"Elinizdeki bu kitap, sosyal psikolojinin konularını en geniş kapsamıyla ele almakta, klasikleşmiş deneysel ve saha araştırmalarını en güncel bilimsel çalışmalarla harmanlamaktadır. Bu bakımdan, akademisyen ve öğrencilerin yararlanabileceği eşsiz bir kaynaktır. Kitapta, sosyal psikoloji konuları bölüm bölüm ele alınmıştır; ilgili kavram, terim, kuram ve araştırmalar aktarılırken her bölüm kendi içinde bir bütünlük arz edecek şekilde akıcı bir öyküsel kurguyla ve dille yazılmıştır ayrıca bu kitap; tarihsel olaylarla, edebî ve felsefi metaforlarla zenginleştirilmiştir.
Ayrıca bu kapsamlı çalışma, sadece bilimsel bir disiplinin temel konularını okuyucuya aktarmakla kalmamakta, aynı zamanda savaş, açlık, çevre gibi gerçek dünya sorunlarının sosyal psikolojik boyutlarıyla ilgili çözüm önerileri de getirmektedir. Bu bakımdan elinizdeki kitap yalnızca bir ders kitabı değil, aynı zamanda sosyal psikolojiye ilgi duyan herkesin merakla okuyabileceği bir kitaptır."

Abstrak Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, klausa dan kalimat dalam lima puluh dua teks iklan layanan kesehatan masyarakat yang diambil tiga puluh tiga sebagai objek teliti. Data dihimpun dalam sebuah instrumen berupa tabel yang telah ditentukan klasifikasinya berdasarkan teori semiologi Barthes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa makna denotasi yang merupakan dasar pembentukan makna pada tahap sekunder makna berupa imbauan untuk menghindari narkoba, ajakan untuk penyelamatan terhadap narkoba, perintah untuk menghindari narkoba,dan pernyataan tentang bahaya narkoba. Makna konotasi yang berpijak pada makna denotasi terbentuk oleh penggunaan bahasa asosiasi yang menghasilkan makna berupa anjuran tidak langsung untuk menghindari HIV/AIDS, pilihan dalam menentukan tingkah laku, ajakan penyelamatan diri dari bahaya narkoba, dan perintah penyelamatan diri dari bahaya narkoba. Kata Kunci: iklan, narkoba, tingkah laku, bahaya. Abstract Research data in the form of words, phrases, clauses and sentences in fifty-two public health service advertising texts taken thirty-three as a careful object. Data collected in an instrument in the form of a table that has been determined by the classification of Barthes's semiological theory. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the meaning of denotation which is the basis for the formation of meaning at the secondary stage of meaning in the form of an appeal to avoid drugs, an invitation to rescue drugs, orders to avoid drugs, and statements about the dangers of drugs. The meaning of connotation that is based on the meaning of denotation is formed by the use of association language which produces meaning in the form of indirect recommendations to avoid HIV / AIDS, choices in determining behavior, invitation to save yourself from the dangers of drugs, and orders to save yourself from the dangers of drugs.

Основополагающими инструментами новой иконографии были выбраны портреты-типы протагонистов революции: рабочего и крестьянина. Социальному портрету-типу рабочего в этом языке должно было принадлежать первостепенное значение, поскольку именно от этого визуального образа пришлось бы отталкиваться в создании и иллюстрации таких агитационных конструктов, как “революция”, “солидарность трудящихся” “диктатура пролетариата”, “классовая борьба”, “союз пролетариата и крестьянства”, "коммунизм", “интернационал”, иллюстрировать тезисы классиков марксизма или декреты советской власти, превратить страницы текста в один краткий и емкий лозунг, ярко визуально воспроизвести этот лозунг на листе бумаги, не ударившись ни в литературную повествовательность, ни в орнаментальную декоративность, ни в  станковую многозначительность.

The Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and lean start-up template can be used as aid for developing a new, or analyzing and mapping an existing business model of a company. It is a visual chart with elements describing a firm or product's value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances. It assists firms in aligning their activities by illustrating potential trade-offs. It gives a graphic representation of a number of variables that show the values of the organisation.

A business model is a description of how your business intends to operate and make money. Sounds simple, RIGHT?

