Art therapy is an often provided but little studied treatment option in mental health care.The effectiveness of art therapy in the treatment of anxiety was studied and its working mechanisms were explored. Outcomes of a randomised controlled trial (n=59) showed preliminary evidence of the effectiveness of art therapy. The treatment, consisting of three months of anthroposophic art therapy, showed major reduction of anxiety symptom severity in women, compared to a wait list condition. The therapy also improved quality of life and various aspects of self-regulation: higher HRV at rest (which may indicate an overall lower stress level), improvements in emotion regulation and improvements in daily executive functioning.The second part of this PhD research focused on case report methodology and the development of tools for research within this field, with and for therapists in clinical practice, and for education. The paper presents a review of the therapist’s role and characteristics with reference to issues regarding general and specific training, theoretical and personal background, the capacity to initiate and maintain therapeutic alliance, the setting,
differences between ‘novices’ and ‘experts’, the need for the clinical psychologist to be an active researcher within his/her practice. The concept of ‘responsibility’ as effective integration of technical competencies and ethical values is outlined. Each
of these issues is accompanied by a brief synthesis of the research evidence.

Counseling is a professional service which comes into existence in order to effectively help individuals to solve life problems and issues. Various theories and therapy approaches were introduced by scholars in the field to guide counselling practitioners in carrying out their responsibilities. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is one of the approaches which was founded on the belief that every individuals possess internal locus of self-control in facing life challenges. To be anxious is a normal feeling for anybody in daily life; however, for certain individuals, the feeling becomes so extreme until it disrupts their daily routine and affects their psychological well-being. This concept paper discusses the possible application of SFBT in counselling session in order to help clients with anxiety disorder.

This research paper talks about the mental health illness-Depression. Depression is a medical illness that interferes with an individual's capacity to deal with day to day activities. Our society has a habit of shunning the topic of mental illness and treating it as a taboo. Through our research paper, we have explained the causes, symptoms and different treatments available in India to cure Depression. This report also explores the awareness regarding this subject. There is an urgent need of society to accept that health includes physical as well as mental health.

Riassunto L'autore presenta una breve panoramica del concetto di resilienza, termine mutuato dalla fisica dei materiali e solo di recente indagato dalla psicologia. Della resilienza in psicologia ed in particolare in psicologia dello sport verranno sottolineati gli elementi fondamentali, frutto di una convergenza di studi e ricerche, che possono venire ripresi ed utilizzati in un percorso di aiuto con l'applicazione di tecniche ipnotiche. Verranno presentate poi tre situazioni di lavoro sul campo, due con atleti vittime di infortunio e un caso di atleta disabile, in tre discipline sportive diverse. Abstract The author presents a brief overview of the concept of resilience, a term borrowed from physics of materials and only recently investigated by psychology. Resilience in psychology and in particular in sport psychology will be underlined the fundamental elements, the result of a convergence of research and studies, which can be recovered and used to help with the application of hypnotic techniques. Then three situations will be presented by field work, two accident victims with athletes and a case of disabled athlete, in three different sports.

The psychoanalytic community increasingly recognizes the importance of research on psychoanalytic treatments, yet a significant number of psychoanalysts continue to believe that research is either irrelevant to psychoanalysis or impossible to accomplish. Psychoanalysts who accept the value of research express concern that intrusions required by research protocols create significant distortions in the psychoanalytic process. The authors, all psychoanalysts, are studying the outcome of a brief (twenty-four-session) psychodynamic treatment of panic disorder. They report their experiences and struggles with the intrusions of videotaping, working with a treatment manual, and time-limited treatment. This research process required them to question old beliefs and to confront feelings of disloyalty toward their analytic training and identity, particularly with regard to keeping a "clean field" and routinely performing long-term analysis of character. The therapists' psychoanalytic knowledge, however, emerged as crucial for them in managing specific research constraints. Despite concerns about providing inadequate treatment, therapists were found to engage patients with psychoanalytic tools and focus in vibrant and productive therapies that led to significant improvements in panic symptoms and associated quality of life. The authors suggest that psychoanalysts have been overestimating the potential damage of research constraints on psychoanalytic process and outcome.

