The central idea of the present study is to re-establish the importance of human capital variables (education and experience) at all India level and also at the disaggregated level of gender (male/female) across regular and casual workers using NSS 68th round. This is the latest employment–unemployment unit-level records pertaining to year 2011–2012. The paper examines the impact of human capital variables, household factors, job-related factors, individual characteristics and locational factors on earnings of an individual. Separate augmented Mincerian equations have been used for regular and casual workers, further subdivided at the level of male and female. The method of quantile regression has been used to estimate the augmented Mincerian equation at the above-mentioned disaggregated levels. The present study showcases that human capital variables, household factors, job-related factors, individual characteristics and locational factors impact regular and casual workers differently, the variation being further pronounced when disaggregated at the level of gender. Interestingly, human capital variables impact the earnings of regular workers (male and female) and casual (male and female) workers positively. Factoring the growing informalisation (not being entitled to social security benefits) in the regular form of employment, the study showcases a wide disparity within the regular workers. Thus, an attempt has been made to unfold primarily the interplay between education and earnings at various disaggregated levels.

In many primary school classrooms, there exists a casual tyranny of control and separation that distorts the bodied humanity of schoolchildren. The intent of this article is to make more visible and so, more actionable, the school structures that devalue and oppress the spirited needs and desires of schoolchildren. This article is directed toward examining the nature of schooling as manifested in the day-to-day lives of children while looking askance at the under-challenged state of those school-lives. Relevant to every aspect of our lives, the potential conflict between rule-following and morally/humanly motivated disobedience is a major theme in this work, leading us to consider the spiritual aspects of childhood—such as wonder, joy, and being in the moment—and how they can be repressed, even denied, by the often arbitrary exercises of power and control inherent in schoolrooms. In this article, classroom-based narratives will rhizomatically meander and intersect with/in a diverse range of texts (including George Leonard’s discussion of the rogue, Hesse’s poetry, Batman Begins, and lyrics of Tupac Shakur) in ways that resist the structures of schooling that serve to assimilate us into a collective consciousness of docility.

Many groupware systems now allow people to converse and casually interact through their computers in quite rich ways—through text, images, video, artifact sharing and so on. If these interactions are logged, we can offer these multimedia histories to a person in a manner that makes them easy to review. This is potentially beneficial for group members wishing to find and reflect on their past interactions, and for researchers investigating the nuances of online communities. Yet because we have little knowledge of what people would actually do with these histories, designing an effective history review system is difficult. Consequently, we conducted a user study, where people explored real data from an online community. Our study identified a set of tasks that people would do if they could review these histories of casual interaction. Using a 2010 review of non-indigenous species (NIS) reported in the Mediterranean Sea as a baseline, this study undertakes a paramount revision of the non-indigenous species list in the region up to December 2021, re-evaluating the established, casual and failed introduction events of over 1366 taxa. In the light of new data and expert judgement, 14 species have been removed from the “established list” of the Mediterranean Sea inventory. The total number of validated NIS is close to 1000—751 established taxa and 242 casual taxa—while 23 species are considered as failed introduction. The rest are tagged as cryptogenic (58 taxa), questionable (70 taxa) or excluded (223 taxa). Mollusca have the highest diversity among established and casual NIS (230 taxa), followed by Pisces and Crustacea with 173 and 170 NIS respectively.