Situasi dan realiti masyarakat yang berubah telah membawa golongan wanita dari ruang domestik ke ruang awam. Ini dapat dilihat melalui peranan besar yang mula didominasi oleh golongan wanita dalam pelbagai sektor tertentu. Anjakan ini membuktikan keupayaan wanita untuk berdiri sama hebat dengan kaum lelaki. Namun demikian, perubahan ini sama sekali tidak mengurangkan atau mengubah peranan mereka di peringkat domestik. Status sebagai wanita bekerjaya tetap harus digabungkan dengan peranan tradisional sebagai pengurus keluarga ketika berada di rumah. Hal ini kadang kalanya menimbulkan konflik dalam diri wanita hingga membawa kepada potensi untuk murung. Justeru, bagi memastikan kestabilan diri wanita dalam menyesuaikan setiap peranan yang digalasnya, keseimbangan dalam penjagaan kendiri meliputi jasmani, emosi, rohani dan intelek amatlah diperlukan. Sehubungan itu, konsep pemikiran Imam al-Ghazali diketengahkan sebagai pendekatan bagi mencapai kesejahteraan individu bagi wanita berkerjaya. Penulisan al-Ghazali dalam Maʽarij Al-Quds Fi Madarij Ma'rifah Al-Nafs yang berkisar tentang psikologi manusia dijadikan sandaran utama. Hasilnya, pelbagai idea praktikal yang boleh dikendalikan oleh wanita untuk mewujudkan keharmonian dalam semua aspek: fizikal, emosi, intelek serta spiritual.

Hiring decisions can be risky. How much can employers save by better understanding the motivations and objectives of each applicant?  How much time and expertise should be invested in getting to know each applicant? Will such efforts raise the return on investment?  What are the shortcomings and deficits of the criteria to evaluate, compare and rank applicants?  How do they need to get changed to reflect the shift in the relative order of job skills between employees when the composition of the team (total of all employees) changes by hiring, firing or replacing?  A job description combines tasks and steps to a random set of job responsibilities.  But could there be better ways to bundle tasks together and to look for the most qualified applicant for this particular arbitrarily defined task bundle?  Could the employer benefit from regrouping all small tasks, which a company must perform, by changing which and how many small job tasks will be bundled together in different job descriptions?  And if so, how can reassigning each little tasks from different jobs to the most suitable employee (task-centered approach) instead of looking for the most qualified applicant for a particular job (job-centered approach) help in improving productivity and profitability?  How and why will the new task-centered approach help to increase the workforce diversity more than the job-centered approach?  How can reassigning tasks help disabled and handicapped lacking essential job functions to get hired anyways?  How can employers benefit from not only looking for the most qualified applicant for any particular job (i.e. arbitrarily bundle of tasks and steps) Why does the task-centered based hiring decision benefit employees, employees, applicants and disabled job-seekers more than job-centered based hiring decisions?  What are the benefits to seek the best employee for each task (task-centered) instead of the most qualified applicant for a particular job?  How can employers benefit from a paradigm shift replacing the job-centered with the task-centered hiring perspective?  How can the multi-dimensional effects, which different combinations of employees (i.e. teams) on the overall productivity and profitability be measured?  How much welfare and unemployment benefits could be saved if employers were aware of the additional benefits when making task or employee based hiring decisions instead of exclusively looking for the most qualified applicant?  How can reassigning job-tasks to different employees help applicants to become the most qualified job-seeker despite lacking essential job functions?  How could employers be convinced that they'd benefit most from reassigning tasks from different jobs to the employee most qualified for a particular task instead of only looking for the best applicant for a particular job consisting of an arbitrary bundle of tasks?

Selain diharuskan memiliki kemampuan menyusun media presentasi oral (menggunakan Powerpoint, Prezi, dll), seorang akademisi juga sangat perlu menguasai grafis untuk menyajikan hasil penelitiannya dalam wujud poster ilmiah. Perangkat lunak yang telah lazim kita kenal antara lain: Photoshop, Coreldraw, dan Visio untuk program berbayar, kemudian Draw.io untuk free access software. Namun, pastinya akan memakan waktu yang relatif cukup lama dalam menyesuaikan teks manuskrip kedalam poster. Meskipun cara demikian juga benar, tentu akan lebih mudah apabila dibuat dalam per-slide di Powerpoint. Tampilan poster akan lebih simpel, tidak powertext, dan representasi gambar/ilustrasi pada yang disampaikan pada poster akan minimalis (seperlunya saja). Karena pada dasarnya, dalam proses pembuatannya mengikuti prinsip presentasi oral menggunakan Powerpoint.

