INTRODUCTION: Mobile phone dependence has become an emerging public health problem. This cross-sectional study was conducted to find out the mobile phone involvement and dependence among undergraduate medical students in a Medical College of West Bengal, India. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A study was conducted at IQ City Medical College, Durgapur, District Burdwan, West Bengal, India, during July–August 2015 among 252 undergraduate medical students. Involvement and dependence were elicited by mobile phone involvement questionnaire (MPIQ) and mobile phone dependence questionnaire (MPDQ), respectively. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software (version 19.0) was used for analysis. RESULTS: About 14.9% of students were being highly involved with their mobile phone. The mean score of MPIQ was greatest in domain 5, i.e. euphoria followed by domain 2, i.e. behavioral salience and then domain 4, i.e. conflict with other activities. The importance and the uses of mobile phone are being increasing extensively in the present time. Mobile phone helps us in many ways. But at the same time some very serious problems have also emerged because of the mobile phone. With this background investigator conducted the present investigation to reach to the solutions of some important questions. Viz. How many students are using mobile phone? What are the objectives of the students for using mobile phone? How much time they spend for mobile phone? Is mobile phone effect adversely to the students learning as well as their relationship? etc. Investigator collected necessary data from the 200 college students of Surat city through the questionnaire prepared by him. The analysis of the data revealed some very important and interesting findings which suggest that the students should use the mobile phone more carefully. Moreover, parents would have to play a very crucial role in these perspectives.

Changes in the Range of Motion (ROM) are essential criteria in determining the severity of spinal disorders and could be effective in predicting pain progression. Instruments to measure the ROM are costly and unavailable in most therapy settings. While there is a tendency in therapists to use their smartphones instead, there is no report to measure the suitability of smartphones to be employed for this purpose. The current study aimed to compare the interand intra-rater reliability and concurrent validity of a Cervical Range of Motion (CROM) device (as a gold standard), a digital inclinometer, and smartphones in measuring the CROM in asymptomatic adults. Methods: Twenty-four healthy subjects (11 women, 13 men) aged 22 to 45 years were recruited for this study. Neck movements were assessed per study subject using CROM device, dual digital inclinometer, as well as IOS (for iPhone), and Android applications. Despite the popularity of using smartphone applications, there was no study comparing such applications.

Administrative data allows us to count for the number of residents. The geo-localization of people by mobile phone, by quantifying the number of people at a given moment in time, enriches the amount of useful information for "smart" (cities) evaluations. However, using Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) data, we are able to characterize the spatio-temporal dynamic of the presences in the city of just TIM users. A strategy to estimate total presences is needed. In this paper we propose a strategy to extrapolate the number of total people by using TIM data only. To do so, we apply a spatial record linkage of mobile phone data with administrative archives using the number of residents at the level of sezione di censimento.

Mobile phone is an important innovation of the present period. Mobile phone is commonly used in Pakistan in new millennium. Moreover, it has reduced the distance among individuals and made social interaction often fast. It is one of the greatest technologies of the 21st century. Mobile phone has become a phenomenon and an addiction: to own at least one cell phone. It has now become a part of daily life and without mobile phones; people would be lost in this high-tech world. The Present study was designed to investigate the impacts of mobile on the performance of the students. The overall objective of the study is to explore the impacts of mobile on the academic performance of the students.

We employ a balanced panel data set of 28 stock exchanges to disentangle the effects of demutualization and outsider ownership on the operative per-formance of stock exchanges. For this purpose we calculate in a first step individual efficiency and factor productivity values via DEA. In a second step we regress the derived values against variables that- amongst others- rep-resent the different governance regimes at exchanges in order to determine efficiency and productivity differences between (1) mutuals (2) demutualized but customer-owned exchanges and (3) publicly listed and thus at least partly outsider-owned exchanges. We find evidence that demutualized exchanges exhibit higher technical efficiency than mutuals. However, they perform rel-atively poor as far as productivity growth is concerned. Furthermore, we find no evidence that publicly listed exchanges possess higher efficiency and productivity values than demutualized exchanges with a customer-dominated structure.

This paper presents a novel approach defined as “Lab-on-Phone” which is a new “Dielectric Footprint Measure” platform, specially for food quality control with storage and administration processes over the Internet. It can also be used for other types of products making minimal changes. A small acquisition device, with an inter-digitized capacitor sensor sends measurements to a smartphone via Near Field Communication (NFC) protocol. An Android application installed on the smartphone displays these measurements in a graph and sends them to a web server via Wi-Fi or cellphone network. For example, Lab-on-Phone allows users to know on site the food quality, and to companies, to have a quality control sensor network with a data base and a web server. The current study aims to distinguish between two perspectives dominating the mobile phone addiction literature, addiction to a mobile phone and addiction through a mobile phone (i.e. addiction to mobile phone application). We extend state-of-the-art addiction literature by building on dual-systems theory and investigating both perspectives in the same theoretical model. We empirically test our model (n=333) and results provide support for all of the hypothesized relationships. Results indicate that addiction to mobile phones can't be fully explained by addiction to mobile phone applications. Theoretical and practical contributions of the study is discussed.
