В данной статье представлена биография крупного учёного-диалектолога А. Ф. Войтенко, благодаря фундаментальным трудам которой («Словарь говоров Подмосковья», «Лингвистический атлас Московской области», «Московская диалектная лексика в ареальном аспекте», «Что двор, то говор»), по словам ведущего научного сотрудника Отдела диалектологии и лингвистической географии ИРЯ им. В. В. Виноградова РАН А. В. Тер-Аванесовой, «Подмосковье является наиболее изученной с точки зрения лексики и этнологии территорией России».

This article shows biography of talented dialectologist A. F. Voitenko, thanks to the works of which («Dictionary of dialects of the Moscow region», «Linguistic Atlas of Moscow region», «Moscow dialectal vocabulary in areal aspect», «To each homestead, it's dialect»), according to A. V. Ter-Avanesova, «the Moscow region is the most studied in terms of vocabulary and ethnology, the territory of Russia».

Streszczenie


Do tej pory koncepcja kulturemów nie była wykorzystywana w pracach, w których badano polski materiał gwarowy. Dialektolodzy zainteresowani leksyką przede wszystkim gromadzili jej zasoby w postaci słowników, tekstów gwarowych i atlasów, z kolei etnolingwiści (zwłaszcza wywodzący się ze szkoły lubelskiej Jerzego Bartmińskiego) zajmowali się językowym obrazem świata utrwalonym w materiale gwarowym. Tak też była opisywana gwara podhalańska. Na podstawie dotychczasowych prac dialektologicznych i etnolingwistycznych nie można jednak odpowiedzieć na następujące pytanie – które słowa (i kryjące się za nimi pojęcia) są szczególnie istotne dla kultury ludowej Podhala? Rozstrzygnięcie tego zagadnienia znajdziemy w niniejszej monografii.
Koncepcja kulturemu była wykorzystywana w przekładoznawstwie, badaniach stylistycznych oraz w etnolingwistyce. W ostatnim z ujęć (reprezentuje je Alicja Nagórko) kulturem jest najbliższy słowom kluczom Anny Wierzbickiej. Kulturemy można więc uznać za ważne dla samoidentyfikacji jakiejś społeczności słowa klucze.
Do typowania kulturemów wykorzystano badania ankietowe, a także analizę tekstów drukowanych i wypowiedzi Górali. Ważną rolę odegrała intuicja badacza. W konsekwencji wydzielono 34 kulturemy. Można przyjąć, że zrozumienie tych właśnie jednostek jest kluczem do zrozumienia kultury podhalańskiej.
Ponieważ kulturemy grupują się w kręgi tematyczne, zostało to odzwierciedlone w kompozycji pracy. W rozdziale Swoi i obcy, który opiera się na uniwersalnej opozycji opisywanej m.in. przez Wiaczesława W. Iwanowa i Władimira N. Toporowa, znalazły się: Góral, gazda, baca, juhas, zbójnik, ksiondz, pán i ceper.
Kolejny rozdział – Wartości zawiera bezpośrednie odniesienia do góralskiego systemu aksjonormatywnego. Ponieważ wyróżniamy (m.in. za Jadwigą Puzyniną) wartości pozytywne i negatywne, ten rozdział został podzielony na dwie części. W pierwszej – Wartości pozytywne znalazły się: Pámbócek, Pániezus, Gaździná Podhála, krzýz, śleboda, honór, robota, ziym i dudki. Do Wartości negatywnych zaliczono biydę i głód.
Ważną grupą kulturemów są jednostki określające tożsamość kulturową. W odniesieniu do Podhala są to: gwara, muzýka, śpiywanie, tániec, ubranie, portki, ciupaga, moskál, oscypek, gorzáłka i owca. Kulturemy składają się również na geografię mentalną, dlatego w monografii omówiono: Podhále, góry, Giewont i hále.
Do opisu kulturemów wykorzystano z pewnymi modyfikacjami definicję kognitywną zaproponowaną przez J. Bartmińskiego, która z powodzeniem została zastosowana m.in. w Słowniku stereotypów i symboli ludowych. Kompletny opis kulturemu obejmuje: 1) etymologię (dotyczy to przede wszystkim jednostek dyferencyjnych); 2) zasięg geograficzny; 3) relacje synonimii/bliskoznaczności i/lub hiperonimii – hiponimii; 4) charakterystykę znaczenia na podstawie słowników gwarowych; 5) derywaty słowotwórcze; 6) zestawienia; 7) kolokacje; 8) odniesienia we frazematyce; 9) odniesienia w folklorze słownym (pieśni, podania, legendy, bajki itd.); 10) odniesienia w literaturze regionalnej (przede wszystkim w pisanej poezji góralskiej); 11) odniesienia w wierzeniach, obrzędach i zwyczajach (wiedza przyjęzykowa); 12) relacje Górali na temat definiowanego przedmiotu uzyskane podczas badań terenowych.
Omówiony w monografii zestaw kulturemów jest niejednolity. Warto dodać, ze jest to zbiór otwarty, który może być poszerzony o kolejne jednostki. Wspólne dla kulturemów jest nastawienie wartościujące oraz patriarchalne (widoczne zwłaszcza w rozdziale Swoi i obcy, w którym wszystkie jednostki są nazwami mężczyzn), a także przynależność do autostereotypu. Kulturemy podhalańskie służą m.in. samoidentyfikacji Górali, realizując (podobnie jak stereotyp) funkcje: psychiczną (ułatwiają myślenie i mówienie o świecie), społeczną (integrują Górali) i poznawczą (przekazują potoczną konceptualizację).
Co nowego do badań etnolingwistycznych wnosi monografia o kulturemach podhalańskich? Przede wszystkim otwiera perspektywę nowych badań. Pożyteczne byłoby zestawienie kulturemów podhalańskich z kulturemami (ogólno)polskimi lub dotyczącymi innych regionów, np. Śląska lub Kaszub. Z pewnością ujawniłoby to podobieństwa i różnice w obrębie szeroko pojętej kultury polskiej, jednak nie na płaszczyźnie zwyczajów lub obrzędów (to już zostało zestawione w pracach etnograficznych) albo słownictwa (służą temu słowniki, a także prace z zakresu historii leksyki), lecz tożsamości. Badania takie można uznać za jeden z celów etnolingwistyki.

