Formulasi Sediaan Salep Dari Ekstrak Daun Katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr.)

Katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr.) is a plant that has secondary metabolic compounds with various potentials and contains several chemical compounds, including papaverine alkaloids, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, saponins, flavonoids and tannins. Katuk leaves can work as antioxidants because they contain phenolic compounds, namely flavonoids. The potential of katuk leaves is also supported by research on pharmacological activities as antibacterial, antihypertensive, antihyperlipidemic, anti-infective, anti-inflammatory, antianemic and increasing milk production. The purpose of this study was to determine whether katuk leaves can be formulated in the form of an ointment. Ointment is defined as a semi-solid preparation that is easily applied and used as an external drug. Benchmarking clinical pharmacy services in the United Arab Emirates with United States of America and Sweden

Context: Clinical Pharmacy services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are evolving, mostly with reference to the advancements in the United States of America (USA). American and Swedish healthcare agencies are operating healthcare facilities in the UAE. Benchmarking the advancements from observations of Clinical Pharmacists or Pharmacists in these regions is valuable. Aims: To benchmark key characteristics of clinical pharmacy services in the UAE with the USA and Sweden. Methods: Cross-sectional surveys were carried out, closed-ended questions to assess the association of pharmacist-physician relationship, patients' demand for the clinical pharmacy services, and the importance of clinical pharmacy with various factors. The pharmacists' perception and opinions towards clinical pharmacy roles using open-ended questions were investigated. Data were analyzed using SPSS ® V26. Results: Out of 250 pharmacists approached, 190 completed the questionnaire (76% response rate); most of them, 88.4%, were clinical pharmacists and had more than 2 years in practice. Pharmacists or Clinical Pharmacists from the UAE did rate clinical pharmacy services lower compared to their counterparts in Sweden and the USA, for example, “do patients demand clinical pharmacy services in your country”; [Sweden: (60/64, 93.75%), vs. UAE (17/63, 27.0%), p<0.005] and [USA: (50/63, 79.4%), vs. UAE (17/63, 27.0%), p<0.005]. In addition, physicians’ support, time efficiency of clinical pharmacy services, value for money to the payers (p<0.05) were other examples that UAE respondents rated low (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study suggests that clinical pharmacy services in the UAE need significant improvements to be on par with practices in the USA and Sweden.

Antipiretik Ekstrak Etanol Daun Kemangi Aceh (Ocimi sancti folium) Pada Mencit

Traditional medicine or herbal medicine is widely used by ordinary people because it is considered safer than the use of modern medicine. This is because traditional medicine has fewer side effects than modern medicine. The purpose of this study was to observe the antipyretic effect of the ethanolic extract of basil leaves on mice. The experimental design in this study used a completely randomized design (CRD) where there were 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments in this study were control/P0 (not vaccinated and given extract), P1 (mouse vaccinated and given 0.5 ml of basil leaf extract), P2 (mouse vaccinated and given 0.7 ml of basil leaf extract), P3 (mouse vaccinated and given aquadest). The results showed that the body temperature of the mice that had increased due to the DPT vaccine had decreased after being given basil leaf extract. The P2 treatment, namely the extract treatment as much as 0.7 ml gave a significant effect on reducing the body temperature of mice
