This paper turns Post-Foucauldian discourse linguistics upside down to explore the situatedness of discourses as their material possibility condition. In order to do so I firstly clarify Foucault’s notion of discourse oscillating between the poles of macro (knowledge order) and micro (material event). In a second step recent media discourse analysis is discussed as an attempt to understand “la matérialité de l’énoncé” (Foucault 1969: 135) as a possibility condition of discourses. In a third step I propose an approach that conceptualizes the possibility conditions of communicational acting systematically between media technologies and communicative genres. The media linguistic notion of Forms of Communication (cf. Domke 2010a; Holly 2011a; Meiler 2013a) promisingly conceptualizes these conditions as enabling communication, hence discourse in situ. Following this, in a fourth step three generic examples are analyzed from the related position of semiological pragmatics (cf. Jäger 2008; Rehbein 2001). By these three examples (taken from a corpus of communication in public space) the paper demonstrates how different Forms of Communication shape specific possibilities to communicate different types of discursive knowledge (and vice versa): verified, temporarily relevant, and contested knowledge. It is also worked out in which way the production conditions of each Form of Communication determine how accessible a discourse is. In this respect, public space and mass media appear to be remarkably opposed to one another.

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar elementos para uma descrição semântica dos verbos modais do português no âmbito de uma teoria de ação capaz de captar até nuances de verbos quase sinônimos e evidenciando sua função discursiva, i.e. designar objetivosacionais (p.ex. querer, desejar, pretender, ir), para caracterizar alternativas acionais elegíveis (p.ex. poder, saber, ser capaz de), para ponderar alternativas acionais (p.ex.dever, ter de, ter que, precisar, convir, urgir) ou avaliá-las (p.ex. valer, importar) ou, nouso epistêmico, para marcar inferências ou especificar a categoria da fonte dainformação. Mostrar-se-á no exemplo do uso de verbos modais em manchetes de jornale textos argumentativos que os verbos modais - devido à sua semântica abstrata -implicam um maior envolvimento mental do ouvinte/ leitor e são assim um meiolingüístico para criar interesse em ler o artigo em questão, ou no caso de textos argumentativos, para argumentar de maneira nuançada, sem que o autor apareça explicitamente no texto como instância de avaliação, mas permitindo envolver o leitor mentalmente no raciocínio do autor.

The article considers the business microblog as a new business communication register and studies its structural and semantic properties. The relevance of the work is determined by the fact that at present the microblog register in the context of business communication and its semantic structure are not fully studied. The authors aim to find out what pragmatic, structural and semantic features are peculiar to business messages in social network Twitter. Using the methods of discourse analysis, semantic and linguosynergetic analysis, we identified such structural properties of business microblogs as hypertextuality, interactivity, spontaneity, business context, dialogism, situationality and expressiveness. Semantic properties include most frequent pragma-semantic relations between propositions in microblogs (explanation, expansion, causation, pragmatic commentary). The language material shows that the genre of business microblogging is the result of mixing and contamination of oral and written registers of business discourse, as well as the emergence of new technical means of communication. A linguosynergetic analysis of propositions showed that the semantic structure is determined by the communicative intention of the addressee and, due to the small volume of messages, is based on two or three propositions connected by certain logical relationships. Further research on this topic can be carried out in the field of studying other genres and the influence of addressee factor in online communication.

In diesem Beitrag wird anhand von authentischen Daten aus einer Mathematik-Übung exemplarisch gezeigt, welche sprachlichen Verfahren eingesetzt werden, um in einer mathematischen Übung in der Hochschule mathematisches Problemlösungswissen zu vermitteln. Ziel ist, so sprachliche Anforderungen zu rekonstruieren, mit denen Studierende der Mathematik, insbesondere mit einer anderen Muttersprache als Deutsch, in der Anfangsphase des Studiums konfrontiert sind.
