A critical review of selected works where manuscript culture plays an important role. The essay ends with some ideas for the future. Particularly relevant in this critical assessment is a recent work on copists' activities in Quattrocento Rome.

In May 1961, an American journalist introduced a Russian press attaché named Georgi Bolshakov to  Attorney  General  Robert Kennedy.

Already in contact with RFK, Bolshakov  suggests the idea of  Khruschev  having a direct line  of communication with Moscow and other staff through Bolshakov himself.  JFK and RFK agreed to energize relations with Moscow.

The reality became  another thing, a "poisonous hook"  and enthusiastically swallowed  by JFK.
