The modern Western world is colored by the concept of Judeo-Christian morality; it affects all of us to some degree, even if we are not religious. Morality in our society alters our perspective on the present and can radically skew our view of the past. The Roman world is one that, at times, can seem very alien to us. Normal actions that we view now as immoral and even at times horrific were not only socially acceptable, but in fact honorable. Come and see if you can step outside modern bias to truly interpret the past. Lecture by historian Lauren A. M. Hammersen
