Complementary analysis of satellite mission data (altimetry, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometers (MODIS)) and climate fields over 2000–2009 was conducted to investigate the variability of the water cover surfaces and the geographical source of water inflowing into the Lake Poopó system. The results suggest that over the time span of 2000–2009 a great part of the variability of the Poopó system originates from geographic sources other than Lake Titicaca. Possible alternative causes include climate change inducing increased temperatures and greater evaporation rates along the Altiplano; increased glacier and snow melting over the Andes Cordillera; and a potential increased anthropogenic water use (such as irrigation, minery, etc.) throughout the path of the Desaguadero River (which connects lakes Titicaca and Poopó). This change in the hydrology of this region could lead to a collapse of water supplies and endanger the already fragile Poopó system as well as the regional socioeconomic system, which closely depends upon it.

About 97% is found in the oceans and is very salty for drinking, irrigation, or industry. The remaining 3% is fresh water. About 2.997% of it is arrested in ice caps or glaciers or is concealed so deep that it costs too much time & money to extract. Only about 0.0035 of Earth's total volume of water is easily available to us as soil moisture, exploitable ground water, water vapor, rivers, lakes and streams. In this present study by a systematic sampling has been carried out to find the water quality parameters of the Lake, by collecting samples from Six different positions, which covering entire area of the lake, and the stations were distributed covering the periphery of the entire tank, and also considering the inflow and the discharges and to suggest required management techniques to make water free from the pollution S a esh a u V V rasada ao and V aju

Based on the data from scholars papers but principally in (1), I've made a GIS data set for the late Pleistocene lake cycles on the southern Bolivian Altiplano.

I've prepared three different data sets: two to work with, and another Google Earth data set only for view the results. Also as an end work I've made some videos showing animations of lakes up fill (different lakes), in these videos 'the direction in which the lake fills' are not real in all cases, see (1) to elucidate the up fill direction at the Laca hydrologic divide for each paleolake.

The core work for extracting the shorelines has been done in the GRASS console with the r.lake GRASS module ..., a lot of command lines, see the hist directory in the GRASS project (in one of the huge datasets), here you can see all the commands used to do the work.

This paper attempts to examine the impact of 2010 Attaabad landslide on livelihood of upper stream population of upper Hunza, Pakistan. Mohoş Swamp is an oligotroph swamp, formed in a volcanic crater on the site of a former lake, which permanently changes. Using a series of modern methods such as ultrasound bathymetry, we want to set up a reference base so that in the future one can be able to determine the rhythm and direction of the development of this complex ecosystem, both in terms of morph metrics and chemical hydrology parameters point of view. Bathymetry and geomorfological study represents the most important stage because it makes it possible to establish the concrete characteristics of the investigated lakes as well as their placement.

Environmental risk about water quality of lakes in Kurtna landscape reserve (Estonia) by the study of water temperature and dissolved oxygen. The Kurtna reserve (North-Eastern Estonia) includes about forty lakes of hydro-glacial origin, among which the most are kettle hole lakes. Since 1997, Poeciliopsis infans Woolman 1894 has been recognized as a new inhabitant of Lake Patzcuaro, Michoacan in Central Mexico. Between February 1997 and October 1998, nine fish samples were collected at Lake Patzcuaro. Morphometric and meristic counts were conducted on a random selection of 40 organisms of both sexes of Poeciliopsis infans. Males of these viviparous fish posses a modified anal fin called gonopodium. The characteristic hemal spine on the 18th caudal vertebra for this species is described herein and the bony components of the gonopodial structure and suspensoria that together comprise the gonopodial system, which is important for taxonomic studies at various levels of classification were reviewed. The Upper Triassic Chinle Formation and the Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation preserve a record of lacustrine deposition along the western margin of tropical Pangaea and post-Pangaean North America. Innovative conceptualization of ecosystem’s biomachinery (a new scientific term that was proposed by the author; it means ecological mechanisms that include biological communities and biodiversity) which improves water quality. The innovative experimental data analysis, concepts, and generalizations in this article provide the fundamental elements of the new qualitative theory of biocontrol of water quality in a systematized form. The theory covers water self-purification in freshwater and marine ecosystems. The theory is supported by the results of the author’s experimental studies of the effects exerted by some chemical pollutants including synthetic surfactants, detergents, and other xenobiotics on aquatic organisms. The new fundamental conceptualization provides a basis for remediation of polluted aquatic ecosystems including purification of water bodies and streams, and briefly present the qualitative theory of the self-purification mechanism of aquatic ecosystems, phytoremediation and other types of technologies.
