EDAS method

In order to solve a number of real decision-making problems, over time, a number of multiple criteria decision-making methods have been proposed. The EDAS method is one of the newly proposed methods; its computational procedure can be identified as innovative and also based on verified approaches. An extension of the EDAS method adapted for the use of grey numbers is considered in this paper.

Evaluation based on Distance from Average Solution (EDAS) is a new multicriteria decision making (MCDM) method, which is based on the distances of alternatives from the average scores of attributes. Classical EDAS has been already extended by using ordinary fuzzy sets in case of vague and incomplete data. In this paper, we propose an interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy EDAS method, which is based on the data belonging to membership, nonmembership, and hesitance degrees. A sensitivity analysis is also given to show how robust decisions are obtained through the proposed intuitionistic fuzzy EDAS. The proposed intuitionistic fuzzy EDAS method is applied to the evaluation of solid waste disposal site selection alternatives. The comparative and sensitivity analyses are also included.

Selection of appropriate subcontractors for outsourcing is very important for the success of construction projects. This can improve the overall quality of projects and promote the qualification and reputation of the main contractors. The evaluation of subcontractors can be made by some experts or decision-makers with respect to some criteria. If this process is done in different time periods, it can be defined as a dynamic multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) problem. In this study, we propose a new fuzzy dynamic MCGDM approach based on the EDAS (Evaluation based on Distance from Average Solution) method for subcontractor evaluation. In the procedure of the proposed approach, the sets of alternatives, criteria and decision-makers can be changed at different time periods. Also, the proposed approach gives more weight to newer decision information for aggregating the overall performance of alternatives. A numerical example is used to illustrate the proposed approach and show the application of it in subcontractor evaluation. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach is efficient and useful in real-world decision-making problems.

