BACKGROUND Acne effects 80-90% of teenage population all around the world. Resulting scars can lead to facial disfigurement and psychological issues in affected population. To counter this problem many treatment options have been tried including resurfacing lasers, dermabrasion, peeling, fillers, platelet rich plasma therapy etc. All have shown variable results. Among these modalities, micro needling is showing promising results in treatment of acne scars due to collagen induction. This study was conducted to assess efficacy and safety of micro-needling on acne scars. METHODS In this cross-sectional study a total of 50 patients (female 35, male 15) underwent treatment for post acne scarring, 4 sessions of micro-needling were done under local anaesthesia 3 weeks apart over the span of 2 months. Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a group of rare congenital diseases caused by mutations in structural proteins of the dermal/epidermal junction that are characterized by extreme epithelial fragility, which determines the formation of bullae and erosions either spontaneously or after local mechanical traumas. In EB patients, skin fragility leads to many possible complications and comorbidities. One of the most feared complications is the development of cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) that particularly in the dystrophic recessive EB subtype can be extremely aggressive and often metastatic. SCCs in EB patients generally arise more often in the extremities, where chronic blisters and scars are generally located. SCCs represent a big therapeutic challenge in the EB population. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of microfocused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V) for treating moderate to severe atrophic acne scars. Design: Healthy subjects (N=20) seeking correction of moderate to severe atrophic acne scars on the cheeks and/or temples were enrolled. Scars were predominantly rolling- and boxcar-type, affecting an area ≥5.0cm2. Eighteen subjects completed the study. Intervention: The treatment area was marked with 14mm2 and 25mm2 squares and treated with four transducers: 7 MHz (3.0mm focal depth) and 10 MHz (1.5mm focal depth), each in 14mm and 25mm widths. During each session, MFU-V treatment lines were applied 2-3mm apart, within each treatment area, with a maximum length of 25mm.
