moreThis paper discusses some ways in which the human body has been objectified under and through the use of power. The article explains different aspects and ways of objectification of the body and how it becomes an instrument. In relation to that, the material attempts to explain the hidden nature of human behavior which stems from the activation of two inner human instincts-the death drive, called Thanatos and the life drive called Eros. With reference to the two life drives in the Freudian drive theory, adding Nussbaum, Erikson, Fanon and Foucault, the work explains a connection between the main internal human instincts (in Freudian understanding) and external power is examined. Using some recent events (such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the world's lockdown and the Black Lives Matter movement) human behavior is seen as a result of activation of the inner drives (Eros and Thanatos) that respond to external changes. This interaction becomes the subject of the paper by being linked to psychosexual and psychosocial aspects of human development.
The article was inspired and it is dedication to the fight for toilet paper ( in direct and indirect meaning) during the first lockdown- an event that impressed with the strong revelation about human nature and the direction humanity was going at that time.
