Prezentowany artykuł był publikowany w 1988 roku w ambitnym czasopiśmie literackim dla dzieci w wieku o 7 do 10 lat nazwanym "Króliczek" wydawanym przez Drukarnię Narodową w Krakowie. Autor w tym czasopiśmie publikował różne artykuły popularyzujące wiedzę naukową i techniczną. Prezentowany tu tekst jest pierwszym z serii czterech artykułów namawiających dzieci do tego, żeby zainteresowały się nie tylko grami komputerowymi, ale także programowaniem komputera za pomocą języka LOGO. Komputery pod koniec lat 80. XX wieku były już obecne w wielu domach, ale ich wykorzystywanie pozostawiało wiele do życzenia. Zwłaszcza dzieci używały je wyłącznie do gier, co nie sprzyjało ich rozwojowi intelektualnemu. Seria artykułów w „Króliczku” miała być zachętą do bardziej ambitnej zabawy związanej z samodzielnym programowaniem komputera.
Ten artykuł jest pierwszym ze wspomnianej serii, ale warto także zajrzeć do późniejszych artykułów – również udostępnionych w tym serwisie. Łącznie stanowią one popularny i dostosowany do dziecięcej psychiki wstęp do programowania komputerów.

ABSTRACT Motivation is a very important factor for successful instruction. This factor is especially relevant in collaborative learning contexts, where social interaction plays an important role. In this paper we present an evaluation of motivation in 139 students who were instructed under four pedagogical approaches: traditional lecture, collaborative learning, collaborative learning guided by CIF (an instructional framework for collaborative learning), and collaborative learning guided by CIF and supported by MoCAS (a collaborative learning tool). We considered the four dimensions of motivation according to self-determination theory. The statistical results show that, in global terms, students were more motivated by jointly using the collaborative instructional approach CIF and the MoCAS tool than by using a collaborative approach. Detailed analysis of the different kinds of motivation yields mixed results. Students who were instructed with CIF and especially those students instructed with CIF and MoCAS exhibited higher intrinsic motivation. Furthermore, students instructed with CIF and MoCAS were the most extrinsically motivated via identified regulation. With respect to extrinsic motivation via external regulation, students instructed in a traditional, individual way were more motivated than students instructed collaboratively. Finally, high levels of amotivation were also associated to instruction using CIF and MoCAS. In summary, our results suggest that CIF and MoCAS are associated with high levels of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, a finding that can aid in improving the learning processes, but they are also, unexpectedly, associated with amotivation, suggesting an overall increase in activation in the students who show mixed motivators.

In video coding, it is commonly accepted that the encoding parameters such as the quantization step-size have an influence on the perceived quality. It is also sometimes accepted that using given encoding parameters, the perceived quality does not change significantly according to the encoded source content. In this paper, we present the outcomes of two video subjective quality assessment experiments in the context of Scalable Video Coding. We encoded a large set of video sequences under a group of constant quality scenarios based on two spatially scalable layers. One first experiment explores of the relation between a wide range of quantization parameters for each layer and the perceived quality, while the second experiment uses a subset of the encoding scenarios on a large number of video sequences. The two experiments are aligned on a common scale using a set of shared processed video sequences, resulting in a database containing the subjective scores for 60 different sources combined with 20 SVC scenarios. We propose a detailed analysis of the experimental results of the two experiments, bringing a clear insight of the relation between the encoding parameters combination of the scalable layers and the perceived quality, as well as spreading light on the differences in terms of quality depending on the encoded source content. As an endeavour to analyse these differences, we propose a classification of the sources with regards to their relative behaviour when compared to the average of other source contents. We use this classification to identify potential factors to explain the differences between source contents.

Information extraction from high spatial resolution imagery is sometimes hampered by the limited number of spectral channels available from these systems. Standard supervised classification algorithms found in commercial software packages may misclassify different features with similar spectral characteristics; leading to a high occurrence of false positives. An additional step in the information extraction process was developed incorporating the concept of object geometry. Objects are defined as a contiguous group of pixels identified as belonging to a single class in the spectral classification. Using results from the spectral classification, a supervised approach was developed using genetic programming to select and mathematically combine feature-specific shape descriptors from a larger set of shape descriptors, to form a new classifier. This investigation focused on extraction of residential housing from QuickBird and IKONOS imagery of the Mississippi Gulf Coast before and immediately after hurricane Katrina. Use of genetic programming significantly reduced false positives caused by asphalt pavement and isolated roofing material scattered throughout the image.

INSERTING THE COURSE INTO THE PROGRAM

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Here is a slightly more exhaustive list of the objectives of this course:

 master a programming language (C ++),
 master a programming environment (C ++ Builder),
 become familiar with object-oriented programming,
 become familiar with the new concepts and tools provided in the Builder version of the C ++ language,
 learn to use pointers and pointed structures,
 develop the skills to algorithmically solve problems of moderate complexity,

Water tanks are water retaining structure, The important criteria of water tank should be such that it should be leak proof, long lasting and economical too. Economics of structure can be achieved through quantity of constituents of materials as concrete, and steel. For Optimization, paper deals with two different types of water tanks (1) Rectangular and (2) Circular. Selected water tanks were considered for the restrained base as a boundary condition. The selected water tanks were analyzed and designed by two well established methods 1, IS code method and 2, analytical method. The selected water tanks were designed for constant volume of 100 cu. m Mix M-30 with Fe – 415 and IS code 3370 part I, II, III, IV along with IS 456:2000 All the water tanks, mentioned above, were designed by working stress method only. A Computer program was developed to obtain an accuracy in results. The results thus obtained were compared and shown in a tabular form. From the observations, it was concluded that the circular water tanks designed by IS code method were economical as compared with all the other types of water tanks. Similarly, it was observed that saving in cost is proportional to decrease of height of water tank.

The project involves creating a chatbot to be used in healthcare treatment. The app uses Artificial Intelligence and can help in diagnosing various diseases and providing necessary details about the patient’s disease or illness.
