The Co-Professionals [LIS] Koha Configuration – Patrons and Circulation After se ing up the Basic Parameters (h ps://coprofessionals.wordpress.com/2019/09/02/kohaconfiguration-basic-parameters/) next to it is se ing up the circulation and fine rules. This will help to define patron categories and the privileges will be given to them for issue-return of books. To set this up we will go to Koha Administration–> Partons & Circulations There you will find these two categories to set up the patron category and circulation rules. To define the patron categories you have to take decisions to divide your users into certain group like students, faculty, non-teaching staff, admin staff, external users etc. Generally, the categories are made on the basis of the policies that how many books you want to issue to a user group. One category we have to create at the time of Installing Koha (h ps://www.youtube.com/watch? v=bmMm9TEePd8&t=1s). You can edit the category or delete and create new categories. After defining the patron categories we will define the issue-return privileges by clicking on the circulation and fine rules category. Here select the particular library first and then choose the different patron category and set the privileges like how many books users can issue, for how many days, what are the fine charges if not returned within time, renewal options, hold policies etc. One patron category was defined which category was created at the time of installing Koha. Edit or delete the category as per your concern. You can also go through with the video guide (h ps://youtu.be/N0Gd84Ikfpg) of this manual.
