moreProfessor John T. Kirby (University of Miami) and Mr Steven D. Owyoung, (Saint Louis Art Museum, Curator of Asian Arts, Emeritus) visit historical locations associated with the birth, upbringing, literary career, and burial of 陸羽 Lu Yu [733-804 CE], the celebrated author of the CHA JING [CLASSIC OF TEA]. They are formally received and entertained in Tianmen by the 党委书记 [*dangwei shuji*, i.e. Party-Committee Secretary]; a portion of their tour is documented by a press corps of four people, and reported in an illustrated article in the TIANMEN DAILY. The latter article is reproduced here.