Summary

Dialectologists interested in lexis gathered their resources in the form of dictionaries, subdialect texts and atlases, while ethnolinguists dealt with linguistic picture of the world as present in subdialect material. And in such a way was the Podhale subdialect described. However, these works fail to answer the following question – which words are particularly important for Podhale Gorals (highlanders)? It is a question of ethnolinguistics (to be exact – of ethnosemantics), and the answer is contained in the present monography.
The concept of a cultureme has been used in translation studies, stylistics, and ethnolinguistics. In the last conceptualization (represented by Alicja Nagórko) a cul- tureme is closest to Anna Wierzbicka’s key words. Culturemes might be identified as key words important for a community’s self-awareness.
Surveys, analyses of printed texts and Gorals’ utterances were used to identify Podhale culturemes. The researcher’s intuition played an important role. As a result, 34 culturemes were determined. Understanding these units is a key to understanding Podhale culture.
Since culturemes group into thematic circles, the work’s composition mirrors this division. In the Swoi i obcy chapter, which is based on the universal opposition described, among others, by Vyacheslav V. Ivanov and Vladimir N. Toporov, words górál, gazda, baca, juhas, zbójnik, ksiondz, pán and ceper found their place.
The next chapter – Wartości contatins direct references to the Goral axiologi- cal system. Because we distinguish (after Jadwiga Puzynina, among others) positive and negative values, this chapter was divided in two parts. The first – Wartości pozytywne contains words Pámbócek, Pániezus, Gaździná Podhála, krzýz, śleboda, honór, robota, ziym and dudki. Biyda and głód are found in Wartości negatywne. An important group of culturemes contains units defining cultural identity. In relation to Podhale they are: gwara, muzýka, śpiywanie, tániec, ubranie, portki, ciupaga, moskál, oscypek, gorzáłka i owca. Culturemes also comprise mental geography, for which reason the monography discusses: Podhále, góry, Giewont and hále.
Slightly modified cognitive definition proposed by Jerzy Bartminski was used to describe culturemes, which was successfully applied, among others, in Słownik stereotypów i symboli ludowych. The complete description of a cultureme contains:
1) etymology (mainly in differential units); 2) geographic range; 3) relations of synonymy/cognates/hyperonymy/hyponymy; 4) meaning based on dictionaries of subdialect; 5) word formation derivatives; 6) juxtapositions; 7) collocations; 8) ref- erences in phrasematics; 9) references in oral folklore (songs, stories, legends, fair- ytales etc.); 10) references in regional literature (mainly in written Goral poetry); 11) references in beliefs, rituals and customs (paralinguistic knowledge); 13) Gorals’ statements about the defined object gathered during field research.
The set of culturemes discussed in the monography is not uniform. It is worth noting that it is an open set, possible to expand by adding additional units. What culturemes share is evaluation and patriarchy (especially in the chapter Swoi i obcy where all units are of male gender), and also affiliation with autostereotype. Podhale culturemes serve, among others, for Gorals’ autoidentification, by perform- ing (similarly to stereotype) functions: mental (they simplify thinking and talking about the world), social (they integrate Gorals) and cognitive (they share common conceptualization).
What new does Podhale culturemes monography introduce to ethnolinguistic studies? Above all, it opens perspectives for new research. Particularly interesting would be juxtaposing Podhale culturemes and Polish culturemes or culturemes from other regions, for example Silesia or Kashuby. It would certainly reveal similarities and differences among the widely understood Polish culture, however not the custom or ritual level (it has been shown in ethnographic works) or on lexis level (this is the purpose of dictionaries and history of lexis works), but identity. Such research may be considered as one of the aims of ethnolinguistics.

