« Le désir d’enfant exploré à travers les pratiques de nomination »
Dans les sociétés occidentales, nommer l’enfant nouveau-né est aujourd’hui une responsabilité dévolue aux parents signataires de la déclaration de naissance, c’est-à-dire à ceux qui ont désiré que cet enfant devienne leur fils ou leur fille. Ce sont eux qui doivent lui transmettre un nom de famille et choisir les prénoms lui conférant une identité propre. À partir de l’analyse de 25 témoignages de parents québécois recueillis en entrevues, cet article explore le lien étroit établi entre désir d’enfant, filiation et nomination. L’analyse des récits sur l’histoire du couple, sur la naissance d’un premier enfant et sur les discussions entourant sa nomination aide à comprendre le sens que les parents donnent à l’enfant et à sa venue, et révèle que ce choix reflue parfois sur le choix du prénom.

'Child Desire Explored through Naming Practices'
In Western societies, naming a newborn child is the responsibility of the parent(s) who sign the birth registration form, the very ones who have desired this child. They assign the child one, or both, of their last names, and choose a first name to give the new baby a unique identity. This article explores the link between childbearing desire, parentage and naming practices. It relies upon 25 interviews of Quebec parents recounting their conjugal and parental history and the birth and naming of their first child. The analysis of these narratives on the formation of the couple, of the birth of their first child and of the naming process helps us understand that for each parent the meaning of the child desire and of the couple’s project bears an influence on the choice of the child’s last name and of his first name as well.

« El deseo de tener hijo explorado a través de las prácticas de nominación »
En las sociedades occidentales, nombrar un recién nacido es actualmente una responsabilidad atribuida a los padres que firman el acta de nacimiento, es decir, a quienes han deseado que dicho recién nacido se convierta en su hijo o su hija. Son ellos quienes deberán transmitirle un apellido y escoger los nombrse que le conferirán una identidad. A partir del análisis de 25 entrevistas de padres quebequenses, este artículo explora la estrecha relación que se establece entre el deseo de tener hijos, la filiación y la nominación. El análisis de los testimonios sobre la historia de la pareja, sobre el nacimiento del primogénito y sobre las discusiones en torno a la nominación nos permiten comprender el significado que los padres dan al infante y a su llegada y muestra que dicha elección recae a veces sobre la elección del nombre.

Abstract: The origins of the notarial institution in El Puerto de Santa María had some very interesting features, given the changes of ownership -from royal jurisdiction to lordship and from one lord to another- that the town underwent at the end of the XIII century and the beginning of the XIV. The discovery of a notarial document from 1293 in the Archive of the Monastery of San Clemente in Seville has allowed me, along with other items of information, to prepare a brief study on the public notaries of El Puerto during this period, with due attention to their implementation, designation, number, organization chart and activity of the notaries of the town.
Resumen: Los orígenes de la institución notarial en El Puerto de Santa María revistieron unas particularidades sumamente interesantes, dados los cambios de titularidad –de realengo a señorío y de señor a otro señor– que sufrió la villa a fines del siglo XIII y principios del XIV. El hallazgo de un documento notarial portuense de 1293 en el Archivo del Monasterio de San Clemente de Sevilla ha permitido, junto con otras noticias, la elaboración de un breve estudio sobre las escribanías públicas de El Puerto durante este período, con atención a su implantación, nominación, número, organigrama y actividad de los notarios de la villa.
