moreThis paper aims to explore the changes in unemployment social protection in Europe after 2008 and to discuss the causal relationship between the financial crisis and the unemployment insurance reforms which took place in the period following it.
To this purpose, the unemployment insurance situations in Spain and Denmark will be analyzed before and after 2008. Moreover, comparing these two states, it will be clear that, even if they have both been concerned by the financial crisis, their reactions to the new economic conditions differ dramatically.
