This year marks the 20th anniversary of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) conducting entrepreneurship research in economies around the world through a system of rigorous data collection, extensive analysis, and widespread dissemination of results. Studies on women’s participation in entrepreneurial behaviors have long been a part of this project, with reports developed approximately every two years. The 2018/2019 report provides analysis from 59 economies, aggregating data from two GEM data collection cycles: 10 economies reporting in 2017 and 49 reporting in 2018. For the purpose of analysis and to allow for comparisons, these countries are grouped into three levels of national income (adapted from the World Bank classification by GNI per capita)1 and six geographic regions: East and South Asia and Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, North America, and sub-Saharan Africa. Education of women have resulted in greater self-confidence and encouragement to serve and discover new business avenues. Women have started realizing that the survival of their families and their own potential lies only in working side by side with men (Marlow, 2002). Training female entrepreneurs: lessons from the FEIW project2009 •
India an agrarian economy has immeasurable resources for creating entrepreneurship and generating employment. These resources should be applied towards the development of industry. The entrepreneur uses skills to organize, manage and overcome the risks of a business. Entrepreneurs use ideas and they fabricate these ideas for their sustainable economic development. An entrepreneur is an innovator recognizes opportunities and converts these opportunities into businesses taking all the risks. The entrepreneur has the highest involvement in his business. The society of India is male-dominated. Despite equal populations women are not free to engage themselves in the start ups but engage themselves in the sectors like agriculture, handicrafts, handloom and cottage-based industries. Entrepreneurship is the result of three dimensions working together: favorable conditions, government programs and cultural attitudes. The females indulge in the daily chores of their lives but have self determ...

This publication is supported by the European Union Programme for Employment and Social Solidarity -PROGRESS (2007-2013).Malta has the lowest female employment rate compared to the other 27 EU member states. However, the female labour market has been changing in the past years, where policies trying to attract more women in the market, as workers, employers or self-employed, have been put into place. According to the latest Population Census 2011 (NSO 2014), the 15+ female population totals 179,752, of which only 65,071 are considered as employed (including 141 women who are either unpaid family workers or members of producer’s cooperatives). A total of 4,444 females were seeking employment, while the remainder 110,237 were inactive. This means that only 36.2% of 15+ females were employed in 2011, with this increasing to 37.3% by the first quarter of 2014. The female employment rate (which considers the 15-64 age group) was 47.1% during Q1, 2014. Figure 1 shows the trend from 2004 t...
There is increasing recognition that female entrepreneurs are the new engines for inclusive and sustainable growth (GEM 2012). A variety of stakeholders have indicated that they are the ‘rising stars of the economies’, the ‘untapped source of economic growth and development’, ‘the way forward’, and the ‘new women’s movement’ (Vossenberg 2013). By 2020, it is estimated that 870 million women will enter the economic mainstream for the first time, which may affect GDP growth rates and productivity, increasing it by as much as 34% and 25% respectively in some countries (World Bank 2011). It is thus becoming ever more certain that women’s entrepreneurship is, and will continue to be, a formidable force of socio-economic development (Minniti and Naudé 2010).
