What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a great American novel with breathtaking prose. However, some readers did not enjoy the narration and felt that there are better versions available. Overall, the book leaves readers wanting more Fitzgerald.

Excellently read by the narrator. He gets a 5⭐️. For an older reader with much classical reading experience (although this was my first time ready The Great Gatsby) I found it painfully slow until about halfway through. The last half, after the characters were developed was much better, smoother flowing, and much more interesting IMHO. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Sean Astin did a great job. When I read it, this book's prose is breathtaking, however, listening to it conveyed a sadness that has escaped me when I read it (?) - or perhaps I have just forgotten. Always leaves me wanting more Fitzgerald.
This would be a 5 star review, except that the last line of the book, and one of its most iconic, is obscured and denigrated by ridiculous music.