The etiological or explanatory tale, represents to this day a little-known genre of oral literature,  called upon to provide answers to questions on the order of things, the origin of species, their characteristics, etc. Ideally, the etiological corpus has to create a cosmogony, a coherent world view, explaining the origin and functioning of the universe. Touching directly on the history of mentalities, etiologies present themselves as a process of appropriation of the world by man.
At the symposium “Etiological tales and legends in the European space“, organized in October 2012 in the Sorbonne, it was decided that a Dictionary of Eastern Slavs’ etiological motifs and tales was necessary to advance in the study of this little explored area of the orality. Since then, this project has become one of the three lines of research around which was established the scientific project of the Eur'ORBEM team.
The Dictionary will take stock of research carried out over several years on Slavic etiologies, notably through the publication of Russian and Ukrainian etiological corpuses, and will be a necessary tool for comparative studies, allowing analysis of motifs and characters common to several areas or specific to a tradition. The mastery of the discourse on the sources of the world order will make possible the exploration of etiological motives in the various fields of popular culture but also of learned culture. In the paper we discuss the methodological approaches and the composition of the Dictionary currently being writing.

The paper examines the traditional explanation of the Eastern-Slavonic deity Xors as an Iranian loan from the Persian xwaršēδ/xoršid ‘sun’ and advances an alternative etymology via the Indo-Aryan root hṛṣ-, Indo-European *g̑hers- and its cognates in other Indo-European languages. Based on the linguistic and mythological comparative analysis Xors is interpreted not as an abstract ‘solar god’ but as a ‘sun fertility hero’ viewed as the development of the ancient archetype of the ‘dying and resurrecting god’ comparable in role to Dionysus. The paper closes with a brief outline of some new venues for research following out of the proposed reinterpretation of Xors.

The traditional explanation of Xors as a late Iranian loan from the Persian xwaršēδ/xoršid ‘(radiant) sun’, conceived in the early stage of Historical Linguistics, has become an anachronism. It is not viable linguistically and is also a methodological dead-end because defining Xors as an abstract generic ‘solar god’ or the ‘god of the solar disc’ does not really explain anything.
Slavonic mythology and pre-Christian religious cults directly continue the Proto-Indo-European and Indo-European traditions so one should view the Slavonic deities not as detached ‘exotic’ entities or endless ‘borrowings’ from surrounding peoples but as local developments of the common ancient base-myths. The new etymology of Xors as a relic of the I-E *g̑hers-  and the Proto-Indo-Aryan *hrs-/*hrṣ-, preserved to this day in toponyms in the Balkan and Circum-Pontic areas and also in numerous cognates in the principal I-E language branches, integrates Xors-Daž’bog into the mainstream of the pan-European and Eurasian mythology. It also helps to understand the intricate deep connection of the multitude of seemingly diverse Eurasian cults and myths which may all decent to the same fundamental Palaeolithic archetypes of ‘Great Mother’, ‘Divine Marriage’ and the eternal ‘wheel’ of birth and dying repeated at all levels from plants, animals, humans to the seasonal and cosmic cycles.
Неиранское происхождение восточнославянского бога Хърса/Хорса.


