3D design and 3D contents are becoming ever so popular in today's technology. The whole world is moving towards the 3D content platform, 3D printers, 3D TV sets, 3D mobiles etc. no exception to that is the web and all things in it. AquaFlux and Epsilon are two of our state of the art skin measurement instruments. Originally developed by our research group as research projects, AquaFlux and Epsilon have now been commercialised and used in more than 70 organisations worldwi de. However, due to the nature of the technologies, they often require on-site intensive training, which is expensive and time-consuming. There is a genuine need for an interactive virtual training environment that users can be trained whenever and wherever they want. This pa per demonstrates the development of a web-based interactive 3D virtual environment for these two skin measurement instruments to serve this demand. The new system contains detailed virtual user manuals, step by step interactive instructions that will direct the users on how to use these two skin measurement devices. The virtual environment will benefit users by giving users a very realistic feel about how these instruments work. VR (Virtual Reality) is an essential technology that will deliver to users the experience and knowledge in this regard.

In today's technology, 3D presentation is vital in conveying a realist and comprehensive understanding of a specific notion or demonstrating certain functionality for a specific device or tool, especially on the World Wide Web. Therefore, the importance of this field and how its continuous enhancement has become one of the dominant topics in web development research. Virtual Reality (VR) combined with the use of a 3D scene and 3D content is one of the best delivering mechanisms of this realist ambience to users. AquaFlux and Epsilon are clinical instruments that were built, designed, and developed at London South Bank University as research projects for medical and cosmetic purposes. Currently, They have been marketed and used in almost 200 institutions internationally. Nevertheless, considering the type of these tools, they often involve on-site thorough training, which is costly and time-consuming. There is a real necessity for a system or an application where the features and functionalities of these two instruments can be illustrated and comprehensively explained to clients or users. Virtual User Manual (VUM) environment would serve this purpose efficiently, especially if it is introduced in 3D content. The newly created system consists of a detailed virtual guide that will assist users and direct them on how to use these two devices step-by-step. Presenting this work in a VR immersed environment will benefit clients, user and trainees to fully understand all the features and characteristics of AquaFlux and Epsilon and to master all their functionalities.

This paper presents a methodology for solving the hydrothermal dispatch problem when environmental impact is considered. The solution is obtained through a high order interior point model for optimization which considers power flow (DC Model) constraints, reservoir and generation limits and also emission reduction. The goal is to minimize both emissions and costs, which becomes a multiobjective problem considering that both objectives are in conflict. To face this fact, a weighted sum method is used in order to obtain a Pareto optimal set of solutions so they can be analyzed by a decision maker. A 6-bus test system with two hydroelectric plants and two thermal plants is used to show the obtained results.

A partir del desarrollo de metodologias de evaluacion se pretende estimar las causas por las cuales el botadero Mondonedo no tuvo gran efectividad en su fase de operacion. Esto nace de la necesidad de emplazar un espacio adyacente a los centros poblados para la disposicion final de residuos solidos, que se remedio con este lugar donde desde mediados de 1976 inicio labores de recepcion de desechos. La disposicion antitecnica de residuos solidos en el area implica una afectacion ambiental y sanitaria, representada en impactos adversos sobre el suelo, el agua, el paisaje y la comunidad. Para 2005 la autoridad ambiental anuncio el cierre definitivo del botadero por no cumplir las medidas sanitarias basicas y enfatizo en la clausura tecnica y ambiental, con el animo de favorecer el saneamiento ambiental. El presente estudio presenta el analisis de ciclo de vida (ACV) para la cadena de produccion de bioetanol como combustible (E100) en Colombia, utilizando como herramienta el software de uso libre OpenLCA. Para la elaboracion del inventario de emisiones se emplearon datos de referencias bibliograficas e inventarios de emisiones de la base de datos Ecoinvent v2.2. Se cuantifico el potencial de calentamiento globlal (PCG) por medio de la metodologia de impacto IPCC2007, y la demanda de energia no renovable por medio del metodo de demanda acumulada de energia (DAE). La actividad que presenta mayor aporte al PCG es la produccion de fertilizantes y la liberacion de estos al aire durante su aplicacion en el terreno. Para la DAE el proceso con mayor demanda corresponde a la preparacion del terreno y la produccion de fertilizantes.
