Could an ancient sail survive into sea water environment and what happened to those staying off the coast, in dry conditions, when a naval battle was taking part? Was the factor that old sailclothes were used for other purposes such as bed covers, bags, clothes, etc, enough to make this lack of today’s excavations or something else did also happened? This paper tries to shed some light on the questions above.

Sal artık neredeyse bir metre suya gömülmüştür. Kulübenin tavanında beş adam; de Bisschop ve dört yoldaşı sadece yıldızların aydınlattığı bir Pasifik gecesinde, açlıktan ölmek üzere, bilinmeze doğru sürüklenmektedirler. Birbirine kenetlenmiş bu beş adamın artık tek dileği içecek su ve yiyecek bir şeyler bulabilmektir. Tuamotu adaları, Starbuck ve Panrhyn uzaklarda kalmış; Tahiti Nui II pruvasını Rakahanga resifine çevirmiştir. Ve biraz ileride resifin keskin dişlerinden saçılan köpükler görünmektedir artık.

The Indian Iron and Steel industry contributes significantly to the overall growth and development of the economy. As per the estimation of the ministry of steel, the industry today directly contributes to 2% of India's GDP and its weightage in the official index of Industrial Production (IPP) is 6.2%. The industry has been able to shape out a niche for itself globally. From a country with a production of one million tonnes at the time of independence, it has now become the world's 4 th largest producer of crude steel preceded behind China, Japan and the US The study evaluates the profitability level of selected steel companies to know their financial strength and weakness, it will lead to increase financial tactic to compete with international steel producers. In the present study concludes that the profitability of selected steel companies very fair, except few belongs to mid cap companies, they need effort to stabilize their financial position to meet domestic and global competition. The companies belong to same industry differ in maintaining of profitability in various aspects. Keywords-Profitability, profit Margin, Return on investment, Return on assets, return on net worth.

Sommario Le vele di una imbarcazione sono sottoposte a grandi spostamenti a causa della loro natura altamente flessibile, per tale motivo, la forma che assumono quando sono sottoposte alla forza del vento è differente da quella di progetto stabilita dal velaio. Nel lavoro gli autori propongono un metodo basato sull'utilizzo della tecnica fotogrammetrica per il rilievo in navigazione di vele in vera grandezza. L'utilizzo di tecniche ottiche di Reverse Engineering consente, infatti, la ricostruzione tridimensionale del modello dell'intera vela. Vengono costruiti i modelli CAD delle vele di un'imbarcazione di classe Meteor in condizioni di navigazione (flying shape) e in condizioni di progetto (design shape) che sono analizzati con metodi CFD. Abstract The sails of a vessel are subjected to large displacements due to their highly flexible nature; therefore, the form they take when they are subjected to the force of the wind project is different from that established by the sailmaker. In the work the authors propose a method based on the use of photogrammetric techniques for the relief of sails in navigation in real size. The use of optical techniques of Reverse Engineering allows, in fact, three-dimensional reconstruction model of the entire wing. CAD models of the sails of a boat in the Meteor-class are built in surfing conditions (flying shape) and in design conditions (design, shape) and are analyzed by CFD methods. INTRODUZIONE La vela è una superficie di tela o di sottile e robusto materiale sintetico di forma tale che, utilizzando la forza del vento, genera propulsione. Al fine di realizzare geometrie che ottimizzino le performance dell'imbarcazione, esistono particolari software che consentono al velaio di disegnare la vela con una corretta curvatura, originando la sua design shape cioè la sua forma di progetto. Per ottenere una valutazione del comportamento aerodinamico delle vele progettate, queste possono essere sottoposte ad una analisi CFD, la quale, tuttavia, può fornire previsioni di prestazioni inesatte a causa di una differenza non sempre trascurabile tra la forma a riposo delle vele e quella sotto carico o flying shape, poiché le superfici veliche sono sottoposte a grandi spostamenti a causa della loro natura altamente flessibile.

Birkaç yıl sonra tek başına bir sal üzerinde kendini Pasifik’in koynuna bırakan William Willis üzerinde bunun ne derece etkisi vardır bilemiyorum ama doğaya karşı değil doğayla birlikte olma fikrine inananlar için artık Salların Altın Çağı başlamıştır. Ve peşi sıra Eric de Bisschop, Carlos J. Caraveda Arca, Alain Bombard, Devere Baker bir şekilde kendilerini okyanuslarda bulan kaşifler olarak salların altın çağına adlarını yazdıracaklardır.

Herr Krzysztof Vorbrich hat uns in der Zeit vom 23. Juli 2012 bis zum 07. August 2012  ehrenamtlich geholfen, das Museumsschiff  RICKMER RICKMERS, einen
11      6 Jahre alten Segelfrachter, instand zu halten.

Herr Vorbrich verfuegt ueber auf ausserordentlich umfangreiche Fachkenntnisse. Er kann Aufgaben sehr gut erfassen und auftretende Probleme werden von ihm schnell und sicher geloest. Herr Vorbrich arbeitete stets sehr zuverlaessig und genau. Er integrierte sich in bester Weise in unser Team .
Fuer die Zusammenarbeit und die Mitwirkung auf unserem Museumsschiff danken wir ihm und wunschen fuer die kuenftigen Plaene und das weitere Vorankommen viel Erfolg und persoenlich alles Gute.