Несмотря на то, что в древнерусских исторических и религиозных источниках Хорс является вторым по частоте упоминаний после верховного языческого бога Перуна, о его роли в пантеоне древних славян практически ничего не известно. В этой статье делается попытка нового осмысления функции Хорса через метод сравнительного лингвистического и мифологического анализа.
В самых ранних исторических исследованиях Хорс описывался как славянский аналог греческого Бахуса (Дионисия), а также сравнивался с древнепрусским божеством плодородия Curcho. Однако, с середины девятнадцатого века прочно утвердилась теория об иранском происхождении имени Хорс, как прямого заимствования из персидского xwaršēδ/xoršid ‘солнце-царь’. На этом основании Хорс представляется как ‘солнечный бог’ или как некое абстрактное ‘божество солнечного диска’. Такая интерпретация Хорса и сегодня является общепризнанной среди историков. При этом игнорируются объективные сложности произведения имени ‘Хорс’ из иранского xoršid. Такая радикальная трансформация звучания не характерна для известных иранских заимствований в славянский. В частности, необъясним предполагаемый переход иранского š в s. Кроме того, слово xwaršēδ появилось в средне-иранском языке относительно поздно (не ранее IV в. до н. э), как сокращённый  вариант Авестийского hvarə хšаētəm ‘солнце сияющее, правящее’, и не является собственно теонимом. С последующим развитием  Зороастризма функции солярного бога Hvar перешли к переосмысленному Митре (Mihr), и само его имя стало уже использоваться как синоним солнца. В современных иранских языках xoršid также имеет значение ‘солнце’, но без какого-либо религиозного подтекста.
Наряду с лингвистическими есть и культурно-исторические препятствия иранского происхождения теонима ‘Хорс’. Несмотря на то, что образ солнца занимает важное место в славянском фольклоре, зачастую солнце представлялось как  ‘девица’. Однако главной проблемой в теории об иранском происхождении Хорса является вопрос о том, когда и при каких условиях славяне вообще могли заимствовать солнечный культ и название солнечного бога у иранцев.
Изначальная проблематичность теории прямого заимствования из иранского заставляла многих исследователей искать альтернативные объяснения. В частности, были попытки использования фонетической близости восточнославянского ‘хорошо/хорош’. При этом, как правило, не подвергался сомнению постулат о солярной сущности Хорса и его иранском происхождении. Основная трудность на этом пути состоит в том, что отсутствует надёжная этимология самого слова ‘хорошо/хорош’ и его конкретный иранский источник. Возможность прямого родства с практически полностью фоно-семантически совпадающим древне-индийским hṛṣu ‘радостный, довольный’ не рассматривается a priori, ввиду якобы невозможности прямого контакта древних славян с индо-арийскими языками в силу их географической удалённости и установившимся предубеждением, что любые схождения сакральной и религиозной лексики славянского с индо-иранским следует рассматривать исключительно как заимствования из иранских языков посредством скифского.
Данная работа опирается на возможность сохранения в Северном Причерноморье этноса или языковых реликтов прото-индо-иранского языка, восходящего ко времени Ямной культуры (3600—2300 до н. э.), до его предполагаемого разделения на индо-иранскую и иранскую ветви. Отталкиваясь от кардинального значение корня hṛṣ в древне-индийском, как ‘ощетинивание, эрекция’, возводимому к праиндоевропейскому этимону * g̑hers(*g'hers-) ‘ощетиниваться’, теоним ‘Хорс’ интерпретируется как божество плодородия, сочетающее функции ‘солнечного героя’ и ‘хтонического бога’, сравнимого по функции с греческим Дионисом и его аналогами в других европейских и восточных  культах.

The paper is an attempt at reconstruction of the features of the Bulgarian linguistic view (profile) of the Polish phenomenon of “Solidarity”. It is accepted that nomina propria, such as “Solidarity”, have not only onomastic but also cognitive value, and are carriers of culturally relevant information and subject to description, definition, and inclusion in dictionaries along with nomina appellativa. The article analyzes different types of linguistic data, mainly textual data selected from publications on the topic and from the representative corpus of Bulgarian. The research paradigm of ethnolinguistics is used and a cognitive definition of the Bulgarian concept of “Solidarity” is formulated, in which the author distinguishes the ontological status of the concept and the following aspects: behavioural, temporal, agentive, instrumental, axiological, and political. Correspondence between the basic conception of the profile of “Solidarity” and its terminological definition in historiography ‒ both in terms of an event ‒ is emphasized.

У прозној и  стиховној народној традицији посебно је ’куђење под прстен девојке’ уврштено у каталог смртних грехова, везујући се најчешће за круг песама/приповедака о великом грешнику  или о његовој загробној судбини (песме). Тај грех углавном заузима последње место у градационом низу великих грехова смртног човека и јавља се као једини грех за који, по правилу, нема разрешења, нема опроста. И поред посебног  статуса који тај грех заузима, порекло овог мотива није објашњено. Оно што још више онеобичава овај мотив jесу ареали његове употребе. Може се закључити да је у фолклорној прози Јужних Словена мотив великог грешника субординиран мотиву једног греха – куђења девојке под прстеном.

