Gottfried von Strassburg

Diese Bibliographie habe ich im Sommersemester 2016 für die Studierenden meines BA-Grundseminars zu Gottfrieds von Straßburg 'Tristan' an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf erstellt. Die Literaturhinweise richten sich an Studierende und sollen diesen die wichtigsten Textausgaben und Hilfsmittel sowie die neueste Forschungsliteratur zum 'Tristan' zugänglich machen. Die Liste erhebt keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit.

If you like old legends and how they change through centuries, if you consider these old stories have roots in older civilizations, often disappeared or completely transmuted by time, you will find this Tristan and Iseult story particularly inspiring. People have written so much about it that we have a forest of visions (hiding the simplest trees of common sense) brought by a relatively reduced methodological approaches and methods.
Si vous aimez le cochon, vous serez gâté et vous apprendrez que l'amour n'est que cochon et truie, mais on vous apprendra aussi que le cochon est un animal divin, de l'autre côté de la barrière du réel. Ne parlons pas de la truie puisqu'elle est l'entremetteuse entre l'homme et la salvation suprême. Ah ! le péché originel ! Revu et corrigé à la graisse de saindoux, de sein-doux, de Saint Doux.

L’esilio di Tristano e Isotta nella selva interrompe le vicissitudini dell’adulterio consumato alla corte di re Marco in Cornovaglia e prelude alla definitiva separazione e alla morte degli amanti.
L’interpretazione che Gottfried von Straßburg dà della vicenda innesta nel plot romanzesco un intermezzo lirico: musica e poesia sottraggono temporaneamente gli amanti ai morsi delle privazioni e della colpa (e Tristano musico e maestro agli obblighi di Tristano cavaliere, cacciatore e trickster). Il passo ridefinisce il significato degli elementi narrativi di repertorio, il bando, la foresta, la grotta, la caccia, l’arpa, il talamo, la spada. L’esibizione della lama snudata tra i corpi vestiti degli amanti - motivo ricorrente e opaco - fa la parodia di celeberrimi luoghi letterari (dalla leggenda giudaico-cristiana di re David e da Amicus et Amelius, dove la spada è pegno di astinenza e castità), finendo per dire altro: la spada è quella donata da Marco a Tristano durante l’investitura e ne è poi morto Moroldo, sporcando irreparabilmente le relazioni fra i protagonisti del triangolo.
Il passo della Minnegrotte di Gottfried viene qui proposto da una delle redazioni manoscritte più antiche, Monaco, BSB, Cgm 51 (intitolato da una rubrica moderna Herr Tristrant). I codici di Heidelberg (Cpg 360) e Monaco, che trasmettono il romanzo incompiuto di Gottfried con la ‘continuazione’ di Ulrich von Türheim, divergono nell’estensione del lungo episodio. Alcune sequenze presenti nel manoscritto di Heidelberg (con la stilizzazione ovidiana, le allegorie e la disillusa autobiografia sentimentale del poeta) sono assenti in quello di Monaco. Il codice monacense, un Tristano ‘istoriato’, ne offre una versione ridotta, un testo talora banalizzato e un interessante layout. Gruppi di miniature a tutta pagina ne riproducono le scene salienti con l’accompagnamento di didascalie, aggiunte nel tempo da svariate mani. L’illustrazione al f. 90r, nei tre registri include l’azione completa dell’episodio riletto in questo volume: il bando dalla corte; la spada nel talamo; la riammissione a corte di Tristrant e Isot.