The use of Kinetography Laban in my study of the Alevi semah opened up some opportunities as well as dilemmas. Despite its vast benefits, notation only partially helps to shed light over native understandings and interpretations of movements and ritual actions. My engagement with this tool becomes a resource for questioning the local strategies that have been used in the past to conceptualize and represent the body and its movements in an Alevi context. In a self-reflective mode this paper discusses my choices in producing a handmade poster while presenting some of the kinetographs produced as part of my fieldwork research.

In this study, how the innovative career counselling at the career offices of the different universities affects the university students in their career path was critically analysed by studying the different cases of the world universities in the US and in Turkey. The changing atmosphere in the higher education and job environment had critically changed the university students' decision-making processes. Today, the new career counselling approach is needed and called "talent management" in search of alternative perspectives (Capelli, 2008). As Berger and his friends (2011) mention that even though the current talent management literatüre has a too narrow and one-dimensional approach, the innovative career counselling offices develop talent management in order to decrease career conflicts by helping the students in their career decisions. İn the new talent management, the three dimensions are taken into considerations which are namely, majors, talents, and skills. The new perspectives in the career counselling are not only valuable for the development of the students in their fields in general but also essential for the success and reputation of the universities in different contexts. İn order to understand the real effects of innovative career counselling in decision making process of the university students while decreasing their conflicts, the data were collected by using a phenomenological analysis (Moustakas, 1994, p. 2). Hence, the original data were gathered from "naive" descriptions by asking open-ended questions and dialogue. The researcher described the experiences based on reflection and interpretation of the research participant's story. İn this study, the university students (n=48), who studied from seven different universities in the US and in Turkey had participated and answered semi structured interview and focus group questions. Since a few universities had been using talent management, there were some limitations in sampling. Additionally, ali the students were Turkish due to the limitation in reaching ali the students in the US. Furthermore, the results were finalised by processing Atlas.ti 6 in order to understand deeply the complex structure of the role of the career counselling offices on career decisions and career conflicts among the students. As a result, the data show that the new career counselling called in general as talent management had inevitably affected decision making process of the university students in many ways. Even though most (83%) students were happy to contact and to work with the career counselling offices since they had become good in adapting quickly in the changing conditions of the market. The large number (98%) clarified that they had conflicts in choosing right career path, and they tried to choose majors to earn money rather than learn. Hence, in this career decision process only (96%) agreed that career counseling
offices were very well structured in helping to integrate and penetrate into the market. The data showed that the career counselling offices in the US were significantly different than those in Turkey, particularly in understanding the needs and the talents of the students by giving different assessments and in developing the social network with the business world. Even though the students in Turkey had same kind of interests, skills, and talents, they had been living significant conflicts due to the lack of proper career counselling at their universities called "talent management." İn this context, ali the students who study in Turkey were not happy and satisfied and that mentioned that they were living deep career conflicts in the 3rd and 4th grade. However, those students, who studied in the best universities in the US where career-counseling offices were active and well organized, had better self-confidence. In one of these universities, new approach of the career counselling had been using innovatively by taking holisticaily the concept of the career conselling so that all the students clearly mentioned that they did not have negative experience or conflicts in their decisions. They had been involved in their career decision activities while they were studying at the universities by attending actively in workshops, counselling sessions, assessment process, and mentoring.  Berger, L A., & Berger, D. One of the tenets of qualitative research is the emphasis and honoring of the participants’ own words as generative of meaning and knowledge; yet it is rare to hear the actual voices of the research participants in a presentation or in text. Qualitative research dissemination has relied on dense transcribed text; these “mountains of words” do not lend themselves to the
space limitations of academic journals or condensed visual elements such as summary charts, tables, or graphs. Technological advancements have the potential to revolutionize dissemination efforts, especially for qualitative research. The use of audio clips in poster and oral presentations, as well as embedded within written manuscripts plays with the interstices between the research participants and the observer. Infograms are effective ways of conveying a story visually. We demonstrate how combining audio clips and infographics can be a unique hypermodal dissemination possibility for qualitative results

