We present a literature review that identifies a gap in business intelligence knowledge regarding the fit between technology and the tasks solved using the technology. We propose a model that frames the fit between task characteristics and the use of business intelligence. The model represents task, system, and information quality as independent constructs with task compatibility as the dependent construct. A future quantitative study will test the model by looking at business intelligence users and how they use technology to perform tasks for solving problems.
In the present day era of globalization and cut throat competition, where speed is the buzzword, it is very important for an organization to take right decision at the right time. Business Intelligence (BI) allows us to use data strategically in responses to challenges and drive profitable business actions. Decisions purely based on the gut feeling cannot assure success; but with BI's fact-based decision-making framework, confident decisions can be made for assured business success. BI refers to a set of tools and techniques that enable a company to transform its business data into timely and accurate information for the decisional process, to be made available to the right persons in the most suitable form. The paper explores the concept of business intelligence, its architecture and applications.

Business Strategies Based on Large Sets of Data and Interaction: Business IntelligenceThe literature review shows that business intelligence (BI) has a long history even though its systematic use in the business context is more recent. Despite the importance of systematic BI, the concept is still trying to find a footing in both academia and the business world. From the literature review, one sees that there are numerous intelligence concepts and that their categorization is ambiguous. The BI concept is also multidimensional as there is no precise or universal conception of what BI is. The article aims to provide an analysis of BI definitions and related intelligence concepts, such as the content of each key concept, what it describes and how intelligence concepts relate to each other. Another objective of the article is to increase the academic understanding and status of this recent field of research on intelligence activities.

Business Intelligence (BI); A System to Optimize Business Performance2016 •
Many Organizations struggle in collecting data, retrieving information and making sound decisions within good time. With a very high increase in data collection due to the growing global market and customization, the decision making process needs to be fast and more accurate. The research was conducted at the National Identification Authority which is a Government Identity Management Institution. A survey method and a Stratified Random Sampling method of data collection were used. In looking at the possibility to optimize Business performance through Business Intelligence, it was expedient to investigate the current BI tools used by the organisation under study. Find out the awareness of Business Intelligence to some critical staff and their perception on the adaptation of a full scale Business Intelligence system by the organisation. It was found out that the institution does not have a BI system in operation and about half of the respondents interviewed acknowledged the need of using a Business Intelligence system. They were however concerned about Business Intelligence capital intensiveness, the need for intelligent planning, highly skilled technocrats to man such a system as the main challenges. In addressing these concerns some recommendations are outlined which would go a long way in helping the National Identification Authority.