This dissertation explores the experience of existential counselling psychologists and psychotherapists providing time-limited therapy. Ten participants were interviewed, using semi-structured interviews, focusing on the emotions, meaning-making processes and attitudes that constitute their experience. The material was analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis - IPA. Five superordinate themes were identified, highlighting the main constituents of the experience of existential therapists in time-limited settings: the experience of time-limitation, the experience of ending, the experience of the therapeutic process, attitudes towards time-limited therapy and support systems. Existing literature on time-limited therapy and the existential approach was utilised to shed light on the results and to reach a better understanding of the implications that this study has on the existential approach, supervisory and training settings, and counselling psychology. As described by many theorists, emotional expressions contribute to the activation and regulation of personal emotional experiences and communicate something about internal states and intentions. These emotional expressions can be observed in the words used in our speech and nonverbal behaviors, even when nonverbal behaviors are synchronized to one's own speech or to the speech of others. Using a quantitative and qualitative methodology, this article reports a classification of verbal emotional expressions of both psychotherapists and patients in change episodes. Assuming that the emotions loaded in linguistic contents are explicit emotions shown by emotion words, this methodology allows for a complete and differentiating assessment of affective qualities in both patients and psychotherapists during the psychotherapeutic dialogue.

Objetivo. Este artículo permite la comprensión y la relación existente entre la terapia familiar sistémica y el lugar del profesional interviniente en el proceso de consulta y se enmarca en la experiencia de formación terapéutica de los estudiantes de la Especialización en Terapia Familiar de la Universidad Católica Luis Amigó en la ciudad de Medellín (Colombia). Metodología. Para este texto se utilizó el enfoque cualitativo desde la perspectiva hermenéutica. Resultados y conclusiones. El escrito potencia las voces de múltiples autores sobre la significancia de posibilitar otros discursos que coadyuvan el quehacer en la intervención con las familias. Se plantean finalmente dos retos en la formación posgradual para lo cual se evoca el placer para llegar a la consulta con la familia y la formación en la humanidad del terapeuta que devela su sentir y ser en el espacio terapéutico con quien brinda su historia para ser leída y comprendida.

The demand on techniques, approaches and processes that have a positive impact on courage, fear and anxiety is very high in general population. The evidence-based and theoretical literature supporting life coaching as a successful approach building individual courage and helping with fear and anxiety is scarce. This integrative literature review synthesises data from previous research studies about the impact of life coaching as an intervention to enhance courage and decrease fear and anxiety. Findings obtained in this study suggest that life coaching is a reliable approach that may enhance individual courage and decrease fear and anxiety.

Objective: To characterise how psychotherapy with people who expereince psychosis is conducted in Poland, and by whom.
Method: A nation-wide online survey and paper and pencil enquiry comprised of 40 questions and addressed mainly to the members of psychological, psychiatric and psychotherapeutic associations was administered to a sample of 1196 people who provide psychotherapy.
Results: Of the 1196 therapists surveyed, 30.8% reported working with people experiencing psychosis. Therapists working with psychotic people were more likely than the rest of the therapists to have graduated in medicine, worked in a
psychiatric hospital or public counselling centre and trained in psychoanalytic or psychodynamic psychotherapy. No difference in gender and age or years of experience was found between the two groups.
Conclusions: The percentage of therapists working with psychotic patients in Poland is similar to the international average, but lower than in Austria. Psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapists play an important role in the psychological treatment of people experiencing psychosis in Poland.

Clients', therapists', and observers' identification of change was studied in 27 therapeutic processes, and agreement on the amount, temporal location, and content of change was related to outcome. Results show that clients reported more changes in successful therapies. Client-therapist temporal match of change moments was low irrespective of outcome. Results from all three perspectives were consistent in that manifestation of new behaviors and emotions was the most representative content of change among all therapies. Meanwhile, client-therapist agreement on the frequency of grouped change indicators reported was associated with positive outcome, whereas client-observer agreement was related to negative outcome. Therapists and observers agreed in both successful and nonsuccessful therapies. The relationship between agreement and therapeutic outcome is discussed in relation to each dimension of analysis.