Problem Durumu
Son klinik vaka çalışmaları ve araştırmaları, üstün yetenekleri olan çocukların yetişkinlik döneminde yeterince doğru seçimler yapamadıklarından, istemedikleri sonuçlarla karşı karşıya kaldıklarını ve mutsuz olduklarını, hatta başarısız olabileceklerini göstermektedir (Kerr, 2009). Bu nedenle, bu tür öğrencilerin çok yönlü özellikleri ele alınarak, kariyerleri ile ilgili farklı bir danışmanlık süreci izlenmesini gerektiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Eylül 2007 tarihinde başlatılan bu çalışmada, 38 farklı ve üstün yetenekli lise öğrencisinin meslek seçimleri sırasında yaşadıkları sorunlarla ilgili olarak Mart 2011 tarihine kadar üç yıllık kariyer danışmanlığı yapılmış ve bu danışmanlık sürecinde de nitel bir araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir.
Yöntem
Araştırmanın evrenini; İstanbul ilinde yaşayan daha önceden özel yetenekli olarak belirlenmiş lisede okuyan öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır.  Araştırmanın örneklemi ise İstanbul'un Beşiktaş ilçesinde özel yetenekli olduğu daha önceden belirlenmiş 38 lise öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Veri Toplama Araçları katılımcılara cinsiyet, yaş, gelir durumu ve özellikle yetenekli olduğu alanlarda başarılarıyla ilgili kısa özgeçmişlerini içeren Kısa Bilgi Formu, Piers Haris Benlik Algısı Ölçeği ve Baron Duygusal Zeka Testi verilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra derinlemesine mülakatlarla nitel araştırmanın gerektirdiği ses kayıtları alınmıştır. Bu şekilde Örnek Olay üzerinden elde edilen bilgi tasnif edilerek bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. İşlem uzun süreli bir araştırma olduğu için 38 öğrenci ile araştırma devam ettirilebilmiş ve Ocak 2011 itibariyle bulgular netlik kazanmıştır. Her öğrencinin kendisiyle teke tek görüşmelerin dışında, grup halinde ve aileleriyle de birlikte karşılıklı görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Birebir yapılan tüm görüşmelerin izinli olarak ses kayıtları alınmıştır. Açık uçlu sorular sorulurken, özellikle katılımcı gözlem yapılarak öğrencilerin bu süreçlerde geçirdikleri aşamalar, sıkıntılar ve gelişmeler de araştırmacı tarafından kaydedilmiştir. Kısa Bilgi Formunda yararlanılarak, öğrenciler için ayrı ayrı dosya açılmış ve Piers Haris Benlik Algısı Ölçeği ile Duygusal Zeka Testlerinin de sonuçları  göz önünde bulundurularak, derinlemesine mülakatlar yapılmış ve Örnek Olaydan yola çıkılarak, tüm bilgiler Excel dosyaya işlenmiştir. Veri Analizi İşlenen tüm veriler, gözlemler, Duygusal Zeka Testinin sonuçları, ve öğrencilerin bu dönemde gerçekleştirdikleri önemli performanslar da dikkate alınarak her öğrenci kendi içinde önce değerlendirilmiştir. Bu değerlendirme yapılırken özellikle Örnek Olay olarak ele alınan kariyer seçimleri ve bu süreçte yaşananlar araştırmanın soru olarak ön planda tutulmuş ve elde edilen bulgular bu çerçevede değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen bilginin daha sağlıklı olması, için belli bir kodlama sistemi kullanılmıştır. Bu kodlamalar PASW 18.0.1 kullanılarak daha derinlemesine geçerli ve güvenirliliği yüksek bir araştırma yapma imkanı bulunmuştur. Bu verilerin Piers Haris Benlik Algısı Ölçeği ve Duygusal Zeka Testini oluşturan alt testlerle de mukayesesi yapılmıştır.

Bulgular
Derinlemesine mülakatlar ve ölçeklerden elde edilen bilgilerin analizi sonucunda, bu örneklemdeki öğrencilerin hepsi Seviye Belirleme Sınavında başarı gösterememiştirdir. Ancak hepsinin özel yetenekleri olduğu daha önceden yapılan psikolojik testlerle kanıtlanmıştır. Ayrıca her biri kendine ait özel yeteneğini, müzik, sanat, spor ve temel bilimlerde sürdürmekte ve belirli bir gelişim göstermektedir. Aileleri tarafından da özel yetenekleri olduğu kabul edilen bu öğrencilerin en önemli ortak özellikleri ilgili olduğu becerilerinde süreklilik ve disiplinli bir çalışma yapma gayretleridir. 38 öğrencinin arasından özellikle müzik ve temel bilimlerle ilgilenen öğrencilerin akademik başarıları da aynı oranda yüksek olmakla birlikte, sanat ve sporla uğraşan öğrencilerin akademik başarıları daha düşüktür. Bu durum da kariyerleri konusunda karar verirken kararsız kalmalarına neden olmaktadır. Aynı şekilde bu grubun içinde akademik başarısı yüksek temel bilimde ve müzikte başarı gösteren öğrencilerin Duygusal Zeka Test ve Benlik Algısı sonuçları diğer gruba göre daha yüksek çıkmaktadır. Grubun tamamının ortak kaygısı, hangi alanda ilerleyeceklerini bilememeleri ve aile ve çevrelerin oluşturduğu beklentilerin üzerlerinde oluşturduğu baskı olarak nitelendirilmiştir. Pek çok alanda becerileri olan bu öğrenciler kararsızlıklarından dolayı planlı ve stratejik bir kariyer planmasına sahip olamadıkları da yapılan araştırma da belirlemiştir.

