Las repeticiones de elementos tanto poéticos y lingüísticos como de estructuras lingüísticas, literarias y métricomusicales,
y las repeticiones melódicas en los repertorios orales medievales son recursos conscientes. Tienen por
objetivo tejer una red de elementos formales fónicos que forman parte de un sistema mnemotécnico
interdisciplinario y cuya finalidad es la eficiencia comunicativa. El propósito de estos trabajos es mostrar la
posible pervivencia de fenómenos de oralidad concepcional universal (ámbitos pragmático-textual y sintáctico) en
los textos trovadorescos occitanos. Para ello partimos de una aproximación lingüística pragmático-interaccionista
histórica. El presente estudio tiene la voluntad de contribuir a la ‘recontextualización’ (en su estructura básica) de
dichos textos como eventos discursivo-comunicativos originarios.

The buildings on Bombay's Backbay Reclamations that came up in the 1930s and 1940s are now considered icons of the city and are collectively referred to as 'Art Deco'. Two sets of buildings – the ones facing the Oval Maidan and the Marine Drive in South Bombay best represent this appellation. While their exuberant facades and their (sometimes idiosyncratic) applied ornament invite appreciation and delight in contemporary viewers, they also form connotative repositories of a time of change and modernisation, and of an international and universal outlook developing in its citizens. In the current literature, these buildings have been largely studied from a historical/ stylistic perspective, placing them synchronously in the development of Bombay's/India's architecture in the early 20th century.

We assert that an ahistoric re-examination, by reading these buildings semiotically as a system of signs, would elicit more useful meanings leading to a better understanding of the architecture of the period. With this in mind, we examine the facades of the Oval Maidan and Marine Drive buildings as agglomerations of semes (basic meaning trait or distinguishing quality) that connote references and concepts that express their age. Using analytical models from visual semiotics (described variously by Saussure, Greimas and Matozzi), we examine the facades as texts, breaking them down for syntax (the order of the elements) and collating the semes to form isotopies (repetitions of traits).

In order to articulate isotopy usefully, two terms are also coined- 'enhancers' or semes that synchronically work with architectural elements and 'nuancers', the diachronous, often iconic ornament-semes on the building. Semiotic isotopies formed by enhancers and nuancers are then analysed for connotative meaning to chart a narrative of the architecture. Through the uniform readings so found, we position the Backbay buildings as speakers for the city's emerging modernity.

In this work we present the algebraic and geometric classification of Jordan algebras of small dimensions over an algebraically closed field $k$ of $char k eq 2$ and over the field of real numbers. The algebraic classification was accomplished in two ways: up to isomorphism and up to isotopy. On the other hand, the geometric classification was obtained studying the varieties of Jordan algebras $Jor_$ for $n\leq4$ and $JorR_$ for $n\leq3$. We prove that $Jor_$ has 73 orbits under the action of $GL(V)$ and it is the union of Zariski closures of the orbits of 10 rigid algebras, each of which corresponds to one irreducible component. Analogously, we show that $JorR_$ has 26 orbits and is the union of Zariski closures of the orbits of 8 rigid algebras. Also we obtain that the number of irreducible components in $Jor_$ is $\geq26$. We construct three families of indecomposable non-semisimple, non-associative rigid algebras which for any $n\geq5$, correspond to irreducible components of $Jor_$ and $JorR_$.

El propósito más notable de la narrativa de Lovecraft es suscitar en el lector el miedo por lo desconocido, la emoción más antigua del ser humano. A ello contribuyen elementos textuales que se disponen y estructuran en trayectos semánticos, como la ambientación y el imaginario del autor. El análisis de la isotopía de lo múltiple en los tres relatos elegidos —«Las ratas de las paredes», «La casa evitada» y «El modelo de Pickman»—, muestra la significativa participación de este itinerario temático en los ambientes y formas pesadillescas del imaginario lovecraftiano, y sirve de aproximación a las estructuras textuales que contribuyen a suscitar el horror cósmico.

Define-se veridicção como o modo do dizer verdadeiro de um discurso. Ele difere do conceito ontológico de verdade por prescindir do referencial extralinguístico. Na semiótica, a veridicção se constitui por meio dasmodulações das categorias do ser e do parecer e é estabelecida pelo contrato fiduciário, uma coordenação de mecanismos epistêmicos instalados tanto no enunciador quanto no enunciatário. As narrativas de milagres bíblicos oferecem um interessante espaço para a discussão sobre o mecanismo da veridicção. Ao descreverem algo impossível de realizar, essas narrativas colocam em evidência o processo linguístico pelo qual se processa o sentido. No presente artigo, descreveremos o conceito e o mecanismo de veridicção conforme a semiótica gremasiana. Também será apresentado o estatuto semiótico e o programa narrativo do milagre tendo como referência a proposta do Groupe d’Entrevernes. The present study provides new data of the Middle-Upper Triassic successions and their deformation in the eastern Iberian Chain, where contractional tectonics during the Cenozoic disrupted this Mediterranean type of Triassic rocks. The succession, divided into three Muschelkalk units, was studied in the Alt Palància area. In this area, both the lower and upper Muschelkalk consist of two main types of sub-units, those made up of carbonate and those of carbonate-marl alternation. The marked similarity observed between the evaporite units of the middle Muschelkalk and the Keuper hampers their unambiguous discrimination in the field. The integration of geological mapping, stratigraphic logging, palynological dating and gypsum isotope analysis should provide that: i) a change in the structural style, facies, and depositional thickness occurs across a SW to NE transect at both sides of the Espina-Espadà Fault, providing evidence for the extensional activity of this major structure; ii) palynological data assign Anisian age to the Röt facies and to the lower and the middle Muschelkalk units, and Ladinian to the upper Muschelkalk unit; iii) the δ34SCDT and δ18OSMOW values of gypsum are an useful proxy to discriminate between the middle Muschelkalk (δ34S: 15.6 to 17.8‰) and the Keuper (δ34S: 14 to 15.5‰) units; and iv) the isotopic signature also helps to identify clayey-marly-gypsiferous outcrops made up of the two evaporite facies due to tectonic juxtaposition. These results confirm the Mediterranean type of Triassic rocks for the entire Alt Palància and other areas to the NE. This multidisciplinary approach has proved to be a robust method to study Triassic basins in Iberia and in other geological domains where the carbonate-evaporite successions have been greatly disrupted by tectonism.

In this Master\u27s Thesis we give an overview of the algebraic structure of sets with a single binary operation. Specifically, we are interested in quasigroups and loops and their historical connection with Latin squares; considering them in both finite and continuous variations. We also consider various mappings between such algebraic objects and utilize matrix representations to give a negative conclusion to a question concerning isotopies in the case of quasigroups