Статья посвящена проблеме лингвистического этногенеза славян, т. е. проблеме реконструирования этнической истории предков славян с помощью лингвистических данных, поскольку на сегодняшний день нет общепринятой точки зрения относительно времени формирования праславянского языка и территории, на которой формировался праславянский язык. Показано, что: следы заимствований из праславянского лексикона в языки этносов, обосновавшихся в Восточном Средиземноморье; исконные славянские термины металлургии и названия металлов, добывавшихся в древности на Балканах, островах Средиземного моря и в Анатолии; исконные славянские названия древних сельскохозяйственных культур Ближнего Востока и финно-угорские заимствования названий рыб в славянские языки – свидетельствуют в пользу миграций предков славян в области их современного расселения на севере Европы из Восточного Средиземноморья.

The article is devoted to the problem of linguistic ethnogenesis of Slavs, i.e. the problem of reconstructing the ethnic history of Slav ancestors using linguistic data, as today there is no conventional view regarding time formation of the Proto-Slavic language and the territory on which the Proto-Slavic language was formed.
It is shown that: traces of borrowings from the Proto-Slavic lexicon to the languages of ethnic groups settled in the Eastern Mediterranean; the original Slavic terms of metallurgy and the names of metals mined in antiquity in the Balkans, islands of the Mediterranean and in Anatolia; the original Slavic names of the ancient cultivated plants of the Near East – testify in favor of the migrations of the ancestors of Slavs in the area of their modern settlement from the Eastern Mediterranean.

The paper discusses the autostereotype refelected in phraseological units from a translation perspective. It contains a case study on the expression "Polak potrafi" (lit. a Pole can). The unit can be used both to express positive and negative evaluation. It is analyzed how the translation contextual meaning may be related to the presence or absence of the stereotype in the target language.

Aleksej V. Judin "Onomasticon of East Slavic Riddles"

The present book is the first attempt in East Slavic folklore studies and ethnolinguistics to provide a complete dictionary and directory of proper names as attested in texts of Belorussian, Russian and Ukrainian folk riddles.

The dictionary consists of two parts. In the first part, materials are systematically organized along the direction "from riddle solution to its onomastic substitute", and structured so as to reproduce the organization of traditional East Slavic world view. This part of the dictionary contains the following sections: "Anthroponymical and pseudo-anthroponymical substitutive nominations" (subdivided as follows: Man. Parts of the human body. The house and parts of the house. Domestic interior and objects of everyday life. Household appliances, peasant tools and instruments. Means of transport. Gateways and the street. Household premises. The church. The bee-garden. The world outside the village. Natural phenomena. The heavenly bodies. Calendrical periods. Mythological characters. Animals. Reptiles/vermin and insects. Plants, their constituent parts and fruits.); "Toponymical and pseudo-toponymical substitutive nominations" (Human clothing. Domestic interior and objects of everyday life. Food. Public buildings. Household premises. The bee-garden. Landscape elements. The sky and atmospherical phenomena. Animals and their body parts. Plants.); "Other onomastic substitutive nominations" (Parts of the human body. Mobile/movable objects of everyday life. Working tools and instruments. Weapons. Household premises. Mythological characters. Animals. Plants. Forms of nomination for riddle characters of the type "Мыши спрашивают, где кошка" [The mice are asking where the cat is").
The headwords of the glossary in the second part consist in names which, while figuring in riddle texts, do not function as substitutes for riddle solutions. This part contains the following sections: "Hagionyms and anthroponyms", "Obscure names of characters", "Real toponyms" (Rivers. The lake. The sea. The mountains. Barrows. Cities/towns and villages. Countries.) and "Folkloric toponyms" (Plants. Islands. Mountains. Fields. Cities. Obscure toponyms).
The dictionary is prefaced with a survey of the history of research on proper names in folk riddles, as well as of the principles of their functioning in texts and the criteria of their selection. Individual sections discuss the variability of proper names in specific types of riddles, as well as the typological similarity and possible (genetic) connection/relation between folk riddles and ancient tabooistic languages.
The dictionary is supplied with an index of the folkloric proper names contained in it.

The article discusses the testaments (published by Kazimierz Dobrowolski, Włościańskie roz-porządzenie ostatniej woli na Podhalu w XVII i XVIII w., Kraków 1933 and Janusz Łosowski, Testamenty chłopów polskich od drugiej połowy XVI do XVIII wieku, Lublin 2015) in per-spective of their usefulness in linguistics. It was shown that these texts could be used in an-throponymy and microtoponymy research, as well as variability in dialectal and regional lexis. To some extent, the discussed documents can also be the subject of ethnolinguistic research, because they reveal folk beliefs, superstitions and customs.