The paper presents and describes a project realized through the cooperation of students of art and students of English at the Teacher Education Academy in Zagreb. It has resulted in the production of original posters of authentic poems in English. The educational advantages of the project are discussed.

"Avatar or the embodiment of a dream" is an artistic project carried out in the emerging social networks of the years from 2008 to 2010.
Object of study in research in the arts, it was taken as the subject of a doctoral dissertation, where it is studied from different angles in an autoethnographic way, by comparison, as well as from the history of Net.art and other philosophical aspects, to insert it a posteriori , within the history of the development of Net.Art.

Bilgi ve inovasyon odaklı gelişimin ve rekabetin bir uzantısı olarak üniversite-sanayi işbirliğinin gittikçe arttığı ortamlarda yetenek yönetimi olarak bilinen kavram sadece artık insan kaynakları yönetiminde değil bizzat üniversitelerin kariyer merkezlerinin de üniversite birinci sınıftan itibaren lisans ve yüksek lisans seviyesinde yürüttüğü bir strateji olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Green'in belirttiği üzere yetenek yönetimi; insan kaynağını işe alma, tutma, geliştirme ve sonrasında yeniden düzenleme (performans süreci) aşamasından oluşur (2006). Ancak asıl önemli olan yetenek yönetimi bireylerin işe alınmadan önce mesleklerini elde ettikleri üniversite yıllarında şekillenmektedir Hashim & Taib, 2012). Gelecekte potansiyel çalışan olarak öğrencilerin üniversite öncesinde hangi üniversiteyi seçeceklerini, hangi bölümde okuyacaklarını, okudukları bölümlerin hangi alanlarında ihtisaslaşacaklarını, kendi kişiliklerine göre hangi yetenek ve becerilerini geliştireceklerini, nerelerde staj ya da proje geliştirerek liderlik yapabileceklerini belirlemek üzere yetenek yönetiminin yapılması gerekmektedir. Bu sayede çok  daha emin olan öğrencilerin üniversite sonrasında seçecekleri mesleklerde ve iş alanlarında daha başarılı ve mutlu olmaları kaçınılmazdır (Guile, 2002). Bu nedenle yurtdışındaki iyi üniversitelerdeki örneklerle birlikte Türkiye'de kariyer merkezleri kurulmakta ve kurulan bu merkezler vasıtasıyla öğrencilerin yönlendirmeleri sağlanarak iş dünyası ile körü görevini oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırma da stratejik yetenek yönetimi ve kariyer danışmanlığı uygulayan kariyer ofisinin uygulamayanlara göre olan etkisi araştırılmak istenmiştir.

