Art Photographers) was established in 1974, and is a nationwide member organization for camera-based artists. FFF holds equal status as Norske Billedkunstnere, Norske Kunsthåndverkere and Samisk Kunstnerforbund and has negotiating rights with the Norwegian Government (Ministry of Culture).

FFF’s aim is to work purposefully for our members with both art politics and art mediation.

FFF also offers studio rental to members, work facilities for scanning and printing and a guest apartment for artists and culture workers. FFF is situated in Møllergata 34 B, one floor above Fotogalleriet.

EDUCATION

FFF is responsible for the annual Vårutstillingen (Spring Exhibition) and Fotobokfestival Oslo. We focus on artistic renewal and quality as well as the preservation of photography as an important bearer of culture. We also aim to stimulate the production of camera-based contemporary art through our studios and workshop facilities.

ARTS POLICIES

FFF is working to establish a purchasing program for photobooks in Norway (innkjøpsordning). The goal is to strengthen visual interpretation skills of children and young people, and ensure a broader production and distribution than today. FFF also collaborates with the other visual artist organizations on our common issues.

GOVERNMENT GRANTS FOR ARTISTS AND NOFOFO

FFF acts as secretariat for NOFOFO (The Norwegian Photographic Fund), which has an application deadline twice a year. FFF also appoints positions to the Government Grant for Artists for the photographers' artist group.