There are available by now many arguments concerning the intrinsic and endemic value
of the humanities, and both from a medievalist and a modernist perspective. Similarly, there
continue to be many critics who would not mind the elimination of the humanities and argue
vociferously for this goal. Every critical investigation of how to defend our field thus proves to be
highly valuable, but we in the humanities must also develop specific points concerning the
importance of our research that will convince both students, parents, administrators, and politicians
in concrete, pragmatic terms regarding the supreme relevance of college education. Fortunately, the
current COVID-19 crisis has also profiled in a dramatic fashion what proves to be of fundamental
importance for human life, both past and present, reminding us of the critical importance of the
humanities. An existence without virtues, a completely narcissistic or egoistical concept of life, or a
society entirely predicated on materialistic interests would cut us off from our own future. This
article discusses several literary works and also a modern movie in which the constant quest for
meaning and relevance in our lives comes to the fore and gives us direction and understanding.

Die Untersuchung fokussiert ein Thema, das in der Forschung zwar immer wieder angesprochen, jedoch bisher vor allem unter topischen Aspekten betrachtet – und damit stillgestellt – wurde. Die Studie möchte den Topos des Drachenkampfes als Signum des Helden genauer befragen, kritisch beleuchten und eben dasjenige in den Blick nehmen, was sich der topischen Grundlage entzieht. Über gattungstheoretische, semantische und kulturhistorische Kontextualisierungen, vor allem aber durch eine entsprechende Textanalyse, die die differenzierte und differenzierende Umsetzung des Topos vom Drachenkampf innerhalb der Kudrun sowie Gottfrieds von Straßburg Tristan in den Blick nimmt, wird gezeigt, dass der Topos des Drachenkampfes in der literarischen Umsetzung eben mehr ist als ein feststehendes Motiv. So kann letztlich dargelegt werden, inwiefern sich über den je eigenen Drachenkampf subtile Deutungsmöglichkeiten ergeben, die wiederum das Heldenbild grundlegend nuancieren, umformen oder völlig neu entwerfen. Angestrebt wird dabei, das Drachenkampfmotiv neu zu beleuchten und sowohl die Heldenrollen als auch die Rolle der weiblichen Protagonisten in ihrem wechselseitigen Zusammenspiel differenzierter zu fassen.

Várias foram as questões em relação às proposições de autoria/autor que tanto demarcaram alguns debates nas diversas áreas das Humanidades ao longo século passado e que, atualmente, encontram-se em uma espécie de “limbo” teórico que acabou por delegá-las um espaço de digressão secundário nos estudos históricos. Em que pese os efeitos causados pela assim chamada “crise dos paradigmas” nas Ciências Sociais durante a segunda metade do século passado, as preocupações teóricas e metodológicas que orientam o fazer historiográfico impõem aos profissionais da História formas diversas de investigação, sobretudo, em relação ao debate acerca dos textos literários e a busca de uma percepção ou compreensão social, política, cultural de uma época específica. O presente artigo objetiva, então, refletir acerca dos paradigmas de autor/autoria encontrados na literatura medieval, em especial, aqueles oferecidos nos romances tristanianos produzidos entre os séculos XII e XIII, cujos autores indicados são Béroul e Gottfried von Strassburg. Autores esses que, além de apontarem para si e para o seu ofício intelectual e memorialístico, se propuseram a contar suas respectivas versões da lenda, frutos do ambiente nobiliárquico em primazia no Ocidente medieval e dos ideais de comportamento e etiqueta vinculados a este grupo social em específico.

As a later manuscript of Gottfried’s ‘Tristan’, the ‘Brussels Tristan’ manu- script (Ms. 14697) stages the secret/secrecy in an extraordinary way. Only a very small community of insiders knows about the secrets, the related actions or even the taboos. Both narratives, the text and the picture, integrate the recipient and pur- posely involve him or her in the action through perspective and focus. The pictures in particular undermine the maxim of the “non-presence of the viewer”. The painter creates an opening in the architecture especially for the viewer, through which only he or she can see the adultery. In this way, the viewer initially shares the mys- tery of the figures in the picture, but from his omniscient perspective it is also easier to grasp the meaning of the events. Along these lines, text and images of the manu- script direct the sympathy of the recipient. As the keeper of a secret he feels like be- longing to an exclusive group, so that he becomes an confindant and sympathizer.
