ECHOES OF AEMILIAN TERRAMARE IN THE RESEARCHES OF HEINRICH SCHLIEMANN AT TROY. In 1868 H. Schliemann, before starting the exploration at Hissarlik/Troia, was a rich businessman who visited Italy for reasons related to his job. When he lived in Bologna for some days, the German entrepreneur has met the nobleman G. Gozzadini, who introduced Schliemann into the world of Pre-Roman archaeology. This paper aims at reconstructing an unknown aspect of the long-time relationship between Schliemann and Italy, focusing on the influences played by the Prehistory of Terremare on the defining the Anatolian Bronze Age in the late of XIXth century. In the main Schliemann’s books on Troia, a lot of references and parallels with Bronze Age pottery from some terramare around Modena depicts a picture of relevant importance in terms of interpretation of the earliest Anatolian culture and its inter-mediterranean connection.
