Pertuzumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the extracellular dimerization domain (subdomain II) of HER2. Based on the positive opinion from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on March 4, 2013, a marketing authorization valid throughout the European Union (EU) was issued for pertuzumab (Perjeta) for use in combination with trastuzumab and docetaxel for the treatment of adult patients with HER2-positive metastatic or locally recurrent unresectable breast cancer who have not received previous anti-HER2 therapy or chemotherapy for their metastatic disease. Darkness Weddings : Votive Images of Post-Mortem Marriages in Japan

Dans la région de Yamagata, huit temples organisent des « mariages des ténèbres » (meikon, 冥婚). Une coutume veut que les familles ayant perdu un enfant (fille ou garçon) le marient post-mortem s'il est mort célibataire. Cette coutume dont l’existence n’est attestée, de façon mystérieuse, que dans une minuscule circonscription du nord du Japon date probablement de la fin du xixe siècle. Elle prend la forme d'images votives – dessins ou collages représentant le-la défunt-e en compagnie d'un-e époux-se imaginaire. Appelées mukasari ema (ムカサリ絵馬), ces images sont déposées au temple lors d’une cérémonie de commémoration effectuée dans le bâtiment consacré aux prières pour les morts. Elle permet à la famille d’un-e mort-e de lui « offrir » un-e partenaire dans l’autre monde. Ces images sont réalisées par les proches du mort quand la famille est pauvre, mais si elle en a les moyens il arrive qu'elle fasse appel à une artiste pour dessiner le mukasari ema, suivant un procédé proche de la nécromancie. Ma recherche s’appuie d’une part sur la recension et l’analyse iconographique des mukasari ema du temple Jakushô. D’autre part sur un entretien semi-dirigé de type biographique avec une artiste spécialisée dans ces images : une onna-kama, médium chargée de demander à la personne défunte quel genre de conjoint lui apporterait le bonheur. In Yamagata prefecture, eight temples celebrate “darkness weddings” (meikon, 冥婚). Parents of a son or daughter who died unmarried provide him/her with a spouse or husband by offering a mukasari ema (ムカサリ絵馬), a votive image depicting a wedding ceremony or marital bliss scene. For reasons yet to be fully understood, this practice is limited to a remote part of a district of northeastern Japan and became popular by the end of xixth century. It consists in drawing the deceased one in wedding regalia and, often, in the company of a ficticious partner. These images are presented to temples following a funeral as a votive offering and placed in the prayer hall as an expression of mourning. Such ema can be home-made, but the parents can afford it, they commission a mukasari ema artist to do the drawing or painting. In july 2012, I met one of these rare artists. She introduced herself as a onna-kama, a woman with the ability to communicate with the dead souls. Her informations about the manufacturing process of a mukasari ema – very close to necromantic technics – led me to wonder how the livings relate to the deads in Yamagata.

The paper focuses on the algorithms of the event detection in content-based video retrieval. Video has a complex structure and can express the same idea in different ways. This makes the task of searching for video more complicated. Video titles and text descriptions cannot give the whole information about objects and events in the video. This creates a need for content-based video retrieval. There is a semantic gap between low-level video features, that can be extracted, and the users’ perception. The task of event detection is reduced to the task of video segmentation. Complex content-based video retrieval can be regarded as the bridge between traditional retrieval and semantic-based video retrieval. The properties of video as a time series are described. Introduced the concept of anomalies in the video. A method for event detection based on comparing moving averages with windows of different sizes is proposed. According to the classification given at the beginning of this article, our method refers to statistical methods. It differs from other methods with low computational complexity and simplicity. The video stream processing language is proposed for function-based description of video handling algorithms. So, our method is formulated in the form of a declarative description on an interpreted programming language. Unfortunately, most of the existing video processing methods use exclusively imperative approach, which often makes understanding more difficult. Examples of the use of this language are given. Its grammar is described too. As shown by experiments, the implementation of the proposed video events retrieval method, unlike their counterparts, can work for video streams too with a real-time and potentially infinite frame sequences. Such advantages within low computational requirements make implementation of the method helpful in aviation and space technology. The algorithm has some disadvantages due to necessity parameter selection for particular task classes. The theorem on near-duplicates of video is formulated at the end of the article. It asserts the near-duplicate videos express the same sequence of phenomena.

Entre los objetos talismánicos más abundantes y coloridos de Japón se encuentran los ema –retratos votivos– localizables en los santuarios sintoístas y en los templos budistas de todas las regiones del país. Al igual que los objetos materiales homólogos de otras partes del mundo, la mayoría de los estudiosos coinciden en que los ema constituyen un modo de expresión popular que raramente aborda el tema de la muerte. Sin embargo, en el año 2001, fue redescubierta una tipología que sí lo hace. Designada como kuyô egaku (“marco de luto”), esta forma de ema, predominante en su día en un rincón remoto del noreste de Japón, desafía las nociones populares de la nación en torno al patrimonio espiritual relativo a la muerte, el más allá, y la conexión de los vivos con ambos.

The article describes the structure and functionality of the articulographic database for storing data from articulographic research using an electromagnetic articulograph, an acoustic camera and 3 video cameras. The database enables selective extraction of various types of data for scientific research and interoperates with programs that carry out experiments. Structure and construction of the database is described. Potential future application in statistical analysis and experiments on speech inversion using dynamic Bayesian networks (DBN) was also presented. (article in Polish)

"Objective: Understanding the psychological processes that contribute to smoking reduction will yield population health benefits. Negative mood may moderate smoking lapse during cessation but this relationship has been difficult to measure in ongoing daily experience. We used a novel form of ecological momentary assessment to test a self-control model of negative mood and craving leading to smoking lapse.

Design: We validated short message service (SMS) text as a user-friendly and low-cost option for ecologically measuring real-time health behaviors. We sent text messages to cigarette smokers attempting to quit eight times daily for the first twenty-one days of cessation (N- obs=3,811).

Main outcome measures: Approximately every 2 hours, we assessed cigarette count, mood, and cravings, and examined between- and within-day patterns and time-lagged relationships among these variables. Exhaled carbon monoxide was assessed pre- and post-treatment.

Results: Negative mood and craving predicted smoking two hours later, but craving mediated the mood-smoking relationship. Also, this mediation relationship predicted smoking over the next two, but not four, hours.

Conclusion: Results clarify conflicting previous findings on the relation between affect and smoking, validate a new low-cost and user-friendly method for collecting fine-grained health behavior assessments, and emphasize the importance of rapid, real-time measurement of smoking moderators."

The objective of this work is to select an energy efficient channel access method (EMA) to maximize the energy efficiency of the system. The multiple access methods considered are time division multiple access (TDMA) and space division multiple access (SDMA). The project work is to stimulate the multiple input multiple output – orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO – OFDM) network and for each sub-band chose either TDMA or SDMA using proposed algorithms.

El propósito de este trabajo es reconstruir las conexiones tecnológicas más significativas entre los talleres de maquinado (TM) y las empresas maquilado ras de autopartes (EMA) localizadas en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Se construyen una teoría y una taxonomía, y se vinculan con un estudio de caso.
