Floor Art

The purpose of this research is to study the symbols of Chittara and to call the attention required in preserving the dying folk art with the help of its contextual relevance to the society as structured by the Deewaru community folks. The researcher proceeded in meeting the experts for an interview due to the unavailability of rich literature and the absence of an in-depth relevant study of the symbols. Though there’s a book based on Deewaru Community, only selected symbols have been studied at a superficial level and some unpublished notes which deconstructs the meaning, some of them has not gone beyond what the symbols mean and how it conveys a message over time for the generations that existed, that exists at the moment and the ones to come. Meeting the experts was quite challenging due to certain barriers in the language protocol and reluctant attitude towards the researcher based on their previous experiences. During the interview, the researcher analyzed every symbol carefully and tried his best to delve deeper into the meaning hid behind each of it and has inferred certain contextual relevance of the symbols accordingly. This research is aimed to throw light of the dying folk art and help the art get its pulse back.

Da tempo Davide Turrini dedica un'attenzione critica specifica, testimoniata da numerose pubblicazioni, all'architettura di Manuel e Francisco Aires Mateus. In questo articolo, contenuto in un numero monografico della rivista Costruire in Laterizio sull'architettura d'interni, analizza e inquadra criticamente la recente realizzazione di Casa No Tempo, peculiare per il pavimento totalizzante in elementi di cotto non stuccati. Anche i pavimenti in laterizio sono un tema costante della ricerca dell'autore.

Primo volume sulle pavimentazioni in cotto dall’antico al contemporaneo. La struttura tematica dell’opera è ripartita in sequenze cronologiche seguendo l’orizzonte temporale della lunga durata: Antico, Età moderna Rinascenza, Contemporaneo. Ogni sezione cronologica è anticipata da un saggio introduttivo con ruolo di inquadramento critico a cui seguono realizzazioni significative inscritte cronologicamente nella sezione di riferimento. Conclude l’opera un’ampia e sistematica bibliografia sull’argomento. Il volume è stato editato in occasione della Mostra Rosso Italiano organizzata presso il Museo dinamico del laterizio e delle terrecotte di Marsciano nel 2006.
