Overweightness and obesity rates have increased dramatically over the past few decades and they represent a health epidemic in the United States (US). Unhealthy dietary habits are among the factors that can have adverse effects on weight status in young adulthood. The purpose of this explorative study was to use a qualitative research design to analyze the factors (barriers and enablers) that US college students perceived as influencing healthy eating behaviors. A group of Cornell University students (n = 35) participated in six semi-structured focus groups. A qualitative software, CAQDAS Nvivo11 Plus, was used to create codes that categorized the group discussions while using an Ecological Model. Fashion unfolds in places, produced by moments of friction between local and global worlds. Broadly, this article examines how social and political movements affected fashions worn by students on the Cornell University campus during different eras, from 1865-2015. More specifically, I focus on the challenges and productive possibilities of representing local fashion change through retrospective costume exhibition, and how pedagogy, historical research, and curatorial design may be combined to show intersections between fashion change, identities, place, and cultural sentiments. Ezra Cornell, co-founder of Cornell University, aspired to 'found an institution where any person could find instruction in any study.'  Cornell continues to embrace the 'any person, any study' mantra. The diverse areas of study, alongside educational opportunities provided to women and people of colour in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, has made Cornell a unique place within the Ivy League. The campus is a coming-together-place for a diverse group of young people who study in a physically isolated, yet globally connected place. In order to represent Cornell-specific fashions through exhibition design, I worked with a team of undergraduate and graduate students to examine primary sources in university and local archives, material culture in the Cornell Costume and Textile Collection, and oral interviews with current students and alumni as far back as the class of 1938. Combining archival and ethnographic methods enabled a dynamic costume exhibition chronicling fashions across the eras.

Tracks and trackways of a range of Pleistocene megafauna can be found in White Sands National Monument, New Mexico, U.S.A. These tracks occur is several forms, not all of which are visible and some of which are only intermittently visible depending on lighting and moisture conditions. Here we present the result of a successful test of cesium vapor magnetometry to detect a known Columbian mammoth trackway. This initial test found that not only the known mammoth tracks were easily detected by the method, but that the tracks of additional species, though not visible to the eye, were detected in the vicinity of the mammoth tracks, including likely giant sloth tracks. Our initial results indicate that resolution may be suitable to distinguish between the tracks of various species, including possibly humans which are known archaeologically to have overlapped temporally with these species in the southwestern U.S. This preliminary result has immediate implications for the detection and documentation of Pleistocene track sites, and further refinement of the procedure is planned in the coming months.

In the U.S., an estimated 26 million people -- about 13 percent of the population -- now have chronic kidney disease.
• There are currently about 125,00 people waiting for lifesaving organ transplants in the U.S. Of these, over 100,000 await kidney transplants. Transplantation is superior to long-term dialysis.
• Well-matched live donor kidneys typically last twice as long (ten versus twenty years) compared to transplants from cadaver kidneys.
• The median wait time for an individual’s first kidney transplant is 3.6 years and can vary depending on health, compatibility and availability of organs.
• In 2014, about 17,000 about kidney transplants took place in the US. Of these, 12,000 came from deceased donors and about 5,000 came from living donors.
I'm one of the very lucky ones. I had no suitable relative, but I received a live kidney, donated by an anonymous altruistic donor and facilitated through Renewal, a not-for-profit that matches donors with recipients and encourages altruistic donations.
Kidney transplantation is life-saving. We all have two kidneys. We only need one. God gave each of us a spare. Anyone who is healthy is urged to consider giving the gift of life to someone who desperately needs a kidney.

"The Selected Letters" is indispensable as a resource for an understanding of the intellectual culture of the mid-twentieth century. A Classics don, poet, playwright and globetrotting BBC producer, the medley and blend of MacNeice's cultural influences seems exemplary in its modernity. He kept up a significant correspondence with E. R. Dodds, Anthony Blunt and T. S. Eliot, to name but three prominent figures of the time. During his time at the BBC MacNeice witnessed many key events, including the partition of India in 1947 and the independence of the Gold Coast from Britain in 1957, and these are recorded in two long sequences to his wife, the singer Hedli Anderson. His complex relationship to Ireland and to his Irish heritages speak reson...
