Abstract:

Generative AI, a rapidly evolving field within artificial intelligence, has sparked both excitement and concern across various sectors of society. This paper, "Generative AI: Fear, Facts, and Fiction," critically examines the myths, legitimate concerns, and empirical realities surrounding the rise of generative models. While fears about AI displacing jobs, manipulating information, and fostering misinformation dominate public discourse, the paper explores these concerns through the lens of evidence-based analysis. It addresses the ethical challenges and potential societal impact while debunking common misconceptions that fuel AI-related anxieties. By distinguishing between fear-mongering and factual understanding, this work offers a balanced perspective on how generative AI can reshape industries, augment human creativity, and improve decision-making processes. Ultimately, this paper advocates for informed conversations and responsible AI deployment as the key to unlocking the technology’s full potential without succumbing to undue fear or exaggerated claims.

In our paper, we present a computational morphology for Old and Middle Hungarian used in two research projects that aim at creating morphologically annotated corpora of Old and Middle Hungarian. In addition, we present the web-based disambiguation tool used in the semi-automatic disambiguation of the annotations and the structured corpus query tool that has a unique but very useful feature of making corrections to the annotation in the query results possible.

Abstract:

This paper examines the role and impact of legislative-enacted rules on privacy and data protection in contemporary legal systems. As digital technologies advance and data collection becomes ubiquitous, privacy concerns have prompted governments to implement a range of regulatory frameworks designed to safeguard personal information. This study explores the evolution of privacy legislation, analyzing key legal instruments such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in the United States, and other significant national and international regulations. Through a comparative analysis, the paper assesses how these laws address various aspects of data protection, including consent, data access, and breach notification requirements. The research highlights both the successes and limitations of these legislative measures in achieving their objectives and considers the implications for individuals, businesses, and policymakers. By identifying best practices and areas for improvement, the paper contributes to the ongoing discourse on enhancing privacy protections in an increasingly data-driven world.

Abstract: The reliance on obsolete communication infrastructure and outdated technologies, in order to meet increasing electricity demand, consists of major challenges confronting traditional power grids. Therefore, the concept of smart grids (SGs) has been adopted as an ideal solution. This concept entails the integration of advanced information and communication technologies (ICTs) into power grids, as well as allowing a two-way flow of communication. Il tema dell'Intelligenza Artificiale (d'ora in avanti AI) è ritornato in primo piano in tempi recenti sulla scorta della messa in rete a fine 2022 di ChatGPT, un potente simulatore di conversazioni (chatbot). Molti dei temi e delle preoccupazioni che avevano seguito l'avventura dell'AI ai suoi inizi, nel 1956, sono riemersi prepotentemente. L'avvento di un'AI innestata sull'Internet, e dunque in potenziale connessione con ogni utente, e con ogni istituzione connessa in rete, rappresenta davvero un evento dalle implicazioni rilevanti e potenzialmente assai preoccupanti.
