Augmented reality deals with the problem of dynamically augmenting or enhancing (images or live video of) the real world with computer generated data (e.g., graphics of virtual objects). This poses two major problems: (a) determining the precise alignment of real and virtual coordinate frames for overlay, and (b) capturing the 3D environment including camera and object motions. The latter is important for interactive augmented reality applications where users can interact with both real and virtual objects. Here we address the problem of accurately tracking the 3D motion of a monocular camera in a known 3D environment and dynamically estimating the 3D camera location. We utilize fully automated landmark-based camera calibration to initialize the motion estimation and employ extended Kalman filter techniques to track landmarks and to estimate the camera location. Object Intracranial aneurysms may grow closer to anterior optic pathways, causing mass effect over these anatomical structures, including visual deficit. The authors retrospectively reviewed a series of aneurysms in patients presenting with visual field deficit caused by mass effect, to analyze the aneurysm's characteristics, the neurosurgical management of these aneurysms, as well as their clinical, visual, and radiological outcomes. Methods The authors reviewed the medical charts, neuroimaging examination results, and surgical videos of 15 patients presenting with visual symptoms caused by an aneurysm's mass effect over the anterior optic pathways. Multicolor de los Sábados (1933-1934). In this illustrated
supplement of literature from the Argentine newspaper Crítica,
directed by the writers Jorge Luis Borges and Ulyses Petit de Murat,
the poetics of clipping – inclusion of fragments of texts from other
supports recontextualized along with other contents – oxygenated
literature and encouraged experimentation and manipulation.

El presente artículo analiza las estrategias de recorte y
escritura mediante las cuales un conjunto de textos tomados del
libro Os Sertões de Euclides da Cunha adquirieron el estatus de
relatos independientes en la Revista Multicolor de los Sábados
(1933-1934). En este suplemento ilustrado de literatura del
diario argentino Crítica, dirigido por los escritores Jorge Luis
Borges y Ulyses Petit de Murat, la poética del recorte – inclusión
de fragmentos de textos provenientes de otros soportes y la
recontextualización junto con otros contenidos – oxigenó la literatura
al mismo tiempo que fomentó la experimentación y la manipulación.

OBJECT Blister aneurysms of the supraclinoid part of the internal carotid artery (ICA) are known for their high morbidity and mortality rates related to treatment, regardless of whether the treatment is surgical or endovascular. However, this grim prognosis is based on results that indiscriminately group all blister aneurysms together without taking into account the heterogeneous appearance of these lesions. The goal of this study was 2-fold: to determine whether different blister aneurysm morphologies present different pitfalls, which would then require different surgical strategies, as well as to determine whether there are identifiable subgroups of these types of aneurysms based on morphology. ABSTRACT In the rendering process of radiosity scenes, the computed radiosity values have to be converted to color values that can be displayed on a CRT monitor. Usually radiosity calculations as well as various color calculations are performed in the RGB color space. Unfortunately the radiosity values can be outside a monitor gamut, which is a three-dimensional solid surrounding the set of all displayable colors for that device. The radiosity approach can be used either for rendering images with global illumination effects or for accurate physical simulation of light propagation. This paper introduces several techniques to transform radiosity values to monitor colors. These techniques use either clipping or compression, either scene dependent or independent algorithms and work either in the RGB, CIELUV or CIELAB color space. A simple, yet visually appealing, nonlinear color compression technique is introduced to generate smooth intensity gradients on a CRT monitor. O cenário tecnológico e científico na atualidade demonstra que há uma grande quantidade de informações sendo produzidas e disponibilizadas, tanto no meio físico, quanto no digital. Para que seja possível oferecer produtos e serviços que envolvam notícias publicadas nos mais diversos meios de comunicação, com interesses pré-estabelecidos em assuntos que atendam às demandas informacionais de uma organização, faz-se o uso do clipping. A biblioteca da Escola SENAI realiza esse serviço diariamente e esforça-se para atender às necessidades informacionais de seus funcionários por meio de temas relacionados à área industrial como um todo. Porém, ao analisar esse serviço do ponto de vista da área de disseminação e recuperação da informação, parece haver falhas no processo. Em uma aproximação preliminar junto ao objeto de estudo desta pesquisa entendeu-se que o alcance do público atendido pelo clipping seja restrito (não são atendidos os alunos da instituição) e que há o risco das notícias coletadas sejam perdidas, afinal não há ações seguras de armazenamento e de recuperação dos arquivos. Diante disto, propõem-se nesse trabalho estudar metodologias para a implantação de uma biblioteca digital de clipping de notícias, com acesso disponível via web Para tanto, analisou-se a forma que o clipping é feito atualmente; identificou-se falhas no processo; identificou-se possíveis perfis de interesse por parte dos usuários potenciais; demonstrou-se adequabilidade do Greenstone como software para gerenciamento das notícias clipadas; estudou-se padrões de representação de conteúdo que fossem compatíveis com o software. Recorrendo-se à abordagem qualitativa, com o auxílio da pesquisa bibliográfica e o mapeamento de processos como método, foi possível atingir o objetivo proposto. Após a obtenção dessas informações, e como resultado parcial da pesquisa, percebeu-se que os alunos da referida instituição também poderiam se tornar público-alvo do clipping; que as fontes de informação escolhidas para a coleta de reportagens poderiam abranger um número maior de portais de notícias online; que os assuntos abordados poderiam ser expandidos, de modo a serem inseridos perfis temáticos dos cursos ofertados; que o software Greenstone mostrou-se adequado para o gerenciamento do clipping por considerar aspectos de software livre e de acesso via web aos registros disponíveis; que o padrão de estrutura de metadados descritivos Dublin Core apresenta resultados satisfatórios para garantir o acesso aos documentos. Como resultado final da pesquisa pretende-se apresentar sugestão de melhoria no processo de clipagem de notícias à biblioteca da referida instituição, garantindo que todos os usuários sejam atendidos e possibilitando que as informações tenham garantia de armazenamento, representação, recuperação e acesso.