The main aim of this research is to analyze critically the importance of career counseling on metacognitive skills and self-efficacy during the undergraduate studies. According to Herr (1997), career counseling, career guidance, and career interventions are general terms, which mean the process of evolution. In the lifespan development, people face different adjustment problems in different areas, particularly in their career: hence, there is a growing acknowledgement that career and personal counseling are fused in order to help people in terms of coping with different problems. Even though Mastropieri and Scruggs (2000) explain that metacognition is the knowledge about one’s own learning, in the development of metacognitive skills, during the career counseling sessions, people become more aware about their own cognitive skills and abilities. Therefore, cognitive oriented therapies help and develop alternative approaches as learning environment in which people have become active participants in the learning process. Additionally. As Zimmerman (1995) clearly mentions that metacognitive is not enough for people’s self-regulation. Hence, self-efficacy plays an important and crucial role. According to some important researches, Bandura (1993) and Countinho and Neuman (2008), both self-efficacy and metacognitive strategies (Dunning, Johnson, Ehrlinger, Kruger, 2003: Phakiti, 2003; Thiede et al.,2003: Zhang, 2012) work together in terms of better performances. Furthermore, self-efficacy has positive impacts on the development of metacognitive strategies, particularly in motivational aspect (Clause et al., 2001: Klassen, 2006) More importantly, strategy instruction, especially given during the career counseling sessions may improve self-efficacy (Graham, 2011). For that reason, in this study by using a phenomenological analysis, the effects of career counseling have been observed for three months on the metacognitive skills and self-efficcy of the 42 university students. After the career counseling sessions 18 research questions are answered in the semi-structured interviews and the data are analyzed through Atlas.ti 7 to understand deeply the reasons. The results show that since the career counseling sessions have increased self-efficacy of the large number (86%) of the participants, they strongly suggest career counseling sessions which improve their metacognitive skills. More critically, some of the participants (56%), especially  those who are women, have pointed out that career counseling help them to reach their goals related to their business lives. Moreover, a large number of the participants (87%) emphasize that career counseling sessions do not help them only in self-efficacy, but in metacognitive skills: hence, inter- relationship and intra- relationship between self-efficacy and metacognitive skills are significantly powerful. During the sessions, the responsibilities and skills of metacognition and self-efficacy are transferred from the counselor to the participants.

Sardis has been the name of the settlement here for more than 3,000 years. The oldest occupation levels excavated at Sardis date back to the late Bronze Age, around 1400 B.C. But much older artifacts, going way back to the Early Bronze Age and Neolithic Period of the 3rd-7th millennia B.C., have also been recovered at the site. At later times, Sardis was the capital of the Kingdom of Lydia that spanned over half of Anatolia (modern Asian part of Turkey). Due to its successful trade and commerce, Sardis remained the center of fame and wealth for many centuries. It featured a grand Roman bath and a gymnasium complex and a Jewish synagogue (third largest in the world). Later, some artifacts of the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) were also brought to the city. As the early Lydian kingdom developed industrial arts and manufacture, skillful craftsmen of Sardis discovered the secret of producing silver and gold of an unknown purity to the date. This discovery made Sardis famous for being the very place where modern currency was invented. Sardis was a major urban settlement of the Persian Empire, and the seat of the Roman Empire’s Proconsul. One of the Seven Churches of Asia mentioned by St. John in the Bible was there, as it was an important center of Early Christianity. Eventually, Sardis was neglected and fell under the Ghazi’s control, handed over to them by treaty in 1306. The decline went on until the are was taken by Mongols in 1402. By the 19th century, Sardis was in ruins. The first excavation campaign of 1910 was halted by World War I until it was resumed by Cornell University in 1958. From 1976 until 2007, new excavations were directed by archaeologists of the University of California, Berkeley. Nowadays, although some artifacts can be found in to the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Turkey ensures that all artifacts of value remain in the country.

Poster presentations have established themselves in hard and social sciences, but remain an undervalued asset in Translation Studies (TS). In this paper, we report on a survey (n=104) that we carried out to map TS scholars' behavior and preferences regarding poster and oral presentations in conferences. Based on the results, we argue that the full potential of posters as a tool for disseminating research results, getting feedback and networking with colleagues has not been realized in TS. Although the role of posters in facilitating these interactions is acknowledged in the survey responses, the results also reveal that poster presenters are often underprepared: they have not studied making posters nor do they rehearse presenting the poster beforehand. Having identified this lack of preparation, we provide tips for making and presenting engaging posters. In addition, we discuss issues that conference organizers could pay attention to when organizing poster sessions. We hope to encourage more TS scholars to present posters in future conferences by suggesting that the visuality of posters can be harnessed to attract new audiences and to initiate meaningful interactions.

Posters are a common way of sharing research in many pure sciences, but are not yet the norm in Translation Studies. With the rising number of Translation Studies conferences providing a space for posters, we looked into the opinions and expectations of Translation Studies scholars regarding posters and oral presentations, as well as how they prepare for, deliver and engage with presentations. Via an online survey addressed to Translation Studies scholars through Facebook groups, Twitter and the EST newsletter, we tested the assumption that posters are not a preferable form of sharing research and looked into possible reasons to explain the reluctance to do posters. Results (n=103) confirm a preference for oral presentations over posters and provide other insights on how scholars envisage the sharing of research in conferences. Among other issues, the pressure to build a strong CV, the idea that close-knitted thematic spaces are the best way to advance one’s research and the idea of posters as static and dull seem to be behind the position against presenting posters at Translation Studies conferences.