The article attempts to reconstruct the linguacultural image of the Polish rak 'crayfish' (Astacus astacus). Following the model adopted in the Dictionary of Folk Stereotypes and Symbols, the relevant data include the word's etymology, its lexicographic treatment (including phraseology) in dictionaries of contemporary Polish, in dialectal dictionaries and in dictionaries of former stages of Polish, texts of folklore, and ethnographic accounts. The following definition of the crayfish has been proposed accordingly: " The crayfish (rak) is a small, hairless and featherless animal of little value, its body being protected by a carapace. It has long antennae, two prehensile and sharp pincers that are used for protection, many legs, and eyes located in the back of the body. It lives in water (rivers and ponds), where it digs holes. It is unknown where it spends the winter. It can pinch, moves backwards in an ungainly and slow manner, makes no sound and kills its victims by biting into their bodies. It is closest to fish. Crayfish are sought for their meat, of which they have very little – they are roasted or boiled. Crayfish are considered exquisite food. Parts of the crayfish's body are used as medicine for various ailments. The crayfish is thought to be connected with the underworld " .

The aim of the paper is to present a multiaspectual analysis of culture specifics in Polish phraseology. The theoretical introduction contains a brief presentation of cultural character of phraseology and related phenomena within the scope of cultural phraseology. One type of culture specifics is constituents of units, such as names of material culture phenomena or proper names. The meaning expressed by some phraseological units is unique to Polish and so is the evaluation conveyed by some idioms. Intertextuality and cultural scripts are also of great importance in the cultural analysis of Polish phraseological units. The analysis shows that many Polish phraseological units are not only carriers of meaning, but also of culture, which is of great importance in terms not only of theory of phraseology, but also in terms of practical applications, for instance, in bilingual phraseography, translation studies and teaching Polish as a foreign language.

SOME PROBLEMS CONCERNING THE STATE, POLITICAL AND ETHNIC TERMINOLOGY IN TWO MEDIEVAL SLAVONIC TRANSLATIONS OF THE INTERPRETATIONS OF THE APOCALYPSE

The article examines two medieval Slavonic translations of the Interpretations of the Apocalypse by Andrew of Caesarea (563-614): the earlier translation, from the late 9th or the early 10th c., is a much abbreviated version of the text, while the later one (completely unfamiliar by now) can be tentatively dated to the 14th c. In rendering the Greek Rhomaioi, when it refers to subjects of the Eastern Roman Empire, the later translator embraces the theory of the uninterrupted continuity between Rome and Byzantium, whereas the early translation consistently promotes the terminological and semantic distinction between “Romans” and “Greeks” (i.e. Byzantines), between the “Old Rome” and the “Greek Tsargrad” (i.e. Constantinople). In the 11th c. the early translation was made use of in the composition of the anonymous Bulgarian compilation Interpretation of the Book of Daniel.

This study is a pioneering attempt to apply social and ethnolinguistic identity theories developed by social psychologists Henri Tajfel, Howard Giles, and Patricia Johnson, and Judith Butler’s critical feminist theory of hate speech, to Ukrainian realities. The material comprises nearly 3,000 readers’ comments concerning language issues posted to Ukraine’s leading news website Ukrains'ka pravda (Ukrainian Truth) in 2010-12, and is analyzed through a systematic discourse- historical approach within a critical discourse analysis. Notorious for intolerance, filthy language, and trolling on a mass scale, the comments reflected the language situation in Ukraine from 2010 to 2012, demonstrating linguistic optimism, linguistic alarmism, denial of bilingualism, and historicist, legalist, and laissez-fair discourses. The readers’ comments deny or affirm the authenticity of either the Russian or the Ukrainian language, propose the exclusion or inclusion of the Russophone population in Ukraine, or deny that there are identity differences. From the chosen theoretical perspective, this study testifies to an unequal power status of the language groups, to the cultural hegemony of Russophones and the challenge to this hegemony by Ukrainophones, to mutual othering, and to an abundance of hate speech. Arguably, the use of hate speech assisted in developing and cementing the identities of Ukrainians who connected strongly with either the Ukrainian or the Russian language.

Предлагается одна из возможных версий семантического развития значения "шут, развратник" и т.п. у укр. блазень и ему подобных и однокоренных слов. Примеров подобных трансформаций привести можно много, достаточно указать на развитие семантики Айтматовского манкурт, сюжет о котором вполне согласуется с фольклорным мотивом Незнайки, тур. Bilmem ‘не знаю’ или Keloğlan ‘лысый, плешивый парень’ с головой, покрытой кишками, кожаным чехлом (ср. киргиз. шири ‘сыромятная конченая кожа крупного скота; колпак из сырой кожи, надевавшийся на голову наказуемого’ у Айтматова и использование ее в погребальной обрядности у киргизов, что также полностью согласуется со сказочными мотивами о герое, завернутом в шкуру животного).

