Paper on _Incomprehensible Certainty: Metaphysics and Hermeneutics of the Image_
Lecture to be given at Catholic University of America, 28 February 20232023 •
Presentation on Incomprehensible Certainty 1) I would like to thank CUA and the Institute for Human Ecology for inviting me, and also the organizers of tonight's event for their generous hospitality. Additionally, I am particularly grateful to Monsignore Sokolowski and Prof. Schindler for agreeing to offer their perspectives on various aspects of my book. 2) My own remarks will aim to do three things: first, to identify the central claims and conceptual architecture of my book; second, to illustrate it with a closer examination of a couple of artworks; and, finally, to sketch at least some of my project's implications for theological and humanistic inquiry.

Education for sustainable development in primary school: Understanding, importance, and implementationThere is no doubt that education for sustainable development (ESD) is important because it covers all areas: social, emotional, intellectual, physical, moral, etc. ESD helps people acquire the skills, knowledge, and values necessary for a successful life and a constructive contribution to society. If earlier early ESD was not at the centre of attention, recently it has become increasingly clear that early education has great potential for fostering values, behaviours, and skills that contribute to sustainable development. Despite this, ESD remains problematic due to the inadequate preparation of pre-service primary teachers in this area. It is obvious that ESD implementation in primary education is still poorly integrated. Empirical qualitative research aimed to reveal how pre-service primary school teachers understand ESD in primary school. Generally, 86 students from two Lithuanian universities, preservice teachers of preschool and primary education, took part in the research. Verbal research data were analysed using the quantitative content analysis method. The results suggest that although ESD in early childhood is understood as significant and reasonable, however, the understanding of pre-service teachers is rather one-sided. ESD is understood as social welfare, while the natural and physical environment is the least expressed in their understanding structure. Meanwhile, the implementation of ESD is understood as a normal educational process, applying known techniques and methods. It is necessary to strive for the young generation to be characterised by responsibility, a sense of community, conservation, and citizenship, to understand the harmony of the surrounding world and their activities. For that purpose, changes in the education are needed to integrate the necessary ESD elements, including both managerial and educational processes.

Vozes da terra e ancestralidade: imaginando novas perspectivas para o AntropocenoO Antropoceno configura uma época de crise de dimensões ambientais, climáticas, econômicas, sociais, políticas e epistemológicas, que envolvem não apenas a humanidade, mas o próprio planeta Terra em seu conjunto. Embora a iminência da não existência de um mundo em devir nos traga angústias e anseios, esta também é uma oportunidade para pensarmos outros futuros possíveis e caminhos que podem ser (ou já vêm sendo) trilhados para alcançá-los. Partimos da hipótese de que a imaginação de novos projetos estéticos-éticos- políticos no Antropoceno é indissociável do diálogo com as vozes da terra, suas políticas de ancestralidade e epistemes experimentadas cotidianamente no calor da vida. Nesse sentido, com base em pesquisa bibliográfica, o artigo pretende analisar reflexões de pensadores indígenas e quilombolas que nos possibilitam fugir da cegueira antropocêntrica do mundo moderno e compreender outras formas de lidar com o tempo, outros saberes e outras enunciações, garantindo assim novas perspectivas para nossa sobrevivência no Antropoceno.
Cet article présente la notion d'« image de la pensée » qui donne son titre au troisième chapitre de Différence et répétition. Le propos est divisé en quatre temps. Dans une première partie, nous présentons le motif de l'« image de la pensée » tel qu'il est développé dans Nietzsche et la philosophie et Proust et les signes. Dans une deuxième partie, nous résumons les huit postulats de l'« image dogmatique de pensée » présentés dans Différence et répétition. Dans une troisième partie, nous rappelons que le motif d'une « pensée sans image » s'inscrit en réalité dans l'histoire contemporaine de la psychologie, de l'école de Würzburg à Alfred Binet, à laquelle Deleuze a certainement accès via Sartre, Bréhier et Burloud. Enfin, dans une quatrième partie, nous montrons comment, à partir des années 1970 et avec Félix Guattari, le motif de l'image de la pensée est transféré dans un cadre à la fois socio-historique et critique où il décrit d'une part l'influence de l'État sur la pensée des philosophes de profession et d'autre part l'alternative que représentent à cet égard certaines traditions discursives non-philosophiques.