Spor endüstrisi, spor kulüpleri, taraftarlar, sporseverler, yayıncı kuruluşlar, finansal yatırımcılar gibi paydaşların yer aldığı küresel ölçekli bir yapıya sahiptir. Bununla birlikte spor, sosyal açıdan kişisel ve toplumsal konumunu korumaya da devam etmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada, Türkiye'de öne çıkan dört spor kulübünün finansal, sportif ve sosyal açılardan performanslarının incelenmesi ve sıralanması amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca çalışmada, karar problemlerinin çözümünde kullanımı gittikçe artan bütünleşik/hibrit modellere yönelik farklı toplulaştırma tekniklerine yer verilmiştir. Spor kulüplerinin performansları açısından sıralanması için bütünleşik karar modeli oluşturulmuştur. Bu modelde, kriterlerin ağırlıklarının belirlenmesi için İkili Karşılaştırma Ağırlıklandırma Tekniği'nden yararlanılmıştır. Ağırlıklandırma işlemi sonucunda, finansal kriterlerden aktif kârlılık, sportif kriterlerden futbolda kazanılan kupa sayısı ve sosyal kriterlerden stadyum doluluğu, ana kriter gruplarında ilk sıraları almıştır. Karar probleminin çözümü için çok kriterli karar verme tekniklerinden SAW, TODIM, EDAS, VIKOR, QUALIFLEX ve MAPPAC kullanılmıştır. Söz konusu çözümlerin toplulaştırılmasında ise Borda, Copeland, Nanson, Ortalama, Cook ve Seiford, Kemeny toplulaştırma tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bütünleşik sıralamalarda, finansal performans açısından Beşiktaş ilk sırada bulunurken; sportif, sosyal ve genel performans sıralamalarında Galatasaray ilk sırada yer almıştır. Sonuç olarak spor kulüplerinin sürdürülebilir başarılar elde etmesi için finansal yapılarını düzeltmeleri, sosyal sorumluluk açısından ise toplumun geneliyle etkileşim içinde olmaları ve futbol dışında kalan takım sporları ve bireysel sporlara olanaklar yaratmaları gerekmektedir. Abstract The sports industry has a global scale that includes stakeholders such as sports clubs, fans, sports lovers, broadcasters, and financial investors. Besides, sports continue to maintain their socially personal and community position. In this study, financial, sportive, social, and general performances of four of the leading sports club in Turkey were examined and ranked in this regard. Also, different aggregation techniques for integrated / hybrid models, which are increasingly used in the solution of decision problems, were included in the study. An integrated decision model has been created to rank sports clubs in terms of performance. In this model, the Pairwise Comparison Weighting Technique was used to determine the weight of the criteria. As a result of the weighting process, return on assets ratio from financial criteria, the number of trophies won in football from sportive criteria, and the stadium occupancy from social criteria took the first place in the main criteria groups. SAW, TODIM, EDAS, VIKOR, QUALIFLEX, and MAPPAC, which are MCDM techniques, were used to solve the decision problem. Borda, Copeland, Nanson, Average, Cook and Seiford, Kemeny, aggregation techniques, were used to integrate these solutions. While Beşiktaş ranks first in terms of financial performance in integrated rankings, Galatasaray ranks first in sports, social, and general performance rankings. As a result, to achieve sustainable success, sports clubs need to improve their financial structure, in terms of social responsibility, they must interact with the general public and create opportunities for non-football team sports and individual sports. * Sorumlu yazar, Arş. Özet e-Devlet uygulamalarının uzantısı olan Elektronik Belge Yönetim Sistemi (EBYS) ile belgelerin elektronik olarak arşivlenmesi sağlanmış ve böylece kamu kurumlarının daha izlenebilir ve denetlenebilir olması amaçlanmıştır. Kamu kurumları tarafından dışarıdan temin yoluyla sağlanan EBYS yazılımlarının TSE 13298 no.lu standarda uygun olması gerekmektedir. Yapılan alan araştırmasında, kuruma en uygun yazılımın seçiminde, kamu kurumlarının zorluk yaşadıkları görülmüştür. Uygulama çalışması, bir ilçe belediyesinde EBYS yazılımı seçimi için yapılmıştır. Çalışmada SWARA yöntemiyle kriter ağırlıkları belirlenmiş, alternatif EBYS yazılımlarının değerlendirilmesi ise çok kriterli karar verme yöntemlerinden EDAS yöntemiyle yapılmıştır. Sıralamada en iyi değere sahip EBYS yazılımı belediyeye önerilmiştir. Abstract It is enabled to archive the documents electronically with the Electronic Document Management System, an extension of e-government applications, and thus it is aimed to make public enterprises more tractable and controllable. EDMS software outsourced by public institutions are required to comply with the standard numbered TSE 13298. The field research show that it is difficult for public enterprises to choose the most appropriate software. Application of this study has been done to the selection EDMS software in a district municipality. In the study, criteria weights are determined by SWARA and the evaluation of alternative EDMS software is made by EDAS which is a multi-criteria decision-making method. EDMS software with the best value in the ranking was proposed to the municipality.

