Officially, the 300-year enslavement of Africans in America desisted on December 06, 1865, by virtue of the Thirteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution. (African slaves were brought to so-called Spanish Florida as early as the 1560s.) Dismally, however, Morton's Fork ruled where blacks were concerned; it is an abominable fact that for the three quarters of a century supervening slavery-1865 to1940-capricious, malicious and tendentious applications of obscure, generally anachronistic-as well as flat-out concocted-legalities (not to mention thousands of lynchings) were foisted exclusively upon countless black men and (some) black women who were methodically sentenced to years of hard labor for lack of monies (as most all employers refused to hire blacks) to pay fines imposed for allegedly committing various (mostly trumped-up) misdemeanors.

I was sent a copy of this from Dr. James Kelley, an expert I have used in some of my cases to prove fruadulent debt collection practices. I hope you find it interesting and supportive of the need for criminal action against those Chase officers and officials who use fraud and crime to hurt people.

The letter begins:

Dear Mr. Dimon: We are deeply troubled by recent reports that JPMorgan Chase ("Chase")-the nation's largest bank with over $3.2 trillion in assets-has renewed its predatory practice of robo-signing purported evidence of credit card debt to sue customers during the pandemic. 1 We were concerned to hear that this practice has resumed after the January 1, 2020 expiration of Chase's consent order with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ("CFPB" or Bureau). We request that Chase provide detailed information regarding the bank's credit card debt collection practices. Chase should not utilize robo-signing in pursuing these debt collection suits, or any other debt.

The first draft of this research study paper examines arguments and events emanating from "an aggressive and well organised movement to position the study of Sanskrit as a political background. They claim it is infused with toxic elements supporting Vedic, brahminic and royal hegemony and that it encodes oppressive views of shudras, women, Muslims and all those who can be construed as Others. They see Sanskrit as a repository of Vedic knowledge (shastra) or of politically motivated literature, (kavya) , all to be studied as curious vestiges of an outgrown past. They regard the oral tradition as marginal. Efforts to revive Sanskrit as a living language are seen as linked to Hindu violence and as hostile to the oppressed masses". This article reconsiders features of the historical novel in the light of recent critical debates. Bearing in mind the overarching theme of the hybridization of the historiographic and literary genres, the article examines in detail Wu Ming’s Manituana (Wu Ming 2007a) and Wu Ming 4’s solo novel, Stella del mattino (Wu Ming 4 2008a). In both works the rewriting of historical characters follows a thread of verisimilitude against the backdrop of meticulously reconstructed historical scenarios. By focusing on these two novels, the aim is to underline the convergence of Wu Ming novels, in terms of intention and narrative techniques, with contemporary historiography. In so doing, emphasis is given to passages characterized by the representation of historical violence and passages in which the reader is able to grasp, among the scattered fragments of history, moments of the utopian impetus, thanks to the narration of communal moments of being and everyday life practices.

This article describes the approach and the experiences of the author as the former director of the Memorial House of the Wannsee-Conference in organizing three bilateral seminars for high-ranking police officers from Germany and Poland in the field of (civic) Holocaust education. The seminars looked at the history of the police in Germany and Poland in the 1920ies to 1940ies, the way how antisemitic hate crime was tackled in the interwar years and how police forces became central actors in the implementation of the Holocaust and other genocidal policies during WWII. The seminar was organized in order to sensitize police officers and educators to the historical legacy of their profession and to look grow aware of their particular responsibility when fighting hate-crime - in particular racist and antisemitic hate crime today.

A new tool is presented for facilitating greater objectivity in the chaotic field of genocide studies: first, assembling the available factual data about any event of mass murder systematically; second, contextualizing each of our judgments of the nature of the crime as a choice being made by a given scholar or institution (e.g., a specific court), but not as "God's word." The Worksheet for Describing and Categorizing a Genocidal Event is believed to be innovative in several ways: (1) This model presents researchers with a methodology for developing systematic, extensive and objective information about many different aspects of an event of mass killing; (2) Emphasis is placed on identifying each researcher's guiding concept of genocide; (3) The proposed methodology purposely postpones any effort at classification-including whether an event constitutes "genocide"-until after factual data have been assembled; (4) Categorization of an event is also to be understood as an act of judgment by each researcher, not as scientifically established truth; (5) It is also to be understood that classification in the language of social sciences is different than legal classifications that in turn also are to be understood as based on whatever specific code of law.