Thoracic sympathetic nervous system (SNS) surgery has increased in importance in recent years, generating great expectations among the general population and the scientific community. This has been due to the excellent results obtained by video-assisted thoracic sympathectomy in the treatment of essential hyperhidrosis and other thoracic SNS disorders.This minimally invasive surgical technique has been shown to be effective and to have low morbidity. It is accepted as one of the best therapeutic options for the treatment of palmar and bilateral axillary hyperhidrosis, and the number of patients interested in undergoing the procedure has increased considerably.Although compensatory sweating, which is occasionally intense, often occurs after the surgery, this and other side effects of the technique are well tolerated by patients.The current evidence on thoracic SNS and the treatment of essential hyperhidrosis is based on observational studies, making it difficult to compare series and draw conclusions. There has been much discussion on standardizing the technique, defining the most favorable levels for clipping, and choosing the type of denervation with the least amount of side effects. This has led to the need to draw up these guidelines which should clarify and standardize the criteria for managing patients with thoracic SNS disorders.La cirugía del sistema nervioso simpático torácico (SNST) ha experimentado un gran auge en los últimos años, generando gran expectación entre la población general y la comunidad científica. Esto se ha debido a los excelentes resultados que ha obtenido la simpatectomía torácica por videotoracoscopia en el tratamiento de la hiperhidrosis esencial y en otros trastornos del SNST.Esta técnica de cirugía mínimamente invasiva ha demostrado ser efectiva y con baja morbilidad, aceptada como una de las mejores opciones terapéuticas para el tratamiento de la hiperhidrosis palmar y axilar bilateral, viéndose incrementado de manera considerable el número de pacientes que consultan con intención de operarse.Aunque la sudoración compensadora, intensa en ocasiones, aparece con gran frecuencia tras la cirugía, éste y otros efectos secundarios de la técnica son bien tolerados por los pacientes.La evidencia actual respecto a la cirugía del SNST y del tratamiento de la hiperhidrosis esencial se basa en estudios observacionales, haciendo difícil comparar series y extraer Conclusiones Se ha discutido mucho para unificar la técnica, definir los niveles de sección más favorables y elegir el tipo de denervación con menos efectos secundarios. Este hecho crea la necesidad de elaborar esta normativa que clarifique y unifique criterios para el manejo de los pacientes con trastornos del SNST.