Günümüzde sağlıklı yaşam, sağlıklı beslenme konularında insanların bilinçlenmesi ile birlikte, spor faaliyetlerine daha fazla vakit ayrılmaya başlanmış bu durum, spor faaliyetlerinin gerçekleştirebileceği fitness merkezlerine olan taleplerin de artmasına yol açmıştır. Bu yoğun talep ile birlikte, birçok şehir merkezinde büyük yatırımlar yapılarak fitness merkezleri açılmış ancak, yoğun rekabet nedeniyle çok sayıda fitness merkezinin ekonomik anlamda zorlu süreçlere girdikleri gözlenmiştir. Fitness merkezlerinin sürekliliği için, mevcut müşterinin elde tutulması, yeni müşterilerin kazanılması önemlidir. Bu çalışmada amaç, çok sayıda karar vericiden (KV) alınan bilgiler ile fitness merkezlerinin değerlendirilmesinde etkili olan kriterlere bağlı ağırlıkların çok kriterli karar verme (ÇKKV) yöntemlerinden SWARA yöntemi ile belirlenmesi elde edilen kriter ağırlıklarının sürece dahil edilerek fitness merkezlerinin ÇKKV yöntemlerinden EDAS yöntemi ile değerlendirilmesidir. Uygulama çalışmasında, Aydın`ın Nazilli ilçesinde en fazla müşteriye sahip 3 farklı fitness merkezinden rastgele seçilen toplam 15 müşteri KV olarak alınmıştır. SWARA yönteminin uygulama aşamaları dikkate alınarak 15 KV’ye anket uygulanmış ve elde edilen veriler SWARA yönteminde değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın değerlendirme kısmında, Nazilli’de müşteri yoğunluğu fazla olan altı fitness merkezi alternatif olarak alınmıştır. Tüm bu fitness merkezlerini tanıyan beş KV (kriterleri değerlendiren KV’lerden farklı) ile yapılan anket sonucunda elde edilen grup karar matrisinin ÇKKV yöntemlerinden EDAS yöntemine göre yapılan değerlendirmesi sonucunda, ilçedeki en yüksek puana sahip fitness merkezi belirlenmiştir.

Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are very useful in the real-world decision-making problems. We are usually confronted with the decision-making process in an uncertain environment, and the fuzzy set theory is an efficient tool to handle this uncertainty. Interval type-2 fuzzy sets are one of the extensions of the fuzzy sets which are very flexible to model an uncertain environment. This study is related to MCDM problems within the context of interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2FSs). The evaluation based on distance from average solution (EDAS) method is a new and efficient MCDM method, and assessment of alternatives in this method is based on the distance of them from average solution with respect to all criteria. In the EDAS method, each alternative has positive and negative distances which are used to determine the appraisal score of it. In this research, we present an extended EDAS method, which is named EDAS-IT2FSs, for dealing with multicriteria group decision-making problems with interval type-2 fuzzy sets. Basic concepts of interval type-2 fuzzy sets and the arithmetic operations of trapezoidal IT2FSs are used to develop the extended EDAS method. A numerical example of multi-criteria subcontractor evaluation problem is used to illustrate the process of using the extended EDAS method. The example involves eight subcontractors that need to be evaluated with respect to seven criteria. A comparison and a sensitivity analysis based on different sets of criteria weights are also performed to show the validity of the proposed method. The results of these analyses show the efficiency and stability of the extended EDAS method.

The aim of this study is to determine and evaluate the destination competitiveness of the selected Mediterranean destinations with the entropy-based EDAS method.), which are among the top 50 countries attracting the highest number of international tourists, were examined by EDAS method and their competitiveness was revealed. According to the results of the research, the three most important criteria for the competitiveness of the Mediterranean destinations are prioritization of travel & tourism, business environment, and human resources and labour market while the top three competitive countries are France, Spain and Italy, respectively.

Nonlinear weirs are among the hydraulic structures that, despite their great importance and application, so far, no general method for estimating their discharge capacity has been accomplished. Laboratory or numerical modelling is commonly used to achieve nonlinear weir discharge capacity. It should be noted that employing the design equation from one geometric family of nonlinear weirs to another is impractical. The utilization of numerical or laboratory models in the preliminary stages of the design of these structures is a time and cost-consuming process, which is highlighted by the variety of nonlinear weir geometry. In this research, a general method for estimating the nonlinear weirs discharge capacity is presented. The proposed method analyzes nonlinear weir discharge capacity using energy and discharge equations for discretized solution fields. Furthermore, the local submergence in nonlinear weirs, which has a tangible effect on their discharge capacity, has been corrected. Results of laboratory models performed on the oblique weir, arced labyrinth weir, and Isabella dam weir have been used to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method. The proposed method with high correlation and accuracy has estimated the discharge capacity of these weirs. The maximum error observed was 12 percent for the oblique weir,15 percent for the arced labyrinth weir, and 15 percent for the Isabella Dam weir.
