Methods MR Spectroscopy:

For an appropriate interpretation of the normal and diseased brain, a thorough understanding of its metabolism is a prerequisite. Over the past 20 years, Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (MRS) became a method of choice to investigate the neurochemical status of the brain with more and more advanced acquisition, processing, and analysis strategies. The DRCMR has participated actively for many years in the efforts of the MR community to improve the knowledge on brain metabolism. These developments cover a large range of methodologies from the preclinical to the clinical settings, from conventional acquisition schemes (1H-MRS, 31P-MRS, 13C-MRS) to more complex ones (Diffusion –MRS (DWS), functional-MRS (fMRS)) or spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) at various field strengths ( 7T (preclinical), 1.5T, 3T and 7T).

The Methods Spectroscopy group proposes to join forces within the DRCMR for a better development and utilization of MRS acquisition, processing, analysis, and interpretation methods. We aim essentially at discussing and providing solutions to the development and use of protocols, MRS sequences, software, in-house tools etc.... One of the very first goals is to provide a platform with all the widely available tools (LCmodel, FSL, JMRUI, Vespa,…) and in-house-developed tools as well as procedures and methodologies.

The group will meet on Fridays every 2 weeks at 14:00. An agenda will be provided for current discussions but spontaneous questions/issues to be solved are welcome and can be sent to Nathalie Just ().

All are welcome - in particular PhD and Master students.
