This is a brief note on the expansion of Indo-European languages from the Atlantic in the west to the Bay of Bengal in the east in a comparatively short time assumed to be the result of the use of horses and chariots as force multiplier by the early speakers of the languages. The second part of it looks into the evidence for the claim that these also facilitated Indo-Aryan migration or invasion into South Asia later in the second millennium BCE.

SV. JERONIM, MARKO MARULIĆ I ANDRIJA ALEŠI2024 •
Marko Marulić and Andrija Aleši were contemporaries. Aleši, an Albanian of Dürres descent, was granted Split citizenship, and buried in the church of the confraternity of the Holy Spirit, of which he was a member. In the Split of that time, with its population of probably about four thousand, including the suburbs, Andrija Aleši, a well-regarded but now getting-on sculptor and builder and Marko Marulić, young writer and respected scion of an old family must have known each other by sight at least. In any case, they breathed the same air, that of the physical and spiritual atmosphere of the time, with its overlays of terror of the plague, the Turks just outside the city walls, heavenly protection being called for aloud. In their time, the cult of Jerome took on new life; he was felt of as a long-ago fellow countryman, a Dalmatian from the obscure days of the breakdown of the Roman Empire. Marulić wrote a lengthy life of St Jerome, and Aleši carved the biggest relief in Dalmatia, in the baptistery of Trogir Cathedral, depicting Jerome as an elderly ascetic in a cave, with his books, in company with the lion, the serpent and scorpions that crept menacingly on the rocks. He carved a whole series of small reliefs as well, retables on which the motif of St Jerome in the Cave was repeated. He is also ascribed the statue of St Jerome in the Chapel of St John of Trogir. In Split he depicted St Jerome on the altar of the Church of Bethlehem on Marjan. Particularly interesting with respect to the inventory of religious motifs is a relief from Trogir baptistery. In many ways it is similar to Marulić’s life of Jerome. Like the saint, Marulić devoted a large part of his oeuvre to exegesis of the Scriptures, particularly of the Gospel of St Matthew. In Aleši, many symbols are derived from the Gospels: the withered tree, the snake, the city set on the hill… Keywords: Marko Marulić; sv. Jeronim; Andrija Aleši; Spli

Demand means a mere "wish" or "desire" to have a commodity/service. According to the Prof. Benahm, "Demand is the quantity of commodity which the consumers are prepared to purchase at a certain price during a specific period of time". Simply demand means quantity of commodity being purchased by any person at a specific price. E.g. demand of 40 KG of wheat at Rs. 25 per Kg. 2: Income elasticity of demand Consumer's income is one of the important determinants of demand. Thus, any change in the income of consumers will affect the demand and it will also change. So, we can say that "Income elasticity of demand is the degree of responsiveness of demand to the change in consumer's income". Formula Ey = Δq / q ÷ Δy / y 3: Cross elasticity of demand Under this, change in price of commodity (B) results a change in demand for commodity (A) while price of (A) remains same. Thus, "rate of responsiveness of quantity demanded of commodity A to changes in price of commodity B" is regarded as cross elasticity of demand. Wheat and Rice are substitution. An increase in price of Rice will affect demand of Wheat and it will go up. Formula EC = ΔqA / qA ÷ ΔpB / pB 4: Equilibrium of demand and supply qd = f(p) is a decreasing function and qs = f(p) is an increasing function. The point of the intersection of both curves, demand curve (DD) and supply curve (SS) shows qd = qs. The price at which qd = qs is known as equilibrium price and this situation is known as "Equilibrium of demand and supply" or "Market equilibrium". 5: Supply and stock Stock shows the total quantity of commodity available in shops, houses or warehouses near the market in "Finished form." It can be brought for sale at a short notice. Supply is the quantity of a commodity actually offered for sale in the market at the specific price level. Supply increase with rise in price and vice versa. Normally supply is the part of the stock but it may become equal to stock when whole quantity is sent to the market for sale. 6: Elasticity of supply

The use of the saber in the army of Napoleon2016 •
Though Napoleonic warfare is usually associated with guns and cannons, edged weapons still played an important role on the battlefield. Swords and sabers could dominate battles and this was certainly the case in the hands of experienced cavalrymen. In contrast to gunshot wounds, wounds caused by the saber could be treated quite easily and caused fewer casualties. In 18th and 19th century France, not only manuals about the use of foil and epee were published, but also some important works on the military saber: de Saint Martin, Alexandre Muller… The saber was not only used in individual fights against the enemy, but also as a duelling weapon in the French army.

Pandemic Prevention: Lessons from COVID-192021 •
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which appeared in late 2019, generating a pandemic crisis with high numbers of COVID-19-related infected individuals and deaths in manifold countries worldwide. Lessons learned from COVID-19 can be used to prevent pandemic threats by designing strategies to support different policy responses, not limited to the health system, directed to reduce the risks of the emergence of novel viral agents, the diffusion of infectious diseases and negative impact in society.