Слово "блазень" загальновизнаної етимології не має і, як вказує ЕСУМ, "найчастіше зіставляється через початкове значення "омана, блукаючий вогник" з лтс. blāzt "блимати", blāzma "блимання, блиск, відображення" (І, 204). ЭССЯ найбільш вдалим вважає пояснення етимології слова з і.-є.*bhlag- звідки також лат. flag-rum"бич".
Етимологічні словники визнають сумнівним висунуте Е.Бернекером зіставлення "блазень" з двн. blâsan "дути", blâsa "міхур" і трактування походження його від *bhlōs-no "надутий, набундючений, дурість". Дати вірогідне обґрунтування семантичного переходу від "дути, міхур" до "дурень, блазень, паяц" з точки зору лише внутрішньо лінгвістичних факторів досить важко. Тому виникає потреба пошуку позалінгвістичних даних, насамперед фольклорних та етнографічних.
Такі дані ми знаходимо в першу чергу, в народних казках, досить часто герой казки - "дурень”, Незнайко одягає собі на голову жовчний міхур (напр., Афанасьев 295, Худяков 4), який, очевидно, мав імітувати лисину (можливо, таким використанням міхура пояснюється походження діалектного нім. Blaser -"спортивна шапочка"). Покривання голови міхурjм, інколи кишками або спеціальним чохлом, є, таким чином, варіацією більш загального мотиву плішивості, який В.Я. Пропп у своїй книзі "Исторические корни волшебной сказки", ґрунтуючись на даних казок та свідченнях з різних територій, пов'язує з обрядом ініціацій. До наведених вченим прикладів можна додати, що в багатьох турецьких чарівних казках також виступає герой по імені Кельоглан, що означає "Плішивий хлопець", якого всі мають за дурника, але він виявляється сміливою і винахідливою людиною.
Пояснення цього мотиву подає африканська казка "Батіг з коров'ячого хвоста", в якій говориться, що той, хто повертається з країни смерті, має поголити своє волосся.
Як вказує М. Еліаде, ініціації у багатьох етнічних груп, у тому числі і індоєвропейських, здебільшого відбувалися на Новий рік, коли світ повертався до первісного хаосу, і члени таємних союзів, які здійснювали ініціації, одночасно виступали і як мертві, предки.

Новорічне обрядове рядження збереглося у слов'ян та інших народів до наших днів, Спільні риси: переодягання, розкута поведінка, ігнорування соціальних норм, танці, пісні - вказують на те, що блазнювання походить від обрядового рядження. Звідси стає зрозумілим також значення "блазень, паяц" в українській та польській мовах. До речі, основним атрибутом блазня був ковпак, здебільшого конічної форми.
Спільним елементом ініціацій, обрядового рядження і блазнювання була також наявність еротичних моментів, що виявлялися в переслідуванні дівчат, сексуальній свободі, оргіях, які мали магічну функцію, повинні були впливати на майбутній урожай. Очевидно, цим пояснюється розвиток значення "спокушати, зваблювати", пор. рос. соблазнять.

The focal issue of the paper is the linguo-cultural analysis of European phraseological units. The main aspects discussed are the presence of international expressions in phraseological stock of the languages belonging to the European league as well as the national element reflected in idioms.

В статье рассматриваются метафорические выражения,  объясняющие происхождение снега и зафиксированные в традиционной культуре двух народов - литовском и русском. Исследование строится с учетом фактов традиционной культуры других (прежде всего славянских) народов.

Methodes d’etude comparative de l’onomastique du folklore magique des Slaves de l’Est A.V.Yudin (Universite de Gand, Belgique) L’etude onomastique des differents genres folkloriques, et particulierement ceux qui regorgent de noms propres, tels les incantations ou les koliadki, est indispensable afin de completer les resultats de l’analyse des personnages, des motifs et des sujets. Grâce a l’onomastique, nous decrivons une partie de la representation du monde de celui qui participe a ce folklore, partie liee a la tradition orale et ecrite ecclesiastique ou para-ecclesiastique, et nous indiquons en meme temps ses points de contact avec le folklore et leur (inter)action. Un modele formalise proche de la description a facettes du modele de la definition cognitive de J.Bartiminski donne des resultats interessants lorsqu’il s’agit de decrire les noms propres des personnages et des loci, lorsqu’on reste dans le cadre des langues et cultures qui sont etroitement liees. Лексикалните омонимни корелати 'пръст-перст' и 'пръст-земля' са полисемантични и в български, и в руски език. Те са фундаментални концепти в лингвистичния и етнокултурния славистичен спектър и са опорни думи в десетки фразеологични единици от втори ранг. В публикацията първият омоним е представен чрез 18 семантични центъра, а вторият-чрез 7. Анализират се етимологичните, смисловите (прозрачна или непрозрачна мотивация), структурните, стилистичните и дистрибутивните прилики и отлики между фраземите със семантично ядро 'пръст' в двата езика. Конкретизират се начините за продуциране на фразеологизми-метафоризация, метонимизация и ирония.

