CAD modeling

The use of turbochargers has increased in response to strengthened automotive exhaust emission and fuel consumption regulations for global environmental protection. Most centrifugal compressors are required to operate over a broad range of flow rates and to provide a high pressure ratio with high efficiency. The internal flow of a centrifugal compressor is very problematic with 3-dimensional and unsteady flow phenomena, and the analysis of flow phenomena and expansion of the operational range are difficult problems. Review is done for gathering the efficient method for designing and analyzing the centrifugal compressor. In order to meet these demands the application of variable geometry techniques is often considered and applied.

This aim of this work is to practice the conceptual and preliminary design phases for a rotorcraft that complies with a specific mission profile as a course project for the UUM527E Rotorcraft Design Course at the Istanbul Technical University. The rotorcraft in question is expected to hover for at least 24 hours which is a very demanding requirement in terms of fuel consumption, weight empty fraction and aerodynamic efficiency. The objective of this project simply pushes the limits of today’s technological boundaries in aerospace. Moreover, only a few rotorcrafts can handle such long endurance missions and most of them are still in development. Consequently, the design has to be innovative considering the possibilities of near future.

The earths inside temperature is commonly higher than the outside air temperature in winter and lower in summer so it can makes the use of the earth convenient as warm source or cold sink respectively. Earth air heat exchanger can contributes to reduce in energy consumption. Numbers of research have been carried out on Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis of EATHE systems and still it requires optimum redevelopment. In the present work a 3D CAD model was developed for CFD analysis of earth air tube heat exchanger (EATHE) system. The obtained simulated results were compared with experimental results obtained from experimental setup installed at Bhopal situated in Central India. The temperature of earth at a certain depth about 2 m to 3 m of ground remains nearly constant throughout the year this constant temperature is called the undisturbed temperature of earth. The performance evolution was carried out to check the effect of pipe length, air flow velocity, depth of buried pipe and pipe diameter of EATHE system for summer cooling. The result shows that this system is more convenient only for summer cooling and not suitable for winter heating.

Methodology for design of a thin-walled cylindrical thank with a flat bottom is presented in this paper. Except design, methodology for analytical, numerical and experimental analysis of stresses on the thank is also presented. After analytical calculations, geometrical modeling is carried out using CAD/CAM/CAE system CATIA. Distribution and values of principal strains and stresses are presented. Mathematical and numerical model is developed for linear elastic and isotropic material. In addition, introduction is given for theory of stresses for thin-walled thanks. For numerical structural analysis finite element method is used. Experimental stress analysis is carried out by tensometric measuring. Comparison of results from analytical, numerical and experimental analysis a predominantly good agreement with certain deviations can be found. Based on the comparison of the results obtained using analytical calculation, numerical method and experiment, a good match of the results can be observed. By comparing the results, the FEM model was verified.

People with physical-motor disabilities who make use of prosthetic devices, have the need for these prostheses to be designed to fulfill the tasks of their daily lives, regardless of the level of physical activity they maintain. This particular problem can be approached from the mechanical design of the prostheses, having as a critical stage, the validation of the components designed for its operation. Therefore, to improve the designs, a stage of determining the forces that the device must withstand is necessary. For this reason, a stage where all the forces af ecting the prosthesis are determined is necessary. For this work, simulations can be used in specialized programs and finite element analysis methods to detail the behavior of virtual models under specific conditions critical to the design. This document focuses on the approach of a computerized motion analysis to structure the preprocessing of a static finite element simulation, used in the design of a transtibial prosthesis for a Paralympic cyclist, and thus evidence the behavior of the proposed prosthesis model under the charges present during competition.
