A Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime engineer is drawing Defense Department notice for his work with radiation hardened plastic encapsulated microcircuits. On Aug. 6, Rodney Chambers received the Defense Standardization Program’s distinguished achievement award and a $5,000 first-place winner’s check for his outstanding contributions during fiscal year 2023.

The Defense Logistics Agency’s commitment to hiring people with disabilities was evident July 25 as four employees were honored during the Defense Department’s 2024 Workforce Recruitment Program Awards Ceremony at the Pentagon.

On a rainy, windswept early summer day, about half a dozen volunteers descended on the three-acre prairie habitat on the north side of Defense Supply Center Columbus to participate in the first butterfly count of the season. The count, held on June 26, provided a baseline of the number of butterflies and other pollinators using the prairie.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III named Defense Supply Center Columbus as one of six installations to receive the 2024 Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence. The winning installations were announced in a Defense.gov news release July 1.