Polska frazeologia gwaro nie została do tej pory całościowo opracowana. W artykule zwrócono szczególną uwagę na aspekt motywacyjny frazeologii. Zajęto się: 1) słowiańskimi wierzeniami, zwyczajami i legendami o ziemi (Zeby cie świyntá ziemia nie nosiyła; Zeby cie świyntá ziemia nie przijena; Świynty Toma siedzie w doma; Na świyntego Tomasa nie jedź chłopie do lasa; Na świyntego Toma siedź chłopie w doma), powietrzu ({ktoś} przepadnie jak inkluz; Wieje jakby się ktoś (diabeł) powiesił), wodzie (pije jak tynca; tynca pije na dwa kije, a na trzeci połyká; {ktoś} ceká jak kania dzdzu); 2) apokryficznymi legendami (Za świyntego Pietra grzysek cłek nazbiyrá grzibów miesek; {ktoś} trzynsie sie jak Pietrowá mać); 3) ludowymi obrzędami (zdrowy jak piniondz; We wilijom niek i wilcki se uzyjom; Sól świyntyj Agaty chroni przed ogniym chaty; Bazicki zwionzane z bicym poświyncane).

Polish dialectal phraseology has not been fully developed so far. The article focuses on the motivational aspect of phraseology, in particulary: 1) Slavic beliefs, customs and legends about the earth (Zeby cie świyntá ziemia nie nosiyła; Zeby cie świyntá ziemia nie przijena; Świynty Toma siedzie w doma; Na świyntego Tomasa nie jedź chłopie do lasa; Na świyntego Toma siedź chłopie w doma), the air ({ktoś} przepadnie jak inkluz; Wieje jakby się ktoś (diabeł) powiesił), water (drinks like plaster; he drinks plaster with two sticks, and swallowed on the third; {someone} chicks like a kania dzdzu); 2) apocryphal legends (Za świyntego Pietra grzysek cłek nazbiyrá grzibów miesek; {ktoś} trzynsie sie jak Pietrowá mać); 3) folk rituals (zdrowy jak piniondz; We wilijom niek i wilcki se uzyjom; Sól świyntyj Agaty chroni przed ogniym chaty; Bazicki zwionzane z bicym poświyncane).

В статье рассматривается новая этнолингвистическая концепция-культуремы, в том числе некоторые топонимы и антропонимы, принадлежа-щие к ней. Как выясняется, некоторые nomina propria имеют богатую коннота-цию и являются носителями информации, которые позволяют идентифициро-вать личность, отношение к традициям и ценностям, а также являются эле-ментами коллективной памяти. Таким образом, они являются культуремами. The article concerns a new ethnolinguistic concept-culturemes and including some toponyms and anthroponyms. As it turns out, some nomina propria have rich connotations and are carriers of information that allow us to identify identity, attitude to tradition and values, and are also elements of collective memory. Thus, they are culturemes.

The paper focuses on figurative units in Greek, in which primary ideas and images are perceived. There is a common archetype, that leads to the mythological picture of the world. The language units related to different cultural and stereotypical symbols cannot be separated from the mythological or primary unconscious perceptions of the world intertwined in them in a complex way. These ancient traces are stored in the subconscious and further nuance the ongoing contemporary cognitive processes.

The article discusses Slovak dialectal POSÁDEŠ, POŠÁDES, POŠAJDES (denoting various gifts mostly in form of food, especially baked goods, related to traditional wedding and/or other festive occasions) which has been recently compared etymologically with Russian POSAD ‘ritual of seating on an honorary place during the wedding feast’ (deverbative of Slavonic SADITI, perf. PO-SADITI ‘to seat down’; cf. Gura 2012, 2013). The author makes an attempt to develop this hypothesis, according to which the lexeme is autochthonous to Slovak; nevertheless, he prefers the explanation presented by Rudolf (1991: loanword from German BESCHEID-ESSEN ‘food from a feast sent to neighbours, given to guests as a gift for their relatives who did not take part in the celebration, etc.’) which he elaborates against the background of the Slovak dialectal material.
