D. Vélez Sarsfield

.This contribution  points out that Roman law served as a fundamental
source for legislating on the acquisition of real rights in Argentina
during the 19th century. From the distinctive features of the study and teaching of Roman law in the Latin American context, this analysis investigates the role of Argentinian Dalmasio Vélez Sarsfield, who was the author of the Argentinian civil code. Cacciavillani underlines how Roman law was not only received but also interpreted, selected and adapted for the regulation of land registration, which distanced itself from the consensualist system of property transfer
