moreThe paper examines verbal collocations to the basic words Daten/dane (data) and Hypothese/hipoteza (hypothesis) in 1000 texts of German and Polish scientific language (from the areas of linguistics and literature, glottodidactics and medicine) on a horizontal and vertical level. The following research questions are of special interest: Which collocations can be generated by these basic words? Can the collocations in both languages be assigned to the same sorts of speech acts? And where can we observe differences and similarities in their usage?
